Work Text:

Klaus sat in front of the kettle, singing a Mariah Carey song off-key as he waited for the water to boil.

Soon, his restlessness got the best of him and he got up, puttering around the kitchen, locating a large mug and some tea bags.

The kettle had barely begun whistling when there was a flurry of blue and a gentle thwoop sound as a disheveled Five popped into existence.

“Coffee?” he grunted, staring intently at the steam rising out of the kettle.

“No, mi hermano,” Klaus responded, picking up the kettle and pouring the water into his mug, “it’s just hot tea water I’m afraid.”

There was a grumble of annoyance, followed by another flurry of blue as Five left, supposedly headed back to bed, now that there wasn’t coffee to rouse him.

Klaus rolled his eyes at the space Five has just vacated and clutched his mug to his chest, reveling in the warmth seeping into his hands.

He made his way back to his room and settled into his pillows, bringing the mug up to his nose for an inhale, letting the steam gently caress his face. He sighed, slowly sipping the hot tea as he burrowed into his mass of blankets.

He closed his eyes and hummed, before being interrupted by a pointed cough.

“Well?” Ben snarked from his usual; seat in the corner.

“Alright, alright, you were right.” Klaus muttered, “It does help”

“I told you so.”

“No need to be so smug about it Benerino. How DID you know this anyway?”

Ben smiled sadly, “When we used to get back from really bad missions and I couldn’t sleep, you’d always sneak down to the kitchen to make me tea, because it was my favorite. You always got yourself a mug too. Don’t think you ever noticed but you never had nightmares on those nights.”

“Aww Benny! I love you too.”

“Shut up and go the fuck to sleep Klaus.”
