Chapter Text

Now this….this was something you never expected. You had grown up on the films and books, had loved them to death in fact-it hurt having to separate yourself from it in fact-after learning what a bitch the creator was. It hurt-seeing her spew such hate to people who had done nothing to her, and in fact so many of them had found joy in her works-only to be stabbed in the back.

You had only wished you had seen her vileness from a younger age-if only so you weren't as heartbroken as you were when you saw her true colors for the first time. But you were only a child, and while she really didn’t hide her prejudices well, she hid them well enough behind magic and fantasy.

But even after all that, alllll that….you really never expected to be in the Harry Potter world…in fucking 1941. Apparently just before the new school year started in fact. Somehow-when you were just-reading some fanfic about Tom riddle(he had been an odd hyper fixation for you at the moment, and you were curious about what people had written about him, and most of it was very very wonderful), the world around you had begun to shake-like a godawful earthquake.

It felt normal at first, where you lived had earthquakes normally, so normally you never reacted to them usually, but this? Oh fuck; you were ducking underneath your desk for cover, curling up as you watched your room shudder and shake, items crashing to the floor, your poor pet crashing to the floor as its cage was knocked off the dresser and shattered-you quickly grabbed your pet snake, holding it to your chest as your breathing picked up, tears of terror in your eyes. Then everything started to go white, ringing in your ears as you curled in on yourself and your pet further, screaming as everything turned to nothingness.

It felt like you were floating, hovering in the air as wind whipped about, your heart beating out of your chest as you held (pets name) close to your chest, their head tucked into your neck. “Please please please,” you whispered, begging for whoever was listening to save you. “I don’t want to die-“

You dropped, and you screamed, free-falling into the abyss. Then you hit something-hard. Stone-cold and very painful as you landed on your back. “oooow” you groaned, pain shocking through your body as you lay on that cold stonework floor, (pets name) still held tight to your chest. You slowly sat up, wincing as sparks of pain flared up your back and tailbone. “Where the fuck am I?” you muttered, slowly opening your eyes to see a large room, decorated with paintings(that were MOVING?!) and artifacts you had only seen….only seen….oh. my. Gods.

“holy shit.” You muttered; you were-you were in the Hogwarts headmaster's office-it had to be-it looked exactly like it. Though there was no Fawkes perched at the bottom of the staircase, there looked to be one less portrait on the wall-and there were certain items not in the room you were sure would’ve been in there if this was in fact Dumbledore’s office.

“um, excuse me?” you asked quietly as you stood and walked over to the portrait closest to the ground, another white old wizard, with dark black hair and emerald robes. He looked down at you, tilting his head-looking quite surprised to see you, his eyes gazing at your odd clothing. “where-where am I?”

He rose his brow, gesturing around at the office “you’re in Hogwarts, isn't that obvious?” You shook your head, feeling (pets name) hiss and swirl around your fingers and palm. “no, yes-I know that. But-who’s-whose office is this?” the old wizard furrowed his brows, then answered your question. “You’re in headmaster Dippet’s office, really girl, how could you not know the headmaster of Hogwarts?”

Dippet? As in-the headmaster before Dumbledore?

“Oh, shit” you muttered, biting the inside of your cheek, looking back up at the portrait “what-what year is it? If I may ask? Sorry-“ he held up his hand, stopping you from apologizing about your being all over the place and seemingly forgetful about where and when you were. “oh stop apologizing, it does nothing. but; it is 1941.”

Your heart dropped to your feet.

1941…

1941!?!

You stared at the portrait, unable to speak as you took a few steps back in shock. 1941…holy fucking shit. You turned as the iron door to the room opened-headmaster Dippet himself stepped into the room, Dumbledore right behind him. they were speaking-and upon seeing you, they paused.

“oh,” Dippet said, looking slightly weary, while Dumbledore had a twinkle in his eye-like he knew something. He probably did-what he knew? You had no clue-but that mf knew something. “And who might you be?”

You stumbled for words, bringing (pets name) closer to you as she hissed slightly, weary of these new humans. “i-uh-I-“ you bit your lip, not really knowing how to explain…anything.

“She fell out of the sky only moments before” a painting from above spoke-the wizard you had spoken to moments ago feigning sleep. “in a flash of light.” You nodded, pointing towards the voice.

“yeah, I was-at home-and there was an earthquake and-suddenly I’m here?” it sounded like a question as you found your words to explain, shrugging as Dippet rubbed his beard, he and Dumbledore looked at you like you were something to study. It was very awkward. “How peculiar,” Dumbledore said after a few moments of quiet, walking up to you and taking out his hand, nodding towards it as if asking permission to use it. You nodded, knowing he wouldn’t hurt you unless he had a reason. As he waved his wand about, Dippet walked to his desk, moving about some files and muttering to himself.

“How old are you dear?” Dumbledore asked after he waved his wand about, and you furrowed your brows, why would he need to ask that? You were clearly at least 21, you were….you were nearly his height after all-but you weren't, you were much shorter. You looked up at him, realizing-you were shorter and your clothes felt baggier as well. You looked down at yourself, gasping. You-you were younger. You quickly found a mirror, jaw dropped open as you stared at yourself.

“Holy shit.” You muttered, turning your face every which way, gazing at your teen self. You had to be 14, at the least-how in the hell had you gone from 20-something to 14 in less than a minute? “uh- fourteen-I guess?” you said it like a question, turning back to Dumbledore who looked very amused. “Were you not fourteen a few moments ago?” he asked, chuckling as Dippet continued to go through the papers on his desk, muttering something about a transfer student. You shook your head, looking down at (pets name) and rubbing her little scaley head, seeking comfort in her warmth.

You were 14 now, in 1941, in the fucking wizarding world. How in the hell did you get yourself into this mess?

-

Tom Riddle felt an intense shudder go down his spine as he rode the Hogwarts Express back to school for his 4th year. Shaking his head to rid the ringing that suddenly plagued his ears. “You okay tom?” Malfoy asked, furrowing his brows as Tom waved him off, blinking away the blinding light that blurred his vision.

“Fine.” Tom muttered, looking out the window as mountains and forests passed him by. “I’m fine.”

What the hell was that?
