Why Fucking Not?

Summary:

“Are we dating?”

Eijirou sputtered, feeling his cheeks heat up. The silence from his other friends made him flush more, before they started to giggle. Eijirou cleared his throat, blinking a couple times. Bakugou looked at him expectantly.

“N-no, we’re not dating.”

Bakugou’s brow furrowed again, “Why the fuck not?”

---

Bakugou gets knocked in the head during training, losing his memories for a couple days. Kirishima thought everything would be okay, except for the fact the blond seems convinced that they're dating.

Work Text:

“Bakugou!” Eijirou yelled, running towards him. He skidded to a stop as he reached him, hands hovering above his body.

They had been training in Gym Gamma, grouped into twos. Obviously, Bakugou and Eijirou had paired up. They had been at their wits end, neither of them being able to pin the other down, sweat dripping down their faces. Bakugou had set an explosion at the floor, causing more dust to float up, making it harder for Eijirou to see. Eijirou hardened his body, nearly going full Unbreakable waiting for Bakugou to come at him. He saw Bakugou’s silhouette coming straight for him, taking a step back to brace himself when Bakugou shot himself up and over Eijirou’s form, releasing an explosion from behind him. The power sent him flying forward, and he swerved to dodge the fist that hit the ground right where his face would’ve been. He hopped up to his feet, grin matching Bakugou’s. But his grin quickly fell when a rock came flying through the dust still floating and hit Bakugou head first, knocking him to the ground.

Which brought him to now, other classmates surrounding his unconscious body. Apparently, it wasn’t a rock, but a chunk of Todoroki’s ice sent flying from Midoriya’s kick. Said boy was muttering, pacing back and forth in worry. Eijirou looked back down at Bakugou, a steady trickle of blood flowing from his head. He tried tapping on his cheek, trying to get him to stir.

Aizawa came quickly, pushing the crowd of kids out of the way, kneeling next to Eijirou. “What happened?”

Eijirou took in a shaky breath, “A chunk of Todoroki’s ice hit him in the head when he wasn’t looking. It was a pretty big piece too.”

Aizawa nodded, two fingers moving to rest on Bakugou’s neck, where his pulse was. After a few seconds of tense silence, Aizawa let out a small breath, turning to Eijirou.

“Take him to Recovery Girl. Come back when you’re done to continue your training. He should be fine.”

Eijirou nodded determinedly, gathering Bakugou in his arms, lifting him up and hurrying out of the Gym. He heard Midoriya apologize, but Aizawa shushed him, telling everyone to get back to training.

He wanted to be quick, but didn’t want to jostle Bakugou, so he opted for speed walking. He adjusted Bakugou in his arms, knocking quickly on Recovery Girls’ door, pulling his arm back to steady Bakugou. He tapped his foot anxiously, hearing the tip taps of her footsteps on the floor. The door creaked open and he perked up, grin pulling at his lips. Recovery Girl went to smile but frowned when she saw a limp Bakugou in his arms.

“What happened?”

“Accident. He got hit in the head pretty bad.”

She nodded, motioning him to come in. He walked in, shuffling Bakugou in his arms until he could comfortably place him on the small bed. He took a step back, frowning. He had to go back but felt bad for leaving his bro here.

“Will he be okay?”

“He’ll be alright, dear. I’ll have him healed up nice and quick. You go ahead and go back.”

He nodded, bowing slightly, “Thank you! I’ll be back to check on him later!”

He left the room, leaving an unconscious Bakugou by himself. Shoving the guilt aside, he lifted his head up. Bakugou would be fine. He’s been through worse.

Eijirou makes it back in time to get in a little more training, before being dismissed. He rushed out of his clothes, taking an incredibly quick shower, and slinging his bag over his shoulder. As he made his way towards Recovery Girls’ office, he was joined by Kaminari, Ashido and Sero.

Kaminari slung his arm across Eijirou’s shoulders, “Going to visit Kacchan?”

“Yeah! He got hit pretty hard back there. Just wanna see if he’s up and okay.”

Kaminari groaned, “Of course you’re being a considerate, pining idiot.”

Eijirou sputtered, “Wha- I’m not- I’m not pining!”

The three of them snickered. “Don’t think we didn’t see the way you rushed to his side.” Sero pointed out.

“I didn’t rush-”

“Your face looked like the world had ended! It was so cute!” Ashido squealed.

“Hey-!”

