    The earth shook for the first time merely a few hours after Mal and Alina left the Shadow Fold. The first news about a wall of darkness destroying everything it came into touch with followed two days later.
    First in Ravka then in Fjerda. Shortly afterwards in Shu Han and even far west in Novyi Zem. Tears in the making at the heart of the world that appeared and disappeared, robbing everything they touched of light and life.

    Canon divergence post season 1. The fold has got out of control. It keeps expanding and walls of shadows appear and disappear in all kinds of places, destroying everything they touch. As the end of the world seems near, Alina and Aleksander find their way back to each other.
