Work Text:
Eijiro wasn’t sure about a lot of things in his life. But, if there was one thing he knew for certain was too good to be true? His best friend Bakugo Katsuki having feelings back for him. He doesn’t know how it would be even remotely possible. To have someone as amazing as Bakugo like him back. Someone as breathtakingly handsome as Bakugo to lose his breath at the sight of him. What he wouldn't give. What he hasn't dreamed.
He wakes up from one of those dreams, yawning loudly, his heart fluttering from the thought of Bakugo kissing him through the night. He's about to stretch himself awake, so close to letting his arms fall on the bed when he feels a warm weight tugging at his chest.
He looks down in alarm, quickly realizing that it's none other than his best friend, clinging to him tightly.
Eijiro has no idea when he got here, considering it was a late night at his work study for Bakugo and he had fallen asleep before he got home. His poor bro probably thought he was in his own dorm. He did that most days during late nights, but he never had the heart to wake him up.
But, his movements must have shaken him awake, Bakugo letting out a small groan.
“What the hell, ‘Shima?”
“Hmm? Oh! Sorry. I didn't know you were here.”
“Who the fuck cares. Come back, asshole. You're warm.”
“Huh?”
Bakugo pulled on his waist, basically growling as he gave him another tug.
“Sorry?” He whispered, sliding back down on the pillow and laying down next to Bakugo.
His best friend came that much closer, nuzzling his nose against his cheek.
“Missed you, Red.”
Eijiro smiled, “I missed you too! How was your work study?”
Bakugo shushed him, “Later. Fuckin’ tired.”
He laughed, “Okay. Goodnight.”
“Hold me too.”
He couldn't help but smile as he turned to face Bakugo, wrapping his arms around his waist. Noses tip to tip.
Katsuki yawned in his face, “Night.”
“Good night.”
Eijiro swears he must be half asleep still as he feels Bakugo’s lips pucker against his.
And he's sure he's dreaming when Bakugo says, “Hey, Shim--Ei?”
“Yeah, man?”
“I--”
“Hmm?”
Bakugo hesitates, and he can feel his nose rubbing against his collarbone.
“I--can I stay here again tonight?”
“Yeah! Of course!”
“Cool. Night.”
“Night, man.”
As he's walking back to the dorms after an exhausting day of school, he feels his heart drop. It was a long day, not just cause of training and not just cause of all the exams they apparently had to take on a random Tuesday. But, he was kind of down with seeing all the love in the air. Usually, Eijiro would think all those confessions and chocolates were super sweet. It was super manly to get all those feelings out! Especially seeing guys like Todoroki make Midoriya go all blushy from the amount of gifts he left on his desk that morning.
All the girls had even prepared chocolates like they always did, giving everyone a small baggy. Well, everyone except him.
Mina must have forgotten, considering she was all caught up in the mystery of Denki’s secret admirer. And, he assumed he was mostly an after thought for the other girls. Which, he didn't really mind. He had his eyes on one handsome boy after all, and he didn't really want chocolate in the first place if it wasn't from him.
But, still. It was nice to be thought of, and no one had even bothered to think of him this year.
Oh well. It's just how things go, he guesses.
He wanted to wait around for Bakugo, maybe ask him if he wanted to get away from all the lovey dovey stuff and go somewhere, but he was nowhere to be found after school. Actually, he was kind of not around him all day, even after he had left his dorm with a “Morning. Don't take forever.”
He had thought that Bakugo said that so they could hurry and walk together, but he had to walk alone. And, surprisingly, Bakugo had stumbled in just in time. Not 30 minutes early like he usually was.
Since there was training and exams, there wasn't really much room to talk to Bakugo. All the teachers had taken them aside individually, and by the time lunch rolled around, Bakugo was nowhere to be found again.
His heart churned with the thought he refused to think. But it pounded in his brain anyway. What if Bakugo had a secret boyfriend? A boyfriend he was rushing off to go see and ate lunch with and was now with after school?
It would make sense. Why he was never accepting confessions this time of year. Why he's been so secretive today. He supposes it was scary. Being out in school was terrifying itself, he couldn't imagine having a boyfriend.
But still, he was sad. And jealous. And impressed. That guy who was Bakugo's boyfriend must be super manly and cool. Considering he actually had the guts to confess to Bakugo.
He finally walks into the common room with a sigh, and immediately eyes dart to him.
“Hey, guys!” He beams, trying to hide the lump in his throat. And the sting of being forgotten.
Mina beams at him, “Hey!”
Ochako giggles, earning a small shove from Jiro.
“What's up?”
“Oh! Oh ! Nothing.” Ochako says, her eyes still lit up with laughter.
“Yeah! Nothing! Why do you ask?” Mina grins, her eyebrows raising mischievously.
“You guys are acting pretty funny.” He admits.
“Cut it out.” Jiro gives Ochako a shove again, and she calms. The elevator dings then, and Jiro’s eyes sparkle as she takes in the view of Momo. And, before he can even say goodbye, she's gone in a flash.
“Sorry! Ah--love in the air and all that!”
“Oh! Did you find out who Denki’s secret admirer is?”
Mina’s forehead crumples before her eyes light up with realization, “Oh yeah! Shinso!”
Eijiro feels his heart jump, “That’s so cool! Denks has been crushing on him for a while.”
“Yeah!” Mina says.
“Must be nice to have your crush like you back, huh?”
Mina truly looks confused now, “Huh?”