The door in front of them was yanked open, an upset Recovery Girl behind it. “Will you four please be quiet? Your classmate is trying to rest.”

Eijirou immediately apologized, bowing deeply, his friends following suit. Once he straightened out again, he looked at her with concern. “Is Bakugou up yet?”

She nodded, “He is, but I’m afraid he won’t remember much.”

“He’s got amnesia?!” They all shouted.

“Shush. Yes. Retrograde to be exact. Thankfully, the damage doesn’t seem to be too bad, and he should easily get his memories back. In a week or two.”

“A week or two?!”

“Shush! Stop repeating what I say. You can come see him but he most likely won’t remember you. It seems he doesn’t ever remember applying to UA, so it would make sense he doesn’t remember meeting any of you. Now, be gentle, and don’t rush him. I’m sure none of you would like to be overwhelmed by strangers who keep saying they know you.”

They all nodded understandably, keeping their mouths shut. Recovery Girl nodded once, and opened the door wider to let them in. They made their way inside the room, seeing Bakugou on a bed, IV stuck in his arm and looking out the window. They made their way towards him slowly, not wanting to startle him. Bakugou turned to look at them, sensing people were in the room. A look of confusion crossed his face, looking at each of them. Then his gaze landed on Eijirou, and some sort of recollection flashed in his eyes. It made Eijirou smile.

“Hey Bakugou! Recovery Girl said you don’t remember much? D’you recognize any of us?” Eijirou started, smiling warmly, coming to stand at the side of his bed.

Bakugou shook his head, no. But then his eyes were trained on Eijirou, and he lifted his hand to point at him. “I… know you.” He stated simply.

Eijirou nodded, smiling wider. “Yeah! I’m Kirishima! We’re really close! And these-” He motioned towards the others, all of them waving and smiling, “-are your other friends!’

Eijirou turned to look at Bakugou, watching him scan over each of them. When his brow furrowed in confusion, they introduced themselves. He sat up straighter, and pointed his finger to point at Eijirou again. “I know him.” His hand moved to point towards the others. “Not you.”

Kaminari and Ashido groaned in defeat, Sero laughing. “Of course Bakugou would only remember Kirishima.”

Kaminari whined. “It’s not fair! We hang out with him too!”

Ashido put a hand on his shoulder solemnly. “Blasty just likes Kirishima more than us.” They both looked at the floor in mock-sadness. It made Bakugou roll his eyes. At least he still got annoyed with them! That was something.

“Anyway!” Eijirou started, ignoring his friends' antics they were still pulling. Bakugou’s eyes moved to meet his. “How are you feeling? Anything hurt?” He asked as he sat beside him, reaching a hesitant hand out to lay across the others. Bakugou’s eyes followed his hand, before they snapped back up to look at Eijirou. He smiled, waiting for an answer, but Bakugou just stared, eyes calculating. Eventually, after a few beats of silence, Eijirou began to grow uncomfortable. Had he pushed too far with the hand thing? They held hands a couple times… and he remembers him, doesn’t he?

Then Bakugou opened his mouth, and Eijirou let out a soft sigh of relief. Which was quickly stolen with Bakugou’s next words.

At that, the whole Bakusquad burst into laughter. Except for Eijirou. No, he- He didn’t know what to say. What were you supposed to say to that?! Bakugou was basically upset that they weren’t dating! How were you supposed to- His heart was beating erratically, flush reaching his neck. Bakugou looked genuinely confused as to why they weren’t dating, and it made Eijirou’s heart soar. But no, Bakugou was just. He didn’t know any better, is all! It didn’t matter that it made Eijirou feel giddy that Bakugou thought they were dating. It didn’t matter because it was a simple misunderstanding.

“Well-”

Bakugou turned to the others, “Is he lying to me?”

Ashido fell on the floor, clutching her stomach from laughing, the others doing the same. Nice to see they were getting a kick out of Eijirou’s misfortune. Well, blessing, because Bakugou is so precious, but not the point.

“What?! I’m not!”

Bakugou turned back to look at Eijirou, glaring. He crossed his arms, pouting slightly like a child. “Well, I don’t believe you.”

Eijirou lifted his hands to cover his face. “We’re not dating though?!”

Hands pulled at his, Bakugou smiling smugly. “Then why are you all flushed and embarrassed, babe?”

