Work Text:

Bakugou is lying down on his bed lost in his thoughts. Tomorrow was Valentine's day and he nearly forgot. Now he is thinking what to give and do for his crush, Midoriya. If he were to be honest, he has this stupid crush ever since Midoriya shared his secret to OFA with him. Ever since that day, Bakugou realized the type of person Midoriya really was. Midoriya never intended to look down on him nor embarrass him but showed him kindness. He recalled back in his childhood, how they would leave at night to go run into the forest to get on top of the hill near where they live and watch the stars. The both of them would lay down on the soft grass and look up at the calm night sky and watch the stars twinkling and dancing throughout the sky. He remembers seeing the same gleam on Midoriya's eyes. How his eyes twinkle like the stars. He looked so carefree, calm, and deep down, happy.

"Something wrong, Kacchan?" Midoriya's younger voice rings through his mind.

There, he saw Midoriya looking at him with his worried eyes. God, was he staring?

"Nothing's wrong, Izu. Just look at the sky, you'll miss the shooting stars," Bakugou reassured him.

"Hehe, alright, Kacchan," Midoriya giggled.

Bakugou stared at him. Midoriya gave him a genuine smile. A smile that seemed so rare nowadays. A smile to be protected. Bakugou cringed at that memory. When was the last time Midoriya smiled like that? More so, when was the time he smiled like that for him? Bakugou wished he never acted the way he did to Midoriya. He never realized how important he is. And, he's gotta make it up to him somehow. "You'll never know what you have until you lose it" a phrase he learned a long time ago. He was scared that he'll lose Midoriya. That he'll never be able to see him again. Then, a memory runs through Bakugou's mind again.

"Look Kacchan! There's a shooting star! There's two!" the voice of younger Midoriya says.

Looking up, there are two shooting stars flying together across the sky.

"Woah! That's so cool!" Bakugou shouted, looking up at the sky. "

it's kinda like us, Kacchan..." Midoriya said as he turned to look at Bakugou.

Bakugou was confused by this statement. He looked at Midoriya in the eyes. What is he talking about? What does he mean by that?

"What are you talking about, Izu? How is it like us? That's stupid," Bakugou retorted.

However, the response he wasn't expecting was a chuckle.

"Silly Kacchan. You see.. the shooting stars.. they were together and they were flying together. And once they fall down on the ground, they land together. I see it like us, we are always together and do things together. You said we'll be heroes, the wonder duo, together. We would face everything together as long as we have each other. If you fall, I fall, and all over again. That's why... those shooting stars are like us in a way. We have each other's back..." Midoriya finished.

Bakugou was in awe of what Midoriya said. He was impressed, then he smiled. What would he do without Midoriya?

"You're right, Izu... They're just like us... we'll be heroes together" Bakugou said as he laid back down.

That memory really lasted well, didn't it? Bakugou ripped it out of his mind and sat on his bed. Tears came flowing out of his eyes. Why was he crying? Why is he acting like this? It's just a stupid memory! A memory from when they were kids. A memory filled with a promise he should've kept a long time ago. He regretted everything he did. He hated his stupid inferior complex, and how it affected his relationship with Midoriya. God, if his ego wasn't so big.... He really needs to make it up to him and he now knows what to do...

"I'm sure he'll like it, Bakugou!" Kirishima reassured him as he placed his hand on Bakugou's shoulder.

School just ended and how they're sitting down on the couch in the common room.

"Yeah right..." Bakugou disagreed.

"He admires you.. it's possible he feels the same why... even after what you did, he forgave you already. No need to worry about it, man," Kirishima said.

"I guess you're right," Bakugou rolled his eyes in return.

"Now go get your man!"

It's been seven hours since that conversation with Kirishima. He was sitting on top of the dorm rooftops, which he asked permission from Aizawa to go up there and got approved, and waited for Midoriya to come up. Would things stay the same? They do get along a lot more than the start of the year, but he really wishes it could go back to how they were before he got his quirk and Midoriya diagnosed as quirkless. The sound of a door opening startled him and he turned to see Midoriya walking out.

"Hey, Kacchan!" Midoriya greeted him as soon as he saw him.

"Took you long enough, Deku," Bakugou said.

"Why did you want to meet up here?" Midoriya curiously asked.

"Sit here, Izuku," Bakugou patted the ground next to him.

Midoriya didn't respond back and did what he was told to do. The both sat in silence until Bakugou broke the silence.

"Remember back when we were little, we would go on the hill at night to watch the stars?" Bakugou asked.

"I do. I'm surprised that you still remember that haha," Midoriya chuckled.

"Why don't we lie down, so we can see the stars clearly?" Bakugou suggested.

"Sure.."

The two lie down in silence as they look up at the twinkling lights above them. It was really nice staying here, so quiet and calming. Bakugou felt happy being with Midoriya. The feeling so nostalgic, he really misses it. He hopes it'll be like this forever.

"Look there's two shooting stars!" Midoriya shouted, pointing at the shooting stars with a bright smile on his face. Bakugou looked up and smiled.

"They're... just like us..." Bakugou said softly.

"You remembered...," Midoriya said in realization.

"Of course I do, Izu"

"I'm glad..."

And just like that, Bakugou pulled Midoriya closer to him and the two continued to stargaze throughout the night.

"I love you, Kacchan..."

"I love you too, Izuku..."
