Chapter Text
Lux smiled and waved goodbye to her boyfriend, Ezreal, as she stepped inside her house. She was really in the best mood since that was their first date as boyfriend and girlfriend, and it went really well. She wasn't head of heels with him, but he was sweet and everyone she knew shipped them.
So why not, right? She had to fit in.
She slipped off her shoes, kicking them off to the side of the door. She dropped her bag, wiggled out of her jacket, and made her way straight to her living room couch, dropping down onto it without a care. She sighed in relief and turned on the TV.
She didn't really pay attention to it, she was much more interested in looking at the amazing views she had over the Sweden forestry and sky.
Her parents had bought her the house, that was more like a cabin, the year she started college as a gift. Plus, they wanted her out of the house.
It was pretty isolated, there was only a few other houses with a mile radius. But it was really nice, no loud music or annoying neighbours.
Just her, the stars, and-
Lux squinted and ducked at a sudden flash to bright to look at out the window, bracing herself just as something made the entire house quake. She covered her ears at the terrible sound of whatever was happening outside, holding her breath as if it would help. She curled up as the house continued to quake, shattered glass flying past her.
Then, all the sudden, everything stopped.
The house was still, and the sound was gone.
Gasping for breath, Lux removed her hands from her ears, and sat still.
What the hell just happened?
She felt like she was going to throw up from the fear, plus the shaking.
Lux stayed in her curled up position for a moment, catching her breaths before taking a small peek over the couch.
The glass windows were blown out, her lawn was on fire, and in the middle of her yard was a large hunk of flaming metal, that looked like it use to be some sort of fighter jet?
Lux ducked back down behind the couch.
What if it was Russians?
What if it was going to blow up?
Whatever it was, she just wanted it gone. She didn't want to get killed, or be held hostage by some foreign enemy.
But if there was someone in there, they'd die if she didn't do something.
She peeked over the couch again at the flaming mass.
Whoever was in there had to be knocked out right?
She could at least try, she didn't want anyone to die. Especially not in her yard.
Watching her step, Lux stood up, tip toeing to the door and sliding on shoes to avoid injuring herself. She took a fire poker from the fire place, for defence and to try to get it open.
She took heavier breaths with each step closer to the ship. That was a terrible idea, since she was inhaling smoke.
She covered her nose and mouth with her t-shirt and continued to shuffle closer to the ship, dodging the patches of burning grass and massive chunks of earth the shuttle had thrown up.
Standing as far away as she could, she reached out with the fire poker and attempted to peel back a loose sheet of metal.
It didn't budge.
She tugged harder, and stumbled forward as it gave. She inhaled sharply as a flame blew over her foot. She stepped back, panting at the pain and lack of air.
Glancing into the hole she'd made, she saw someone. A small someone, with very long, very blue hair. A girl if she had to guess by looks. That was less threatening.
Whatever she was, it wasn't conscious. Hopefully not dead.
Lux coughed into her shirt.
She needed clean air.
Retreating from the wreckage, she gasped for air, wheezing from all the smoke. She tossed the fire poker aside and took a minute to regain her breath.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead, that was stained with soot.
Once she had her breath, she carefully navigated back to the opening. The girl still lay there, not moving.
Lux stuck her head in, looking both ways to make sure entry was safe. She pulled her head back and stuck her leg in, crouching as she entered the small space. It was like an oven, and could only be getting hotter, but nothing was on fire yet.
She approached the girl, who was still strapped into the complicated piloting seat. It really was too big to be a normal jet. Or maybe foreign military had become more advanced.
Carefully, she undid the restraints, and doing so noticed the faint breathing of the girl.
Good. She was alive.
Lux wiggled an arm beneath the girls legs and one on her back, counting to three before lifting her. It really was a good thing the girl was short, Lux wasn't the strongest.
She set the girl down outside the ship as she crawled out before lifting her again. She struggled carrying her bridal style all the way back into the house, then dropped her onto the couch to take a break.