Eijirou let out a strangled noise, trying to lean away from Bakugou’s face, which made himself fall on the floor. Bakugou Katsuki did not just call him ‘babe’. Bakugou wouldn’t- Why was he so convinced they were dating?! Eijirou hadn’t even done much! He was being nice! Bakugou peeked over the edge of his bed. Eijirou just stared at him, stared at the smug smile still on his face. Eijirou’s face burned and his friends were still laughing and holy shit he had to put a stop to this.

“You alright ba-”

Eijirou quickly shot up and covered Bakugou’s mouth, eyes wide. He could feel Bakugou’s smile pressed into his palm, could see his eyes crinkle and holy fuck he was so gay.

He gathered up his courage, “I don’t know what to tell you man, but we’re not dating.”

He could feel Bakugou’s smile fall, and immediately regretted his words. But he stayed strong because it was the truth. Painful, but the truth. Plus, when Bakugou got his memories back, he wouldn’t mind that they weren’t dating. It was for the best.

It was.

Bakugou’s eyes fell, and Eijirou didn’t like seeing him sad so he blurted out, “It’s okay though! Let’s just go back to the dorms, yeah?”

Bakugou looked at him once more, pulling his hand away from his face, a determined frown pulled at his lips. “Okay. But just for the record. I still don’t believe you.”

Eijirou sighed. Why couldn’t he just listen?

He picked himself up, helping Bakugou stand. The squad was still giggling, but they too picked themselves off the floor, already on their way out. Eijirou went to follow them, pulling away from Bakugou, when a hand shot out to grab his. His eyes went wide and he turned to look behind him. Bakugou was looking at the joined hands, smiling softly, and holy shit Eijirou was okay with suffering if Bakugou was happy.

“I’m telling you, Red.” Scarlet eyes rose to meet a matching set. “We’re dating.”

Eijirou flushed, all the way down to his neck. It was going to be a long day and a long couple of weeks.

Eijirou regretted bringing Bakugou back to the dorms. He should have gone ahead and told everyone that Bakugou didn’t remember any of them. It couldn’t have been fun to walk into the building being bombarded by questions that he didn’t know the answers to. Thankfully after some explaining, they managed to calm themselves quite a bit, but still. Eijirou couldn’t help but feel bad for making Bakugou overwhelmed, the blond deciding to stick behind Eijirou the whole while.

“Guys, guys, let’s back up a bit, yeah? Give him some space please.” Eijirou said, hands out to keep them a ways away.

The group backed up immediately, still lingering, but better. Eijirou nodded once and side-stepped so that Bakugou was in view. The blond stiffened up but faced them nonetheless. He glanced towards Eijirou, who flashed him an encouraging smile.

Now, Eijirou’s been told he has a nice smile. That it makes other people smile, and that it makes others happy. But with Bakugou it never seemed to do that. Especially in front of other people. But amnesia Bakugou? He gave zero shits and smiled back. And not a small, barely there smile, no. A whole ass grin. Gums and all, and if the wasn’t the cutest fucking thing- In front of the whole class. Who was now gasping at the sight, looking back and forth between Eijirou and Bakugou comically. But he just turned back towards the group, smile disappearing.

“What do you wanna know, extras?”

Uraraka stepped up first, “Bakugou, how do you feel? Does anything hurt?”

Midoriya jumped in, “Do you remember me?”

“Are you still an asshole?”

Everyone turned to glare at Mineta, quickly ignoring him and turning back to Bakugou. Eijirou stepped closer to him, “You can ignore that last question.”

Bakugou glanced at him and gave him a smirk. “Yeah, I fucking remember you. Unfortunately.”

Midoryia nodded, like he was expecting that answer, but didn’t seem bothered by it.

“And to answer your questions,” He nodded towards Uraraka. He stepped away from Eijirou slightly, reaching to grab his hand tightly. He held it in front of him, which dragged Eijirou closer, Eijirou’s eyes widening. He looked Eijirou right in the eyes and said. “I’m okay when I’m with Red.”

Everyone erupted with cheers, making Eijirou positive you couldn’t tell where his hair stopped, his face burning. He was looking at everyone, heart beating in his throat, when a tug on his hand pulled his eyes away from them. He turned to Bakugou who was still looking him in the eyes. He took a deep breath in. Fuck, he always loved Bakugou’s eyes. They were flickering back and forth between his own. He could feel Bakugou’s breath on his lips, noses barely touching. Red eyes flickered down, his doing the same. He could feel Bakugou moving ever so slightly closer and-

Quickly he jerked back, chest heaving. He noticed the room was now silent, everyone too busy staring at them. He cleared his throat, looking back to Bakugou seeing the disappointed look on his face. Eijirou let a shaky smile form on his lips.

