“Jesper! Eyes on the road!” Matthias yelped, for the hundredth time in the hour they’d been driving. The car was a chaotic one, at best. Nina was leaning over in her seat, trying to paint her nails and change the playlists simultaneously, Kaz was scribbling in a notebook, hissing at Nina about the playlist she was putting on. Wylan was alternating between playing his flute and joining Matthias in criticizing Jesper’s driving, and Matthias was in the front seat, terribly carsick and equally sick of being in a car under Jesper’s control. As for Inej, she’d been peacefully doing a crossword until the antics had started again; and with the smell of nail polish, Jesper’s speeding and swerving, and Matthias’ gags, her stomach was growing uneasy.
