Summary:

“I saw this flower and it reminded me of you, so I thought you might like it.”

Chapter Text

Moments later after Adriel defeat

Ava walks around the pitch black and holds her hands close to keep aware of her surroundings. A shiny bright light appears in the distance making Ava move towards the unknown of uncertainty.

“Shit…why is it so cold?” Ava curses aloud and continues to rub her arms to keep warm. As she gets closer and closer to the light, she puts her left hand up to cover eyes to see more clearly. “Let’s hope this isn’t a dead end…” Ava walks in and trips over an unknown object. “Shit..” Ava mumbles to herself and realizes Reya is facing the wall in front of her.

“Uh…hello?” Ava questions Reya and Reya turns around giving a slight smile. “Hello, Ava, I have been waiting for you.” “Hello, how come I healed so fast here?” “Time travels quite quickly here.” Ava nods slightly and looks down at the floor upsettingly. “I see you thinking about a certain someone.” Ava looks back up, blushes slightly and shakes her head in disapproval. She paces slowly around the room and bits her lip slightly from letting out tears.

“Come here, Ava. Let me show you something.” Ava turns around facing Reya and nods slightly at her. Ava walks up towards the door that Reya is standing in front of and Reya opens the door showing Beatrice in view of her back at the bar in Switzerland. “Bea…” Ava slowly walks closer to the door and Reya closes the door before Ava can get through.

“Now…I know you want to go back, but you’re not ready yet.” Ava scoffs at Reya and rolls her eyes. “Ready my ass.” Reya ignores the comment and Ava follows her behind. Ava’s thoughts run back to see Bea in Switzerland and the way she was writing in her notebook. The way she wore the same white t-shirt with black pants and her hair pulled back in a low ponytail. The memories filled her mind of the night of drinking lemon drops bringing a smile to her face slightly.

“You’re thinking again,” Reya mentions and Ava looks at her in annoyance. “Is it so bad to think?” “Well, no, but it’s bad here to let your emotions get to you here. But anyways we are here.” Reya walks up to a white door with some cherry blossoms all over it. As Reya opens the door, Ava holds her breath in fear.

Reya walks inside and Ava hesitates, looking back at the door where Bea was in Switzerland. She sighs and mumbles to herself, “I will come back for you, I promise.” Ava follows Reya inside and takes a look at her surroundings.

“So…is this the afterlife? I thought it was supposed to be dark, scary, and demons.” Ava questions Reya because dying didn’t feel like this, but a pitch black of nothing. “I built this to feel the need to rest for the world of darkness out here.” “But…how?” Reya just looks at Ava and continues to move forward.

Ava takes a look of her surroundings and sees a bunch of different kinds of flowers laying around in an open field. Ava smiles slightly remembering the way Bea gave her a sunflower because it reminded her of herself. She picks out a sunflower and puts it on top of left ear like Bea once did.

Flashback

Ava and Bea walk side by side down the little farmers market in Switzerland. Ava is in her jean shorts with a black tank top, and blue baseball cap while Bea is in a long sleeve black top with black pants.

Ava stands closer to Bea admiring her view next to her with a smile on her face. Bea looks focused around her surroundings and doesn’t seem to notice how close Ava is to her at the moment. Bea sees flowers in the distance and catches an interesting yellow sunflower in view. “Oh my gosh!!! Bea, let’s go over here!” “Ava--” Ava drags Bea towards a shop full of tourist stuff and Bea sighs in defeat. Ava walks around looking like a little kid and Bea admires in the distance as she looks around the store.

Bea watches her steadily and Ava looks up at Bea with a big smile on her face. Ava shows an object to Bea in the distance with a grin on her face and Bea feels that same warmth feeling in her chest again. “Dang it, Ava, what are you doing to me?” She quickly whispers to herself and puts her hands in her pockets, waiting for Ava. Ava looks at Bea and notices the discomfort and the waiting, knowing it’s time to go. Ava sighs and walks back to Bea.

“You ready?” Bea asks and Ava gives a small nod. Bea notices the change of mood and looks back to the flower shop. Bea looks at Ava and interlocks their hands, “C’mon, I have something to show you.” “Oh, I thought we couldn’t go sightseeing,” she mocks Bea and Bea shakes her head, pulling Ava out of the store. They continued to walk down the street hand and hand making Ava look down at their hands from time to time.

Bea takes her into the greenhouse and Ava looks in awe. Bea lets go of their hands and walks straight to the sunflowers. Ava follows behind her and looks at Bea questioning her. “So, why are we here exactly?” Bea picks a sunflower and breaks most of the steam off to make the flower easier to hold. Bea walks closer to Ava and moves a piece of hair from her face to behind her ear. Ava holds her breath at the sudden movement Bea makes and Bea looks at her lovingly. Bea smiles lightly at Ava and puts the sunflower on top of left ear, holding it steadily in her hair. Ava checks Bea out and blushes slightly. Bea doesn’t seem to notice and avoids eye contact any longer.