Lux, for the millionth time that night, caught her breath. She coughed a few times before collecting herself again. The girl was covered in soot, and was wearing a weird black suit, that was some material Lux didn't know of.
She crouched down next to the couch, examining the girls outfit a face. She didn't look Russian, and didn't have any flags on her weird suit. And literally all of her hair was a vibrant blue. Her roots, eyebrows, eyelashes. All blue. And it was all done up on two long braids, with a lot sticking out over her face.
Maybe some third world country militarised emo.
Her skin was also freakishly pale, so much so it was nearing translucent. She had a lot of cuts, and a split lip. She was short, at most five four. She looked like she could be in her early twenties or younger.
Wherever she was from, it was terrible they put a girl so young and frail on a jet fighter.
Lux sighed and stood up, examining the room.
Most of the windows in the living room and kitchen were blown out, the fire in the yard had mostly gone out, and there was dirt, glass, and rock everywhere.
"Fuck." She whispered realising how just how mcuh trouble it would all be. New glass would cost a lot, and getting that ship out of her yard would cost even more. Plus, she'd need a landscaper to fix her yard.
She'd report it to the police in the morning. Hopefully there was something that could be done so she wasn't the one paying.
She looked down at the girl again. She was a complete mess. Cleaning her up would be the good thing to do. At least her face.
Lux moved the girl into the guest room, it was much more comfortable and didn't have debris everywhere. She got a bowl of warm water, some Disney princes band aids, Neosporin, and a few rags. She wasn't exactly equipped for people falling from the sky in high tech jets.
She carefully unzipped the suit thing the girl was wearing, it was ripped up and she had to be sure she wasn't injured beneath.
Her undershirt, unlike the suit, did have a little symbol on it. Not one Lux recognised. It looked like a little vile, or a screw? With wings.
It was kind of cool.
She pulled the girls boots off, and the suit along with it, not seeing any blood stains. That was good. Her underclothes seemed decently clean, at least not covered in soot and ash. Still a really weird material.
"Okay." Lux breathed, ringing out the warm rag. She gently ran it over her cheek, wiping the ash away revealing a lot of freckles.
Maybe she was Irish? Did the Irish even have a military?
She'd Google it later.
Or never.
She continued washing away the grime, as softly as she could, not wanting to irritate any of the scratches. She did have a nice face.
The girls eye twitched.
Lux quickly brought her hand back, tensing up like she was waiting to get hit.
But the girl didn't move anymore. Lux sighed in relief. She still wasn't sure what she'd do when she woke up.
Maybe she should grab her pepper spray once she was done. Just in case.
She soaked the rag again, ringed it out, then brought it up back up to her face before her hand was stopped.
Lux shrieked at the hand gripping her wrist with a painful amount of strength before stumbling back. The hand let go, allowing her to fall down to the floor.
"Fuck!" She swore holding the back of her head after it hit the floor. She felt her adrenaline begin to rush again as she realised this meant there was some surprisingly strong military girl awake on the bed in front of her .
She glanced up to see a pair of vibrant magenta eyes staring down at her.
"Jesus you are creepy!" Lux breathed, chest heaving.
The girl stared at her for a second, not blinking before sitting all the way up, wincing a little.
Then she spoke.
There was a lot of x's in whatever she was saying. But Lux had no clue what it is she said.
She seemed confused, looking around the room and feeling her face.
Then she groaned, and spoke angrily as she tried to get up, failing. She hissed in pain, holding the top of her arm.
Lux slowly stood up, not wanting to make any sudden movements. She awkwardly pointed at the girls arm, trying to signal something. Kind of like asking if it was okay? Maybe?
"Y-you're arm? Is it hurt?" She asked, her voice shaking. It was a dumb question, but she wanted to come off as friendly.
The girl ignored her, instead grabbing the hem of her her weird shirt thing and peeling it up.
"Okay- uhm" Lux said looking down. She wasn't sure what manners were like wherever the girl came from, but Lux wasn't going to watch even if it was normal.
