So Much For The Plan

Summary:

Louis Agreste is planning how to come out as trans to his parents.

The fact that they let their kids use miraculous from time to time helps.

Work Text:

Louis had it all figured out.

His parents were fine with lending out miraculous, under supervision, when asked.

He hadn’t taken them up on it yet, himself, but his siblings Emma and Hugo both had.

Seeing Emma transformed by Plagg’s magic into a catgirl had been hilarious, and given Louis something to tease her about for years to come.

Emma claimed that feeling the power of a cataclysm raging in her hand was worth the embarrassment.

Hugo, on the other hand, had asked for the dragon miraculous. He’d wanted to feel what it was like to turn into wind, or water.

Louis had a more practical application in mind.

There was something he wanted to tell his parents, something that terrified him to share.

If he could borrow the snake miraculous- if he had the opportunity to take back whatever he might tell them- then he’d have nothing to worry about.

Well, technically, they’d know he was using Second Chance. They could hide their true feelings until he’d timed out. But Louis didn’t think they would.

Second Chance seemed like the perfect way to come out to them as a trans guy.

“So, Fei,” mom asked. “You said you wanted to try one of the miraculous?”

Louis took a breath, psyching himself up. “Yeah,” he said quietly. “Could I- could I use the snake?”

Dad pulled the bracelet out of the miracle box, handing it over with a smile. “Interesting choice,” he said with a knowing smirk. “Looking for 5 minutes without consequences?”

Louis couldn’t help but smile right back at the thought of all the trouble he could get up to with 5 minutes consequence-free. “Something like that,” he quipped.

“Greetingsssss, young one,” Sass hissed as he manifested. “You have grown a lot ssssince I lassssst sssaw you.”

With a look of determination on his face, Louis twisted the miraculous on his wrist. He felt empowered when he called out; “Sass, scales slither!”

Mom snickered.

Mom wasn’t supposed to snicker.

“Well, I think I know what you were going to use Second Chance to talk to us about,” she said dryly.

Louis looked down at his superhero outfit.

His decidedly masculine superhero outfit, which had entirely upstaged his coming out.

“...Can I get a refund?” he asked meekly. “I kinda want to try out Mirage…”