“Uhm, I-I bet you’re hungry, huh Bakugou? Let’s go get you some food.” He addressed the group, “You can ask him some more questions later, if he’s up to it!”

And with that he spun Bakugou around and started guiding him to the kitchen. He had to get his heart under control. That was way too fucking close. He swallowed the lump in his throat, hoping his hands weren’t sweating too much. He scolded himself internally. That was not manly, he could not play with Bakugou’s feelings like that. Bakugou was confused and didn’t know anybody, except Midoryia, but he still knew that he knows Eijirou, so he’s just attached to him because he’s something familiar. That’s all. He’s just comfortable with Eijirou and he’s confusing those feelings for something stronger, something he doesn’t actually feel towards the redhead. Not like how Eijirou felt for Bakugou.

Eijirou sat Bakugou on a counter stool, turning to the fridge and pulling out their leftovers from the other night. He grabbed a pan, placed it on the stove and the contents into it, flicking the burner on and letting it warm up. While it was heating up, he grabbed two plates for the both of them, walking towards Bakugou and setting one in front of him. Bakugou looked up at him, not saying anything, and yet it still made his heart flutter. He smiled, and turned back towards the food. He let it simmer and stirred it around, until he deemed it ‘cooked’.

He placed it in front of Bakugou for him to dish out, walking to sit next to him. After Bakugou was done he reached for the food but Bakugou slapped his hand, yanking his plate away from him. Eijirou blinked owlishly.

“Uh, bro? Can I have some food?”

“One fucking second, Red.”

Eijirou closed his eyes. Again with that nickname, it was so manly and made his heart swell with affection. He opened his eyes when food was being pressed to his lips. Bakugou looked at him, hand held up, holding the food to Eijirou’s mouth. And Eijirou’s brain decided to not work so he merely stared back. He could tell Bakugou was getting impatient when he brought another hand up and squished Eijirou’s cheeks together, Eijirou’s mouth opening in a small ‘o’. Bakugou proceeded to shove the food into his mouth, forcing Eijirou to cough.

“What the hell, Bakugou?!” He coughed out.

“You were taking too damn long. Now, I’ll be gentle if you open your mouth by yourself this time.” Bakugou said, already piecing together another bite.

“B-Bakugou I can eat myself-”

“Shut up.” Bakugou muttered, way too fondly for Eijirou’s soul.

But when he realized Bakugou was expecting him to take another bite, heat rose to his cheeks in embarrassment. He couldn’t- he could just eat himself! He didn’t need Bakugou to- Why was he doing this?!

Eijirou snapped out of his thoughts when he saw Bakugou getting impatient again. Not wanting food to be shoved down his throat, he took the bite of food, chewing softly. And holy shit he had no idea Bakugou could smile at him so damn proudly, and if he had to shove the embarrassment down for another one of those? So fucking be it. So he took another bite. And another and another, Bakugou’s smile widening each time.

Dinner was going swell, Bakugou seemed to be enjoying feeding him, and Eijirou was striving to make those smiles happen as much as possible. Until Eijirou heard a snicker. He paused, just about to take another bite. He looked at Bakugou who was trying and failing to bite back a laugh. Eijirou looked over his shoulder, Ashido, Kaminari, Jirou, and Uraraka looking back at him. Phones facing towards them.

“What- What are you doing?!”

They all cackled with laughter, including Bakugou. Eijirou whipped towards him.

“You knew they were there?!”

Bakugou didn’t answer, just laughed harder, trying to cover his mouth. Eijirou turned around, about to chastise them, but they were already running away, back to the common room. He pouted, still hearing Bakugou’s giggles behind him.

“How long were they there?” He whined.

“Maybe, five minutes?”

“Five minutes?!” Eijirou shrieked.

Bakugou burst into laughter again, slamming a fist on the table.

“Bakugou no, you can’t laugh! They’re going to use that against me! Especially Ashido! She loves blackmail!” Eijirou tried to cover Bakugou’s mouth to quiet him, but it only backfired. “Oh my god shush. Eat your food!”