“Yeah! I mean,” He brings his voice to a whisper, “Imagine if Bakugo would confess to me? I'd probably cry.”
Both Mina’s and Ochako’s eyes go wide, and…well? He did make his crush fairly obvious, right? It wasn't really a secret of how much he liked his best friend.
“You and Bakugo okay?” Mina asked, her tone soft and concerned.
“Uh…I think so! Why?”
“Oh! Ah--just. Sorry. It's a silly question.” Mina backpedaled. Maybe he was right. Maybe they were looking at him that way because they knew about Bakugo’s secret boyfriend.
“Have you seen him, by the way?”
“Mmm hmm! He was heading to his dorm!” Ochako tossed him a smile.
“Oh. Okay. Well, I'll catch you girls later. Have fun today!”
“You, too!”
He walks to the elevators, pushing the button to summon it and soon he's on his way to his floor.
And, for some odd reason, he feels his stomach drop to the floor as he steps off the elevator to go to his dorm. Maybe because Bakugo's door is open and he could hear music coming from somewhere and he's sure that he's about to get hit with Bakugo's big secret.
He turns his knob with a sigh, bracing himself for a night of being alone and--
Eijiro’s heart stops when he sees the sight before him.
His room is only illuminated by the small lamp he had on his bedside table, and there's soft music playing from his speaker.
He could see a bouquet of flowers on his bedside table, a small plush. A heart shaped container of chocolates.. The sight itself was beautiful, but nothing was compared to Bakugo. Bakugo Katsuki with his prince-like smile and his eyes like fireworks.
“Hey, Ei.” Bakugo smirks, coming from where he was sitting on his bed.
And wow, did he look… gorgeous . Just so simple. In a pair of warm ups and a black tank top. But, everything about him was radiant.
“What's all this for?”
Bakugo snorted, “Obviously for you?”
Eijiro could feel his eyes welling up, his face getting hot, and the view of Bakugo walking towards him was getting blurry.
“You mean…you don't have a secret boyfriend?” He asked, shakily.
“What the fuck? Why would I have another boyfriend? Did you think I was… huh ?”
“Another boyfriend?” He rasped out, sniffing.
“Ei? What?”
Bakugo came to him fully now, wrapping his arms around his waist.
“Ei. What do you mean…secret boyfriend? Did you think I was cheating on you?”
“What? No. Wouldn't we have to…be together for that?” His voice was so shaky, he couldn't help it.
“Eijiro. Are you serious?”
“What?”
“Eijiro,” Bakugo said again, his name falling out of his mouth so lovely and coating him with sweetness. “Baby. We've been together for a month.”
“What?” He asked again.
“Fucking hell, I really am in love with an idiot.” Katsuki’s face spilled with color, and he looked at him sheepishly.
“In--in love?”
“Yeah, dummy. That's what I was planning on telling you today. Almost fucking did in the morning and ruined everything.”
“Is that why…you've…?”
“Been away? Yeah! I wanted to plan all this special shit and make you chocolate. And I wasn't gonna half ass it.”
“You love me?”
Katsuki smirked, “Fuck yeah I do, Ei.”
“You don't have a secret boyfriend?”
“I guess my boyfriend is only a secret to your dumb ass.”
“You're my boyfriend?” He almost shouted, a laugh finding the end of his question.
“Ei. I sleep in your bed every night. I kissed you just this morning? I always kiss you good night when I come home?”
“I thought that I was dreaming that?” He sniffed.
“Holy hell, Ei.” Katsuki laughed, squeezing him so tight. “Fuck. I really am in love with a goddamn idiot.”
And, before the moment could pass him again he said, “I'm in love with you, too!”
“I sure hope so.”
Eijiro couldn't stop himself as he planted a kiss on Katsuki's lips. And, it seemed like Katsuki couldn't help himself either as he kissed him again and again.
“Alright, let's hurry up and eat your chocolate. I'm taking us out for dinner tonight.”
“Really?” He beamed.
“Yes, really . You think I wouldn't go 100 percent with this romance shit?”
“Aw man! I love you so much, Katsuki.” Eijiro loved the way that felt on his tongue. Like everything sweet and everything Katsuki .
“Wait? Is this why you've been calling me man and bro this entire goddamn time?”
“Well, yeah?”
Katsuki chuckled, letting go of his waist and taking his face in his hands. He gave him a pinch to his cheeks before squishing his entire face with a gentle force.
“I love you so goddamn much, Eijiro.”
“I love you more.” He tried his best to say, but it was hard when his… boyfriend was kissing him over and over.
Katsuki let go of his face, leading him to his bed to hand him all the things he had gotten him. And now, he felt kind of bad. He hadn't gotten Katsuki anything!
“Here,” Katsuki said, opening the small box of chocolates and placing one near his lips.
His mouth felt like it was in heaven as he ate the whole thing in one bite.
“Wow! This is really good!”
“Course it is.” Katsuki scoffed, giving him another.
“I was so sad about not getting chocolates today.”
“Yeah, you better not have. I told everyone to not give you any till later tonight.”
“What? Why?”
“Because. I wanted to be the first one to give you chocolates today.”
“It was worth the wait.” He grinned.
Katsuki smiled, reaching forward to kiss him again. He doesn't think his kisses would ever stop feeling like all his dreams come true.
And then, he was so sure. So sure that he was in love with Bakugo Katsuki and that Bakugo Katsuki somehow loved him back.
