Am I (16, M, Human) the asshole for pretending my friend (18, M, Ferengi) drank our chief of security?
To be fair, my friend has developed a new habit of drinking directly out of my cups any time I try a new "human" drink he hasn't heard of yet. He's really excited about Starfleet, and wants to make sure he has as much exposure to human culture as possible before going.
The thing is... I think it's gross. And I'm pretty sure he backwashes. He doesn't even ask half the time, just goes "What's this?" and then before I can reply he'll take a swig.
I've asked him to stop numerous times before but he doesn't really see what the big deal is because we're normally fine taking food off each other's plates. So I decided to prank him instead.
Earlier today at lunch, I brought my meal to the table to meet him, my cup filled with a mysterious viscous liquid. Whe my friend asked what it was, I told him it wasn't any of his business, and did not explain any more of the matter. I then excused myself to the bathroom, as my friend was looking antsy about trying my drink, to give him motivation to go all the way. But when I returned, my friend was beaming, saying that this was "the most delicious drink he's ever had" so much so that he finished all of it. I mostly expected he'd find it horrible, but I needed to think on the fly, so I told him the drink actually contained our chief of security (35? M? liquid?) who was taking a nap, when in actuality it was just maple syrup.
My friend immediately freaked out, going into a panic about how he'll "never get into Starfleet now", and before I could say anything, my dad showed up and dragged me to a parent-teacher meeting because I've been writing my original story during class instead of paying attention.
Unfortunately, since I didn't get to tell my friend he really didn't drink our chief of security, he went to his uncle (38?, M, Ferengi) for help. His uncle has a sort of cat-and-mouse game going on with the chief of security, so while helping my friend he decided to do some illegal activities and invited some of his nefarious contacts to come to the station to hold an illegal auction of weapons he'd collected from starfleet over the years on the station.
Well, this led to both my friend punching himself in the stomach until he threw up, to his uncle getting arrested by the real alive chief of security so now he's in a holding cell and my friend won't talk to me.
Help.