Bakugou took a deep breath in, wiping at the corner of his eye, a smile resting on his lips. Eijirou’s breath hitched. Fuck, he’d been so embarrassed he completely ignored the fact that Bakugou was laughing. God he was an idiot. He wished he hadn’t told Bakugou to stop. He watched in awe as Bakugou ate his food, looking so fucking content for someone who didn’t know the people around them, or where they were exactly. Bakugou was so… so brave.

So pretty too.

Perfect, honestly.

But never mind that. He shook his head, smiling softly and picking up his plate and rinsing it in the sink, Bakugou joining him a second later.

“Think you’re up to answering some questions? Or would you rather get to know everybody?”

Bakugou hummed in thought.

“Or y’know I could just take you to your room to rest too.”

Bakugou scoffed. “I can handle a few extras’ questions.”

“Okay! Great! Let’s-”

He paused, Bakugou quirking an eyebrow at him. Eijirou swallowed. He’d have to get used to that. He smiled. “Let’s go!”

Bakugou smiled softly, swinging their joined hands between them slightly.

Okay, apparently Eijirou was full of bad ideas today, because having Bakugou surrounded by people he didn’t know made him clearly a little uncomfortable so he stuck close to Eijirou. Real close. On a couch. So Eijirou couldn’t really move anywhere as he was trapped between the armrest and Bakugou pressing his whole side against Eijirou.

They’d cuddled before. They’d shared the same bed before. But the thing was, they only ever woke up cuddling. And they never said anything afterwards. And yes, this may not be considered cuddling, but Bakugou was still blatantly showing he wanted to be near Eijirou, and initiating physical contact to do that.

Physical contact! Bakugou! Those don’t go in the same sentence!

So yes, Eijirou was panicking. It was incredibly hard to focus on the questions Bakugou was asking and being asked. And to say his brain short circuited when Bakugou slipped his hand into Eijirou’s hoodie pocket to hold his hand, well. He definitely felt like Kaminari when he overused his quirk.

But he wasn’t Kaminari, so when Bakugou nudged him with his elbow, he regained a couple of his senses. He swallowed the lump in his throat as Bakugou looked at with concern, thumb rubbing circles on his hand.

“Hey, so, you say you don’t remember any of us, so why are you so comfortable with Kirishima?” Uraraka’s voice said, drawing both their attention to her.

Bakugou hummed in thought, thinking. He looked at Eijirou again, eyes squinting. “I don’t really remember him, but I still know him. It’s more a feeling than a memory. I feel good when I’m with him.” He turned to the rest of the group, “I get a feeling with all of you too.”

Eijirou’s heart warmed. He was glad Bakugou felt good with him, whether he remembered him or not.

Kaminari butted in, arm raising in the air, “What do you feel with me?”

Bakugou narrowed his eyes into a glare, “Exasperated.”

Eijirou laughed, Ashido turning and making fun of Kaminari, while the electric blond whined. “That’s so not fair! Why does Kiri get all the lovey dovey feelings and I’m just an annoyance?!”

“I don’t get all the lovey dovey-”

“Yes you do!”

Soon the whole class started clamouring about, some asking Bakugou what he felt with them and others poking fun at Kaminari. Eijirou was still thinking. He didn’t get lovey dovey feelings, Bakugou was just comfortable around him. And for good reason. They were best friends! Bakugou had even said it once! So, no, Eijirou wouldn’t entertain the thought.

He snapped back to attention when Bakugou scoffed in disgust. “You are revolting, and I’m not questioning why I feel that way.” Bakugou said, pointing to Mineta. Eijirou covered his mouth with his free hand, trying to stifle his laughter. Bakugou was just being so Bakugou and it was so nice to see him somewhat back to normal.

“What? What’s so funny, Red?”

Eijirou waved his hand in the air dismissively, “Nothing, nothing!”

Bakugou rolled his eyes, poking Eijirou in the face, “Fucking tell me so I can do it again.”

“It’s nothing really!”

Bakugou glared, bringing both hands up to squish Eijirou’s face, “Tell me.”

“Bro, seriously-”

“Tell me.” Bakugou groaned.

Eijirou opened his mouth to respond, when the silence of the room dawned on him. He glanced at his friends, all of them staring. He sighed internally. That was going to happen a lot, wasn’t it? Kaminari hopped up on his knees, pointing at them.

“See? He is so getting all the nice feelings!”

