Work Text:
Tweek swung his legs back and forth on the bed, mouth running a mile an hour while Craig sat on the floor and played on his handheld device. He nodded every now and then, answering questions occasionally when he was prompted. He loved being with Tweek like this. When he let him ramble on and on in this way, Tweek rarely twitched, but he definitely stimmed and ticced, a loud “GAH” escaping him. Craig looked over at him for a moment, his interest caught by his legs swinging to and fro, and occasionally his hands flapping when he got particularly excited.
He refocused on his game, thumbs moving practically on their own, enthralled by the bright lights and Tweek’s voice and his occasional yelping from something he might’ve seen outside.
Tweek slumped down, now sitting beside Craig instead. “What’cha playing?”
“Oh, you done rambling?” Craig asked, glancing over at him.
“A little,” he stuttered, his eye twitching. “Do you like this game?” His voice was as shrill as always, but something about it soothed Craig in a way.
“Psh, of course.” In the same way, Craig’s monotonous and bland voice soothed Tweek. It was simple, and he was always straight to the point, and something about that made Tweek feel better. “Don’t you play games? I feel like I’ve never seen you do something normal.”
“I’m normal!” he exclaimed. “But, no, I, uh, I don’t really like games like that. I, um, get too into it, and it can really get to me. Sometimes.”
“Oh. Maybe you shouldn’t watch me play this.”
“I’m not. I don’t wanna. What’re you supposed to do?” He watched Craig’s face, eyes glimpsing downward on occasion. He was starting to stutter again, though, and he didn’t seem super keen on rambling again.
Craig started talking. “Well… See, I’m pretty far in the game right now, so it might not make a lot of sense now, but currently I’m trying to get…” and he didn’t stop. He kept talking, and talking, and talking, absentmindedly explaining how the game worked and what he was doing and what the goal of the game was, and he kept talking on and on. Tweek watched him talk with great interest, a smile on his face, tapping his fingers on the floor.
He watched his thumbs move expertly on the buttons, far more interested in how his voice seemed to, for once, show a type of emotion Tweek rarely heard. I mean, it wasn’t like Craig was emotionless. He just knew he struggled to express that in his voice, or face, or anything overall. But Tweek always knew what he meant, he’s learned, now.
It was like he was really passionate about it. And Tweek was happy about that. Like how Craig would, he answered with short responses when he was prompted to, and made noises that signified he was interested when he was supposed to. He noticed that Craig had started to rock back and forth slightly, and Tweek started imitating him.
“How long have you been playing?” Tweek asked, whenever he started getting a little quiet.
He snickered. “I mean, I’ve only recently got this game, it just came out. But I’ve been playing this series since I could, like, walk.”
“Really?!” He gaped. “That’s- that’s so long!”
“I just like it a lot,” he shrugged. “The games are good. I would say you should play them, but, uhh.. I don’t think your heart could take something like that.”
“Prob’ly not.” He readjusted on the floor beside him. “I-I mean, I practically know all about it now, anyway.”
Craig snickered, and went quiet for a moment before he gasped. He stopped rocking. “Oh my god, how long have I been talking?”
Tweek ticced, snapping out of a relaxed trance he had been in since he started talking. He looked at the clock in his room. “Umm, maybe, uh, forty minutes.”
“Forty minutes?! Straight?”
“…Y-Yeah..?”
“…God, really?” Craig murmured. “Sorry for talking for so long. You were probably really bored.” He looked away.
“I wasn’t bored at all!!” Tweek laughed, hitting his shoulder. “I like hearing you talk for so long. You sounded like- real! You never sound real!”
He rolled his eyes. “Oh whatever.” He turned off his game and set it aside. “You’re calm. You’re never calm.”
“Your voice is really soothing! You should read an audiobook or something.” He ticced after his sentence, and Craig laughed.
“Maybe I’ll do that. Would you listen to it?”
“Of course! Every night!”
“Gay ass.” Craig laughed and ruffled his hair, and Tweek hugged him tightly.