“I saw this flower and it reminded me of you, so I thought you might like it.” Ava blinks in surprise and Bea looks behind her seeing something in the distance. “Ava…we need to go, we are being followed.” Ava looks over her shoulder and sees three men looking at them. “Yeah, let's get out of here.”

End of Flashback

“This is where you would be staying until the meantime.” Reya says and Ava looks around very hesitantly wondering when she will see Bea again. Reya leaves the room and closes the door behind her. Ava sits down on the bed and sees a paper on the nightstand by her. She picks up and it reads Dear Beatrice , but nothing after those words. Weird , she thought. She closes her eyes and she hovers over on every stroke of the words of the letter. She sighs and places it back on the nightstand, closing her eyes into a deep slumber.

As Ava is sleeping, Bea on the other side of the world is back at the bar sitting down staring at the letter Ava left her. Bea reads it again for the third time of the day and smiles slightly at the message written down.

“You have been reading that letter a lot,” Hans says, making Beatrice jump at the sound of his voice. “Oh, sorry didn’t mean to scare you.” Beatrice sighs and gives a small smile. “It’s alright.” “Do you want to talk about it? I’ve noticed Ava isn’t around.” The words stung her as she remembers the painful memory of her being gone. “She’s…gone on a trip and I haven't heard from her in months.” She avoids eye contact from Hans and he seemed to notice the tension of the topic of Ava. “You both were close and I must say she loves you a lot. I believe there is a reason for no contact, so I think she will contact you when she is ready. I hate to see you miserable.” She looks at Hans with teary eyes and nods at him holding her eyes back. Hans smiles and leaves to return to his shift. Bea wipes the tears off her face as a few fall down her cheek and lets out a shaky breath she was holding. She folds the letter back up and places it in her back pocket.

I need to keep it together , she thought and processes to clean up her work area. She gets up and waves goodbye to Hans, leaving the bar to go back to their apartment. As she arrives at the apartment, she drops her bag on the chair next to her and walks to the kitchen to look for some food. She jumps and pulls out her knife for defense, finding it wasn’t an intruder in her kitchen.

She sees Camila and Lilith standing in front of her and she gives them a dirty look.

“What do you both want?” She says in annoyance and Lilith replies, “Nice to see you too, Bea.” Camila gives a smile at Beatrice and Lilith shakes her head at Camila. Beatrice rolls her eyes at Lilith and proceeds to walk to the fridge to grab something to eat.The silence remains while Bea grabs an apple from the fridge. She closes the door angrily, “What is it? Seriously!” “Bea…Ava is alive,” Lilith informs. She drops her apple in shock and doesn’t make sudden movements.

The small moments, memories and the defeat of Adriel run through the brain of her and Ava. She falls to the floor and Camila catches her. “I--she was dead.” Tears fall slightly down her face as she is still processing the news. “What makes you think that, Bea?” Camila questions Bea with teary eyes on her face. “I didn’t think she would make it with that kind of injury and…who knows if Reya is good or not.” Bea lays her head back against the cabinet, closing her eyes to help calm herself down from the breakdown. “Well…there’s one slight problem,” Lilith says, making Bea shiver in the thought of endless possibilities. “She’s not herself.” Bea looks between the two of them and mumbles, “Of course she is.” Bea lifts herself off the floor and starts walking to her room. “Well it looks like we are going to have to bring her back.”

As Bea packs her stuff to get ready to find Ava, Ava wakes up from her slumber back in the other world.

Ava looks around the room and curses under her breath, “Damn it.” She gets up, stretches and walks towards the door. She opens the door and Reya is standing by the door. “Seriously? Watching me like a hawk now?” Ava groans and moves past Reya walking in the path of the unknown. “Just can’t have some peace and quiet here, can’t I.” Ava sighs as she continues to walk in the dark.

Reya seems to not follow Ava, but watch her leave in the distance to have some time alone. Ava groans in annoyance and sits down on the pitch black floor holding her arms close to her knees. She leans her head down on her knees and sighs quickly. She can feel the water works come to play and she closes her eyes trying to hold it all in. She thinks back to when Bea and her first meet, the way she didn’t run off from the table when she sat down, but engaged with her. Even if it was for a little bit, it still meant a lot to her then Bea knew. She sighs and opens her eyes.

In the distance is a small light shining, this made Ava curious on what is beyond the light. She slowly gets up to her feet and starts walking towards the strange light. “I advise you not to go there, Ava.” Ava jumps at the sound of Reya’s voice behind her. “For fuck sakes, do you always do that to people or just me?” “Just you.” Ava rolls her eyes at Reya and Reya slightly smiles at her. “You were joking, fantastic.” Reya laughs and replies, “You’re getting there.”

Ava looks at the light and back at Reya. Reya shakes her head no and Ava gives another look in the distance. “What is in the light?” “Back to the world, but—“ Ava runs towards the light as fast as she can. “AVA DON’T” Ava ignores Reya in the distance and all she can think of is running back to Bea. Her lover, her friends and her home. That’s all she wants is to be home and free.

As she gets closer to the light, she makes a sudden stop and sees Bea sitting down by the dining table of their old apartment. “Bea…” She slowly walks into the light and little did she know what the damage will cost.
