Night sky

Summary:

After months of running around in the wild, you and Bofur are thrilled to just relax in each other's company.

Work Text:

You giggled as Bofur led you by your hand, your eyes squeezed closed as you promised.
"Where are we going?" You stumbled a bit, but Bofur's hands were there to steady you instantly.
"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise." You were itching to take a peek but couldn't, the dark fabric over your eyes blocked your vision completely. Bofur had promised to take it off the moment you reached your destination, and you trusted him completely.
"But I want to knooow." You whined, and he let out a laugh, leading you into another hallway.
"We're almost there." He promised you, giving your arm a squeeze as your steps gained more speed. You wanted to know what this surprise was about, he had been going on about it for the past three days.

Bofur let go of your hand and the fabric around your eyes loosened, sliding off.
"We're here." He declared, and you blinked your eyes to clear your vision. A blanket was spread to the ground, a few candles burning around it, and a basket filled with different fruit and nuts rested next to it. Above you, a clear starry sky opened, the thousands of stars twinkling brightly.
"Oh, it's wonderful!" You cried, jumping into your husband's neck, your lips pressing onto his. The kiss was passionate, your teeth clashing into each other once or twice but neither of you cared. You had waited for so long to be alone, without a dozen other dwarves looming around and watching your every move.

You lay down on the blanket, looking up at the bright night sky, the thousands of stars and the nearly full moon shining, bathing you in their cold light.
"Strawberry?" A bowl filled with deep red berries appeared in front of you, and you grabbed one, taking a bite out immediately. You let out a small moan at the taste, licking the sweet juice of your lips as Bofur watched you. Your hair was open, the strands moving slightly in the wind. Your eyes were fixed on the sky, your face locked into a look of wonder. Your fingers were twirling the ring on your finger, your fingers absentmindedly tracing the diamond.

A cold breeze blew, making you shiver in the chilling night. Bofur noticed the tremble in your limbs, and laid down next to you, pulling you to his side and allowing you to rest your head on his chest. The heat from his body kept you warm, and you sighed in contentment as you relaxed against him.
"I wish it could be like this, always." He mumbled against your temple, and you gave a hum of agreement. You could feel his lips moving against your skin as he lowered them to your cheek, peppering your skin with kisses. His mustache tickled your skin, and you let out a giggle, trying to wiggle into a different position to stop the feeling on your skin. You tried to squirm so his lips to stop the tickling sensation, but Bofur's arms tightened around you, making it impossible for you to slip out of his hold.
"Where are you going?" He asks, the air of his breath combined with his mustache make you giggle out loud.
"It tickles." This draws a small laugh out of Bofur, who drags you upwards on the blanket so your lips are at the same level.

Your head turns to shift your eyes back to the sky, but they snap back to Bofur as he plants a small peck on your lips.
"Better?" You tilt your head at his question, and he pecks your lips again.
"Does it tickle anymore?" Giggling, you give him a small kiss as you tuck yourself closer to his side, shifting your eyes to look at the stunning night sky. The thousands of stars are shining brightly tonight, no clouds are blocking your view of the sky.
"Isn't it beautiful here?" You sigh, eyes fixed on the stars.
"Yes." Bofur's eyes aren't on the sky when he responds. They are on you, sliding across your awestruck features as you look at the stars, leaning comfortably against him to keep the cool night air away from your skin.
