Calypso sat in the passenger’s seat of Leo’s Jeep, silent as a mouse. She was daydreaming. Daydreaming about the man beside her.
He was wonderful. He’d actually come back to Ogygia and freed her. Of course, She’d fallen in love with him before he came back. But he was never sure of it, and frankly he wasn’t sure if he felt the same way.
However, lately something felt different… literally.
It wasn’t a bad different. She rather liked it. But it left her feeling flustered and flushed. He’d been more… hands on in a way. He seemed to like touching her a lot, much more than he had been. Whenever he was remotely speaking to her, his hands would be on her shoulders, holding her hands, sometimes even on her waist.
When they were driving around in his Jeep as they talked, his hand would be on her knee.
She didn’t know why, but he was extremely touchy-feely with her. She’d seen how he spoke with his other female friends as well as his male friends. And he never touched them as often as he did her. Yet, he was rarely not touching her.
At some points, Calypso would think that possibly he might have figured out how he felt about her. Maybe he found out he loved her, or maybe he was trying to cushion the blow. Then again, to shoot down the first assumption, she’d been told how he acted around his crushes…. Not that she asked.
But they emphasized the fact that he used to act that way. He knew her, unlike the multitude of his other crushes. He didn’t feel as though he were walking on eggshells with her.
Unfortunately, Calypso didn’t buy it.
She was so caught in her thoughts, she didn’t notice Leo trying to catch her attention.
All she could think about was his curly chocolate locks, his coffee eyes, and his light cocoa skin. His playful, sweet nature. He was witty and even more so annoying, but she wouldn’t change anything about him. She loved that adorable doofus.
Leo had realized how silent Calypso had been. He’d just parked in the parking lot of his favorite repair parts shop. He waved his hand in front of her face and snapped in her face. It wasn’t until he put his hand over her knee, that she snapped back to reality. She nearly jumped in response.
Leo immediately laughed at her reaction.
Calypso’s face went red and she nudged him in the elbow with the back of her hand.
When Leo managed to stop laughing, he smiled his goofy smile, and he unbuckled his seat, sitting horizontally. “A penny for your thoughts.”
“Nothing, Valdez. I’m not thinking about anything.” Calypso excused, her red cheeks betraying her. She sat horizontally in her seat, facing him.
Leo chuckled, “Okay, Sunshine, I guess you smile all girly when you’re of ‘nothing’.”
Calypso nodded and looked away, “Yes, I do.”
“Really?” Leo took a penny out from one of his pockets, flipped it, grabbed her hand, and put the penny into it. “A penny for your thoughts .”
Calypso’s cheeks burned.
Leo took another coin out from his pocket, and he put it into her hand. He slowly moved towards her, leaning in closer to her face. He gently pressed his lips on hers. “A nickel for a kiss.”
Calypso blinked fervently, “And-and a dime for you to tell me you love me.” She stammered.
“I love you.” Leo whispered. “I really do. I was hoping you’d figure it out.”
Calypso shook her head, “What? How was I supposed to figure that out? All you did was touch me a lot. What kind of clue is that?”
Leo smirked in amusement, “That’s just kinda how I show it. Though I’m glad you didn’t piece it together.”
“So you planned this, as a ‘just in case?’ You’re so corny.”
“Nah, I hate corn.” Leo shook his head distastefully.
Calypso rolled her eyes and brought her lips to Leo’s.
“I love you,” She said as she pulled away.