Bakugou snapped at him, “Stop whining! He gets the nice feelings, because he’s my favourite!” He turned to look at Eijirou, “And I bet I’m his favourite too.” He said, a confident smirk pulling at his lips.

Eijirou sputtered, “Well, yeah, but-”

“Fucking hell, why the fuck are we not dating? I swear you’re still lying about that.”

“Bakugou! You can’t just say that-”

He was interrupted by someone wolf whistling because of course, when finally, thank god, Ilda snapped to attention, having been speaking with Midoriya separately.

“Alright! That’s enough nonsense! Everyone to bed, it’s almost curfew!” His hand moving up and down, everyone groaning in response.

But Eijirou used this to advantage, quickly grabbing Bakugou’s hand and pulling him away from everybody. Bakugou was giggling behind him, giving his hand a squeeze and ugh his life was so unfair.

Finally the elevator dinged and they hopped on, pressing the button to their floor. He let go of Bakugou’s hand to drag it down his face, huffing. Bakugou laughed again and Eijirou raised an eyebrow at him.

“What’s so funny?”

“Oh, it’s nothing.”

“Ah, using my own card I see.”

Bakugou snickered, “Yup.”

They stood in comfortable silence, both of them smiling softly. Eijirou, even though he missed Not-Amnesia-Bakugou, it was admittedly kind of nice for the blond to be so openly affectionate.

Eijirou shook that thought away. It would only get his hopes up. Bakugou would probably never want to talk to him again after he gets his memories back. In these next couple of weeks he has to make sure Bakugou doesn’t… flirt with him anymore. That’s what it was, wasn’t it? Bakugou really thought…

The elevator dinged as it reached their floor, Bakugou immediately grabbing Eijirou’s hand and tugging him out. Eijirou is always going to be in a state of embarrassment now, huh? Bakugou surprisingly stopped right in front of Eijirou’s room, which meant he was familiar with this place. Maybe his memories were coming back faster than everyone thought.

Which is great.

Super great.

Eijirou scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. “Well, uh, good night then, Bakugou!” He turned to open his door, walking in and flicking on the lights when he noticed Bakugou followed him in. He tilted his head at him in question.

“Uh, bro? This is my room.”

Bakugou nodded, “I can tell, it’s red as hell in here,” He yawned out, moving to lay on Eijirou’s bed.

Eijirou, however, was rooted to the spot. What… What was he doing?

“Why are you just standing there, idiot. C’mon, I’m tired.”

Eijirou blinked slowly.

Bakugou pulled himself under the covers, “Could you get the lights?”

He nodded his head dumbly, mindlessly walking over to flick the lights off. Now the moon was the only thing illuminating his room. He could slightly see the glow of Bakugou's hair resting on his pillows. Eijirou snuck his way over to the bed, slowly sitting down on the edge, staring intently at the wall so as to not look at Bakugou. They had slept in the same bed before, but Bakugou never did it like.. This. Normally he would just come in late at night, saying nothing. He never would have just walked right in as they were going to bed.

A foot nudged him through the sheets. Eijirou’s eyes drifted over to Bakugou, the blond still trying to sleep.

“I’m cold, just get over here Red.”

Eijirou stuttered. “B-Bakugou what- we usually, I-I mean, I sleep by myself most of the time…”

“Most of the time,” Bakugou grumbled. “But not this time. This is a thing. I know it is. It feels right sleeping in here.”

Eijirou flushed, finally giving in, slowly crawling to the head of the bed and slipping under the covers. He laid on his back, arms limp by his sides. He heard Bakugou sigh, feeling him shift and suddenly Bakugou’s face was buried in his neck.

“Just relax, Red. I ain’t gonna bite.” A kiss was placed on his collarbone. “G’night.”

“Good night.” He whispered back.

Eijirou laid there awake for another couple hours, mind replaying how Bakugou’s lips felt on his skin.

Eijirou woke up, feeling warm and hungry. He tried curling in on himself, trying to stay in the hazy warmth of sleep a little longer, when he heard a slight grunt. Eyes cracking open, he was met with Bakugou’s poofy hair in his face. Right. Bakugou slept with him last night. Eijirou closed his eyes, snuggling in closer, digging his face into Bakugou’s neck. He smelt nice. He absentmindedly pressed his lips to Bakugou’s skin, just like the other had to him last night.

He heard a giggle, brow furrowing as Bakugou’s body shook, obviously trying to contain his laughter.

“Stop moving s’much,” Eijirou mumbled.