Lux looked up when the girl spoke. She'd taken off her shirt, but had some weird tactical compression bra on.
She also had some really cool tattoos. Blue clouds going from her waist all the way her toned abdomen, and down her arm.
The arm she was pointing to, and looked a little..off.
"I don't know what you're saying!" Lux said over whatever the girl was trying to say.
She was met with a sigh, then hand motions.
The girl pointed the her right arm, the hurt one, grabbed it, and then then slid her hand over her shoulder.
Like pushing in?
"Oh! It's dislocated?!" She asked like it was Pictionary.
Lux had absolutely zero medical skill. She had even less skill in relocating an arm.
"I-I don't how. I'll look it up really quick.." Lux said slowly taking her phone from her pocket, in case the girl thought it was a gun or something.
She'd seen crime shows.
The girl kept talking and talking as Lux scrolled through search results, clicking on the one that seemed the easiest to understand, and had the most pictures.
"Okay Uhm..I'm gonna grab your wrist." Lux said stepping closer, carefully reaching forward and taking her wrist like the picture showed.
The girl watch closely, tensing as if ready to attack. Hopefully only if necessary.
"Okay, don't hit me. This is gonna hurt. I think."
She pulled her arm to a ninety degree angle, pulling a little. The girl hissed and flailed her other hand around in a 'hurry up' way. Maybe.
Lux pulled her arm up higher and pulled as hard as she could. There was a really gross sound that the girls arm made. She could hear it over the pained shout the girl made.
She dropped her arm, covering her mouth with her hands
"Oh my god, did I make it worse?!"
The girl grimaced, rubbing her arm before moving it around.
Okay, not worse. She actually did it. That was terrifying.
"Hey, I'll get you some water alright? Uh..ah gua?"
The girl didn't respond, and continued to assess herself.
Okay. That was fine.
Lux quickly made her way into the bathroom, grabbing a clean cup from under the sink and filling it with tap water. Hopefully the girl didn't mind the taste.
When she got back out, the girl was up, going through the drawers that were filled mostly with spare clothes and random things Lux didn't want in her room. She was acting like it was a weird. Maybe she was looking for something.
"Here." Lux said holding the water out to the girl, who was just about as short as she thought. It was a wonder how she was so strong.
She took the cup, looking at the water. Just looking at it, swirling it around a little.
"There's nothing in it. It's just water." Lux explained, wondering if anything she was saying was being understood.
The girl dropped the cup onto the floor, causing it to shatter and for the water to go everywhere.
Lux opened her mouth but didn't know what to say. What the fuck would be a good start, but it wouldn't do anything.
"You're supposed to drink it. Isn't you throat dry from crashing? Does that dry out your throat?"
She just stared up at her with her creepy magenta eyes. She was pretty sure they were glowing a little. That couldn't be natural.
"You know what? Stay."
Lux quickly walked back into bathroom, grabbing another cup and filling it with water. She brought it back out to the girl who still stood there not blinking. Maybe she was like Captain America? Had some weird stuff injected? She never really payed attention to those movies.
"Look," Lux said taking a sip of the water
"It's not poisoned or anything."
"O!" The girl smiled. Lux didn't know if that was a word, but she was pretty sure that was an 'oh' as in 'oh right'. Maybe they did share some words, or at least sound meanings.
She said more, not any of it that sounded familiar in the slightest.
Lux handed her the glass, that she drank down quickly. She handed it back, pointing to the bathroom. Lux guessed it meant more.
She retrieved another glass full, which the girl was quick to chug down. She set the glass on the counter, then pointed to herself.
"Jinx."
Lux raised her eyebrows
"Jinx?"
The girl nodded.
"That's like..you're name? Or are you saying you're bad luck?"
"Jinx." She said tapping herself.
Lux pointed at herself
"Lux. That's my name."
"Lux thasmaname?" The girl repeated
"Lux." She clarified, smiling a little. It was a little fun.
Jinx smiled back.
