Work Text:

Have you ever heard of Lisa Minci? Yes, the former Mondstat librarian. Let me tell you a story about her.

She's an intelligent woman with a perfect body and an electrifying gaze. She studied in Sumeru Akademiya for two years and graduated as the "Best Student in 200 years". I could've never imagined such a woman having a romantic interest in me. I wish that I could say it back to her.

She was gentle yet determined with her job as the librarian. Lisa made sure that the shelves were spotless. One time, she even closed the library for a major cleanup. Gosh, that took days to finish. When it was, she was sleeping on one of the library tables, undisturbed, unwakeable. Everyone insisted that I was going to carry her to her house. They were smiling at each other when I did so. Her skin was silky smooth, but her hands were rough due to the massive projects she had done. I put her to bed before observing her room for a bit. Everything was aesthetically purple-themed. She left a lavender-scented candle burning. The smell calmed my mood. I turned the knob off her front door when I noticed something odd. It didn't match anything in the room. It was just there. It was a glass hour filled with Sumeru's desert sand. I noticed that the top was about to empty, but I ignored that. I shouldn't have.

It was July 9th, her birthday. When everyone had left the Favonious Headquarters, she sneaks into my office. "Hello, Jean." she greeted me. I smiled at her as she continued to speak. "I thought that your office was a bit... Bland. So, to fix that, I'm giving you this rose. Take good care of it." she said as she caressed my cheek with one hand and patted my head with the other, giving my cheeks kisses as if savoring me like she wouldn't see me again. My cheeks flushed. "H-hey... Shouldn't I be the one giving you presents?" I asked. She laughs her burdens off, "Of course, silly! Me giving you this doesn't mean I don't expect a gift from you." I sighed. She was so beautiful. The painful thing is that this is all a memory.

Mondstat, the city of freedom, is now under the influence of war. "Don't worry. I'll lend a hand when the time comes." She once said, and she did so too. The sounds of a windy breeze are replaced with screaming civilians fleeing for their life. She stood in the middle of the city. Her eyes were filled with rage as powerful lightning appeared from her hand. She released all the energy she had kept. She fists her hand, and thunder strikes the enemies in the power range. She felt light and fell to her knees. She crawled to find anyone she could recognize, and she found me. She crawls to me, and I grab her tightly. She is heavily wounded, and she looks exhausted. Tears flow down her cheeks and fell on my face as she captured me in her gaze, her hand moving mine to hold her close. "Jean, I knew this time would come eventually. I'm sorry for not telling you earlier when I still have time." The sudden realization hit me. That hourglass represented her life span. It was short. I should have turned it around. I should have- "Unfortunately, my time has run out." No, you don't need to tell me twice. "Jean, I love y-you..." And that was that. I couldn't say or do anything. I just sat there. Holding her corpse and crying.

To this day I take care of the flower as she told me to. It looks so beautiful it hurts.

Have you ever heard of Lisa Minci? Yes, the former Mondstat librarian. She loved me. I never felt so much regret in my life than not asking her if she was alright.