“Sorry, sorry.”

He was clearly not sorry. Bakugou was still laughing. Eijirou threw his leg over Bakugou’s waist, trying to still him. All he wanted was some extra minutes of sleep!

“Less laughing, more sleeping.”

“Sorry babe.”

Eijirou’s eyes snapped open, cheeks flushing pink. Again? Why is he so convinced that they’re boyfriends?

“Baku, we’re not dating. We’re just friends.”

Bakugou sat up, turning to face Eijirou. “Then why’d ya kiss me?”

Eijirou shot up and out of bed, legs tangled in the sheets resulting in him falling on the floor. The pink flush from before turned a violent red.

“I never-! What are you-! That must have been a dream!” Eijirou yelled out.

He didn’t kiss him. No no no no, there’s no way.

“Why do you think I was laughing, dumbass? Ever since I woke up you’ve been so adamant about us not being together and then you go and kiss me. Fucking hypocrite.”

The blood drained from Eijirou’s face, remembering exactly what he did in his sleepy haze.

Shoot.

“Time for breakfast!” He blurted out, quickly throwing on a hoodie over his pajama shirt. Eijirou whipped the door openly, smiling awkwardly at the blond still in his bed. He could see Bakugou’s face drop, smirk from before gone.

“Right.”

As they made their breakfast, Bakugou got back into his normal cocky mood. They sat down together, Bakugou snatching Eijirou’s food away, clearly going to try to spoon feed him again. Eijirou could already feel the blush about to come when Aizawa walked in, bee-lining it for the two boys.

“Bakugou, Recovery Girl says she might be able to speed up the process of getting your memories back. Come with me please.”

“But I’m eating.”

“Eat later. I want you back in working condition before your classwork starts again.”

“Fucking fine…”

Aizawa turned, already waking out. Bakugou quickly moved, kissing Eijirou on the cheek, stuffing his face with one more bite, and jogging to catch up with their teacher.

There was that blush Eijirou was feeling. Almost avoided it but no. He shoveled his own food into his mouth, squeezing his eyes shut, trying to forget about it. Why couldn’t Bakugou take the hint? He knew it wasn’t fair to blame Bakugou, but at this point it hurt more than made him giddy. With his memories back Bakugou would go back to normal. Except for being Eijirou’s best friend. All these years suppressing his feelings just to have Bakugou ruin their friendship instead.

Obviously he doesn’t know what he’s doing, he can’t remember anything, but gosh, he wished Bakugou would back off when he asked him too. Eijirou knew it was wrong, but he hoped whatever he was doing wouldn’t fix his memories, so he would have time to fix their relationship. So they could still be friends once he did get his memories back. Hurting in silence was better than hurting alone.

A hand slapping his back knocked him out of his thoughts. He jolted forward, nearly choking on the food in his mouth. Coughing, he hit his chest repeatedly, eyes watering.

“What the hell?” He stuttered out.

“Shit! Sorry bro, didn’t realize you were mid bite. You okay?”

Eijirou waved him off, “I’m fine. What’s up, Kami?”

The rest of the Bakusquad were there, grins on their faces. They all took a seat around him, Ashido leaning forward.

“So… You and Blasty kissing now?”

Eijirou coughed on his spit this time. Today was really not his day.

“W-What? No, he just-”

“He literally just kissed you bro,” Sero interrupted. “You two dating for real?”

Eijirou looked down at his food, pushing it around. “No,” He said sharply. “We’re not.”

They all looked at him, confused.

“But,” Kami started. “Blasty is literally convinced you guys are dating, and you clearly like him..?”

Eijirou sighed. “He doesn’t like me. He’s just… mixing up his feelings. He doesn’t know any better. When he gets his memories back, he’s just gonna be embarrassed about how he acted towards me and never talk to me again.”

Their faces of confusion morphed into pity. He hated that look.

“Ei, babe, he’s not never gonna talk to you again. You’re literally his favourite. You were the only one he remembered besides Mido. You are the one he’s been clinging to, all weekend. You are the one he kissed. Bakugou is many things, but he wouldn’t do all that if he didn’t remember his feelings for you. Why do you think he’s so ‘Oh, I’m only happy when I’m with Red,’ with that sappy look in his eyes?” Ashido ranted. “He likes you.”

