Work Text:
Shikanoin Heizou, the most successful detective of The Tenryou Commission seems off these days. He looks tired and his skin is paler than normal. Of course, working on cases with almost no break is tiring, but Heizou would never get effected by this kind of things. Even Kujou Sara tried convincing him but no avail. He kept insisting that he was a little tired, nothing more.
‘ Shikanoin, It’s getting late. Head back to your home and get some rest. You look tired and you are zoning out. This isn’t like you. ’
Don’t worry, madam Kujou, I am perfectly fine. He wanted to say but by the way Sara looked at him, he knew lying wasn’t the option. So, he just got up and headed back to his home.
The moon was shining brightly that night. The starts decorated the dark sky.
When Heizou arrived back home, he directly headed to his bedroom. He didn’t felt like doing something. He couldn’t. He was exhausted from all the work and not sleeping wasn’t helping at all. He got in his bed and laid his head down to his pillow. Turning his face to the window, watching the stars. He was tired, yet, he couldn’t sleep. No matter how comfortable he was at the moment, he just couldn’t. He haven’t slept for 2 weeks or so by now.
Insomnia, a common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep, or cause you to wake up too early and not be able to get back to sleep. It can be cured with some medicines.
Heizou had Insomnia.

The next day, Sara insisted him to stay at home and get rest. She didn’t knew about his sickness. He couldn’t argue with her, he didn’t had the energy to. So, he just stayed at home and laid in his bed, staring at his ceiling. He got up to wash his face and have Lunch. When he got to his bathroom, he stared at himself in the mirror for a while. He looked absolutely terrible. His skin was pale and there were bags under his eyes. His hair was messy. He washed his face with cold water, maybe cold water would help him with the bags.
He headed to his kitchen, looking for something to eat. There were enough ingredients to make something for Lunch, but he didn’t had the energy to make something fancy. He just took of some basic ingredients to make a quick sandwich.
After a quick breakfast, he was just about to go back to his room but suddenly he heard a knock on his door.
Who could it be?

Before That, In the morning…
.
‘ What do you mean by that? ’
‘I think I am being obvious, Kaedehara..’
It was a beautiful day, Kazuha was taking a stroll at the beach. For a moment, the wind whispered something to his ear. He stopped, turning around. He saw a Tenryou Commission member running towards him. He brought his hand to his swords hilt in case of an attack. But just before he could say anything, the Commission member spoke;
’ Madam Kujou wants to say something to you in person, Kaedehara. ’
That was.. Unexpected. Why did the Tenryou Commission’s General wanted to talk to him? He was sure he didn’t do anything wrong, and The Vision Hunt Decree ended long ago. He decided to just go and talk to her.
.
.
.
Ok, he wasn’t expecting this..
’ Something is wrong with Shikanoin. He isn’t like his usual self. He looks exhausted and there wasn’t a case that could put him in such a state. And he seems paler than usual. I also noticed some bags growing under his eyes. He zones out a lot as well . ‘
What?
‘ I really don’t know what your relationship is but you two seem close, so, I thought maybe you should talk to him. ‘
Kazuha went silent. He had so many questions but-
‘ Where is he at the moment? ’
Sara turned her back at him, heading back to her desk to continue her work.
‘ I told him to stay at home and rest. ’
Kazuha didn’t need to hear any other word and just left the Tenryou Commission Headquarters, making his way to the Detective’s house.
Why didn’t he told me anything? Is he sick? Kujou Sara told me that his skin got paler and he had bags under his eyes.. It’s obvious that he didn’t sleep, or maybe, he couldn’t. What if It’s something serious? Why is he hiding this from us? From me?
He could see the detective’s house now. He stood before the door and then knocked it for a few times, stepping back a little.
Heizou hesitated for a second but eventually opened the door. Behind it, stood Kazuha. The moment Heizou opened the door, Kazuha’s eyes widened. Heizou was in a terrible shape. Without a second thought, he closed the door as he stepped inside, warping his arms around Heizou, holding him in a warm embrace. Heizou hugged him back, burying his face into Kazuha’s neck. They stood there for a while. Heizou relaxed in Kazuha’s arms as Kazuha brushed his hair.
‘ Zou.. ‘ whispered Kazuha.
He took Heizou to his bedroom. The detective was just like Kujou Sara told him. He looked terrible. Kazuha could guess the reason but he didn’t wanted to jump into conclusions just yet.
He put Heizou on the bed, covering him in some blankets. Then, he leaned closer and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
’ Zu, don’t leave ‘
Kazuha sighed, laying down next to Heizou. He opened his arms one again, Heizou snuggled closer to feel Kazuha’s warmth once again. He felt sleepy but he couldn’t sleep. Kazuha seems to notice that something is off.
‘ Zou, whats the problem? ‘ he asked in a low voice, still caressing his hair.
‘…’
Heizou was silent. Kazuha could feel his boyfriend’s stress.
‘ You can’t sleep.. Can you? ’ he asked once more.
The silence was enough for him to confirm his conclusions were right.
‘ I feel tired Zu.. I- I can’t sleep no matter how hard I try to. The work is exhausting enough.. ‘
‘ You know Insomnia has a cure, right? ‘
Heizou nodded, not having much energy to talk. Kazuha knew about Insomnia. He knew that It could be cured by using medicine’s but It could also get cured with time.
Maybe, just maybe if i try..
Kazuha cupped Heizou’s chin, leaning closer, giving a soft kiss on the lips. Heizou was speechless. Kazuha then pulled back, hugging his boyfriend once again. Heizou was blushing in his arms.
They cuddled for a while.

It was dark once again. Kazuha slowly opened his eyes, he must’ve fell asleep. He looked down to Heizou. He gave a soft smile to his now sleeping boyfriend. Maybe love was indeed the cure of many things…
