In the midst of the apocalypse, things are tense between Will and Mike. The worst part is Will doesn’t even know why. It just feels like Mike stopped caring about him. That is until a future version of Mike turns up on their doorstep and turns Will’s whole world upside down.

Summary
I wrote this at like 3:00am based on a dream I had. So.
.Mike was touchy, it was just in his nature.
Maybe that's why, when Mike reached out, hands cupping his own, leaning in close, a murmur of “I miss you, Will. I miss us,” all Will did was squeeze back, the way he always had.
It started off the same as always, something unintentional that Will could brush off, accident touches that slowly grew into something friendly, platonic, normal. The occasional nudge of an elbow to his side, a long look and a hand reaching out to grip his shoulder. Simple. Friendly.
But now?
Now Mike couldn't seem to be able to keep his hands off of him.
It was driving Will crazy.

"Am I doing it right?" Mike gasped, his voice cracking as he pushed his hips down hard. "Will? Does it feel... is it too much?"
"It’s perfect," Will choked out, his eyes squeezed shut, fingers digging into Mike’s shoulders. "God, Mike, just stay there. Don't move."
"I can't move," Mike groaned, dragging himself upward in a slow, punishing slide that made Will’s breath hitch.

Mike is convinced he’s broken. After a string of disastrous dates and a girl walking out of his dorm mid-hookup because he’s "too much," he’s spiraling. He decides he needs to practice, and the only person he trusts is Will.
Will agrees to a month of no-strings experimentation just to be close to him, but the line between "practice" and reality disappears the second they’re behind a locked door. “Look,” Will says, turning fully on the pallet to face Mike, one hand reaching down for the rough wood to find purchase and ground him. “Do you-, do you want to show me. Like-, like want to practice?”
Mike’s eyes widen but he doesn't say anything.
“Sorry, stupid idea, just wanted to help.” Will is trying to gather the words back up from the air between them and into his mouth.
“I never thought it was stupid.” Mike says, so quietly it's not much more than an exhale. “I suggested it first.” He adds, like it's a secret.
Will grips the pallet harder. “Show me. I really do want to help.”
Mike bites his lip a sec, and Will thinks he's going to say no, but then Mike's darting forward and pressing his lips firm and quick against Will’s. It's barely a kiss. Not romantic. Not enough to leave a scar. Will bleeds anyway.

Or: Mike has been kissing Will on and off since they were seven. How are you supposed to recognise an avalanche when you are drowning in snowballs?

Summary
Now, Mike had almost three extra years' worth of memories, including the revelation and inevitable acceptance of his feelings for his best friend and the subsequent aftermath of said best friend’s heroic sacrifice.
“No, no, no, NO! I just got you back! Please, please, Will, please–I can’t lose you, not again! WILL–”
He remembered the two girls placing their hands on his shoulders, Kali’s sympathetic grip and El’s agonized clench as they gazed down at their adopted brother.
Now, here he was, the summer it all started going too wrong to right.

After Will sacrifices himself to defeat Vecna, Mike is sent back in time to the beginning of season 3 to prevent any more tragedy
Now, he'll do whatever it takes
For Will.