Eijirou shook his head stubbornly, eyes burning. “Look, you’re right. He was clinging to me a lot, and acting as if he likes me, but I know Bakugou the best. I’m pretty much with him all the time, and before he got amnesia, there were zero signs he liked me. It was obvious that he could barely tolerate me as a friend sometimes. And you don’t get to tell me otherwise, because I know him best. He doesn’t think of people like that. Not me, or anyone else. So please… just drop it.”

Silence fell over the group. Awkward glances were made to another. Eijirou couldn’t take it, so he stood, grabbing his and Bakugou’s dishes and going to wash them in the sink. Afterwards, he made his way back to his room. He just wanted to be alone for a while. He definitely didn’t feel like dealing with Bakugou any time soon.

He decided to work out in his room for a while, hoping it would distract him. He pulled off his hoodie, changing his sweatpants into some shorts. Jamming his headphones into his ears, he blasted his music, getting to work.

Hours later, Eijirou still going, there was a knock on his door. He couldn’t hear it, music still roaring in his ears. The knocks grew more insistent, before finally giving up and barging in anyway. Eijirou looked up from the floor, in the middle of stretching, to see Bakugou standing in his doorway.

He sighed internally, forcing a smile on his face. He paused his music, pulling his headphones out as well.

“Hey Bakugou! Get your memories back?”

Bakugou shook his head curtly, moving to sit down next to Eijirou on the floor. Eijirou saw Bakugou’s hand moving to grab his own, and quickly snapped his hand away. Seeing the incredulous look on Bakugou’s face, he cleared his throat, avoiding eye contact.

“I need to talk to you… about these past few days.”

He heard Bakugou grunt for him to keep going, so he pushed on. “Until you get your memories back Baku, you gotta- you just gotta stop. You can’t keep acting the way you are, towards me that is. We’re not together. I don’t know how many times I have to tell you before you understand, but we’re just not. So stop acting like we are, it’s not cool.”

Bakugou didn’t say anything back, Eijirou’s eyes having squeezed shut through his little spiel. He waited for an answer. The minutes ticked by before he cracked an eye open, still no response. He turned to look at Bakugou, seeing him staring at the floor in front of them.

“Look, I’m sorry if that was rude but-”

Suddenly his head was pulled forward, Bakugou’s hand on the back of his neck. Their lips smashed together, far too much teeth for it to be enjoyable. Also for the fact that whY THE HECK WAS BAKUGOU KISSING HIM!?

Eijirou pushed away quickly, face on fire for the umpteenth time in the past two days.

“What are you doing?!”

“Do you like me?” Bakugou asked abruptly.

“I don’t understand-”

“Do you like me?” He repeated.

“Bakugou, you can’t just-”

Bakugou grabbed his face, pulled them so close Eijirou was half worried, half excited they would kiss again. Bakugou’s face was stern as he asked again;

“Eijirou,” He started softly. “Do you like me?”

Eijirou glanced from side to side, avoiding the intense red eyes staring at him. Eventually he shut his eyes, sighing. He mumbled out a ‘yes’.

He could feel his hands shaking, trying to still them. Why would Bakugou do this to him? What on earth was even happening? This had to be a dream. Maybe he died from exhaustion from working out for too long.

This time, much more softly, lips pressed against his. Eijirou tried to pull away again but Bakugou chased after him, pushing their lips together again. Bakugou held his face tighter, fingers gripping red hair. Finally, Eijirou kissed back. He got lost in the way their lips moved against each others. Bakugou somehow ended up in his lap, Eijirou’s arms wrapping around a slim waist.

Eijirou was right. He died and this was heaven.

Unfortunately, they had to pull away to catch their breath, Bakugou pecking at Eijirou’s lips one last time. Eijirou had to stop himself from chasing his lips for another kiss. Slowly, he opened his eyes, Bakugou already staring back at him.

“I like you too,” Bakugou whispered into the quiet. The soft smile on his face turning into a shit-eating grin. Eijirou paled a little. “Also, guess who got their fucking memories back, shithead?”

Eijirou blanched, Bakugou bursting out into a fit of giggles. Even though Bakugou lied to him, Eijirou couldn’t find it in himself to be angry. He pulled Bakugou closer;

“You’re such a turd Bakugou!”

This was really happening

“That’s Katsuki to you, Ei.”

This couldn't be real

Eijirou smiled, “Sorry Katsuki.”

But as Katsuki pulled his boyfriend back into another long kiss, it couldn’t be anything but real.
