    Vegas uttered it in a whisper of a voice. Pete froze in his tracks, turning slowly to face him, incredulous.
    "What the fuck is wrong with you? I almost killed you right now."
    Vegas faintly smiled — a twisted grin that made Pete's skin crawl.
    "I know," he replied. "And that's what makes it all the more exciting."

    Pete took a step back, feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He had always known Vegas was unpredictable, but this was a whole new level of crazy.

    "I'm serious," Pete said, his voice lethal. "Stay away from me, or I will eventually kill you."

    Vegas managed to laugh.
    "My little Pete," he said, "you really don't understand how this works, do you? You're mine. Mine to consume entirely. Every inch of your delectable self is mine—mine to hold, mine to caress, mine to keep. Wherever you are, even if it is hell, I will find you. And if I have to fill this city with bodies to have you, I will."

    Vegas doesn’t want love. He wants Pete — in pieces or whole.
