Summary
“Come home. After your shift. I will make you hot chocolate.” It was a promise.
It was more than that. They had been calling the Diaz’ house home for a while now and not once had Buck said anything against it, he would usually give him that shy smile while lowering his head. Like he couldn’t believe that he was part of their family.
Maybe it was time for Eddie to remind him of it.
“It will be late, I still have like two hours left, and that is if nothing happens and hold us for longer.”
“It won’t be late.” Eddie had been late so many times in his life, but right now everything felt like it was meant to happen at this pace. “Maybe it will be early.”

Summary
“Those eyes won’t work on me this time.” It was a lie. Eddie knew it and so did Buck.
Eddie kissed his boyfriend’s cheek gently, as his thumb caressed the other man’s jaw before whispering in his ear.
“I love you and I know that you just want to make Christopher happy, but it’s too much.”
Eddie moved after that to start clearing up the table, it was their turn to do it and wash the dishes. Cap didn’t even blink when Buck offered to help Eddie with it. I was part of who they were even before they had decided to start dating.
It had been scary, but mostly nothing changed except that now he could kiss and touch his best friend as he had always thought.
It didn’t take long for Buck to be in front of him again with those eyes. Christopher had also learned how to do them, they both knew it was the easiest way to make Eddie cave. Thankfully both of them only used it with a good reason, it was mostly why Eddie always said yes.
Buck, though only used it for asking something for Chris. He would never do it for himself.
“What if I told you that I already bought the tickets?”

Summary
Buck didn’t know why, but the words just came out of his mouth as he sat on one of the benches in the locker room while tying the shoelaces of his sneakers. Eddie stood next to the locker room, already fully changed into his civil clothes and finishing putting his watch on.
“I’m doing a tattoo tomorrow.” Buck was pretty sure he just mumbled the words, maybe his best friend wouldn’t even understand it. “I was thinking that maybe you wanna come?”
He quickly got up and closed the metal door before picking his things up, not giving much space for Eddie to answer.
“Forget it. You are probably busy with Chris.” Buck tightened the grip on the shoulder strap of his bag. He had been anxious all week. He had this appointment for weeks and Eddie probably hadn’t even noticed the date.
“Chris is actually going to a friend’s house after school tomorrow.” Eddie’s voice stopped Buck in his tracks, just at the door. “I will go with you.”

Summary
Buck had agreed to it. It was his own fault to be in a crowded bar lost in how many drinks he had already.
It had been a while since the 118 had gone out together to have fun. They had found a babysitter for the kids. (Paid May and her boyfriend to watch them)
Athena had joined and so did Maddie and Karen.
It almost felt like a couples’ night now. Except, Buck, Eddie, and Ravi were the only single people in their group.
It never bothered Buck before. He could easily find company for the night if he wanted, but he was no longer that reckless kid searching for a bit of love in a one-night stand.
No, he had learned to be happy by himself. To love himself. The thing was, he loved more than himself. It took him a while to admit but he was in love with his best friend who now sat at his side in a small booth, their sides pressed together from knee to hip and shoulder.

Summary
Eddie wasn't eavesdropping, he wouldn't do that.
He liked giving Christopher his space, especially when he was with Buck.
Buck was Chris' safe space and if Eddie was being honest, it was also his. Still, he never expected to hear it.
"I love you." Chris sounded sure and confident.
"You do?" Buck's voice was clearly filled with emotion at that confirmation and Eddie wanted to punch anyone who ever made Buck feel like he didn't deserve love.
"Yes. That is why you need to ask Dad out! I'm okay with it. I would love that!"

Summary
“Please stop trying to hide them from me.” It was the first thing that Eddie said once he opened the door.
There was a chill breeze of the morning and Buck would die saying that it was what caused the shiver that when down his body and not the fact that Eddie looked as smug as possible even with his hair all disheveled.
Buck was more than happy that his body reacted to Eddie so well, so he smirked back taking the box that was hidden behind his back to their front.
“You look like you are plotting something. Chris is still asleep.” Eddie walked back inside the house, not even bothering to look over his shoulder to make sure that Buck was following him.
“I figure. I just wanted to surprise him.” Buck easily took the hint and followed Eddie into the kitchen to set the box on the counter. He opened it up to reveal heart-shaped cookies with strawberry jam in the middle.
“Those look good. Where did you buy them?” Eddie had already a coffee mug in his hand and with the other, he tried to reach for one of the cookies which Buck batted away.

Summary
Buck had been agitated all through their shift, making it seem longer than it actually was.
Buck was Eddie’s partner and if he wasn’t okay then Eddie wasn’t either, their partnership had always been like that. They were always in sync with each other but this shift was different. Buck was quiet, which in itself was weird, he couldn’t keep his hands still more than usual.
The rest of the team had noticed it too and they all did what they could to help their friend. They were a family.Every time that Buck was touched by one of them, he would relax into the touch as if it was grounding him, bringing him back to earth.
Eddie was reaching out more than usual, letting their fingers linger and touch for longer than necessary when delivering a cup of coffee. They all knew what was going on. Even Chimney was agitated.
The Buckley parents were in town.

Summary
“Cap, there is no one here!” Eddie said through the radio as he shared a look with Buck.
Something was off.
“Are you sure? Dispatch said that there was a man with his daughter.” Bobby’s voice came through the radio.
“We are, Cap. I don’t think anyone was living here at all.” They needed to get out of there soon, Eddie could hear the fire easily consuming the structure of the house.
“Get out before it collapses.” Bobby hadn’t even finished his sentence and they were already moving through the burning house.
They were quick even with the heavy equipment and as soon as Eddie got the fresh air he turned around to talk with Buck. He wasn’t there. He didn’t follow him out.
“Buck!” Eddie was already turning on his feet ready to get back inside until he felt hands on his shoulders stopping him from going any further.
