"Fuck sakes."
This was the fifth time he'd drawn the moon this week. He didn't understand why.
"This isn't complicated," he murmured, glaring at the card. "I just want to know if she'll fucking say yes to drinks."
"Draco are you talking to yourself again?"
"No, I'm talking to the cards."
Pansy frowned over his shoulder. "I thought the moon was a good card?"
"There are no good or bad cards," Draco responded automatically. Then he let out a disgruntled huff. "Although this card is telling me that the whole situation with Granger is just an illusion and that it's complicated."
Pansy picked up the parchment with possible interpretations. "Draco, it also says that it's about uncertainty."
He nodded distractedly,, still glaring at the card.
"Surely... this indecision your feeling about whether she'll say yes counts as uncertainty doesn't it? It doesn't mean that she feels uncertain?"
"That's true... Ok. Today. I'll ask her today. I'll do it. Just a drink, that can't be too hard to do."

"How did it go?" Pansy asked when Draco came back from work to their house.
"It didn't."
"I thought you were going to ask her out?"
"I was, but then this morning I drew the star card."
"Right... So and the star card means what now?"
"Well it usually means hope! Positivity! Inspiration!"
Pansy frowned at him.
"Draco, darling, surely they're all good things. Why didn't you do it?"
Draco's head dropped to the wood of their kitchen table with a groan. "Because it was reversed. Which means, hopelessness and despair!"
"The only hopeless thing about all of this is the fact you're letting some cards dictate your life!"
Draco didn't respond, but simply went back to groaning into the wood grain.

"SHE ASKED ME OUT!" Draco burst into the sitting room of Pansy's townhouse. "She fucking asked me out! I knew the Sun I drew this morning was going to be a good day."
"What's he on about?" asked Theo.
"Granger."
"Oh, really? Those two finally stopped dancing around each other?"
"It seems that way, yes."
"I can't believe she asked him. I thought she was just going to pine in the office over him for the rest of her life."
Pansy glanced away, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Pansy..." Theo leaned in to catch her eye. "What did you do?"
"Oh nothing really. I may have just gently nudged her in the right direction."

"I'm off to dinner!" Draco yelled as he grabbed his coat.
"Tell Granger I said hello," Pansy replied.
"She's staying at mine tonight, so you can tell her yourself."
Pansy smirked down at her magazine.
"Perfect."
