He's got that princely appeal

Summary:

Everyone knew how pretty Midoriya found Monoma. Everyone but Monoma apparently. Which really was a mystery because nearly every student in 1-A and 1-B has heard at least one full Midoriya rant about how pretty Monoma is.

Kendou, bless her soul, has been the recipient of so many of these rants ranging from how nice his voice sounds to how beautiful his face is. Once she had learned about the play that her class would be performing for the cultural festival, and even more so that Monoma would be playing the prince, she knew Midoriya would be ecstatic.

Work Text:

Excitement had been piling up for all UA students, with the cultural festival coming up.

Midoriya felt so lucky he was friends with Kendou.

When he learned that class 1-B was doing a play for the school festival, with Monoma as the prince mind you, at the same time as their concert he was devastated. Midoriya would have loved to take the time to ogle Monoma playing Romeo and listen to the way he elegantly spoke his lines. Sadly, he would be dancing on stage. Which, of course, he was excited for! He loved his classmates and he'd been hoping this performance would bring joy to UA. It's just, Monoma was so so pretty.

Kendou had approached Midoriya after a joint training and motioned for him to walk with her.

"Midoriya, I heard that you were a little distressed over being unable to see our class," she turned away from Midoriya and poorly coughed out a 'Monoma', "perform at the cultural festival," Kendou turned to look at Midoriya,

"I maybe could possibly record the play and a bit of our practice for you." Kendou smiled at Midoriya,

"You would do that for me Kendou?" Midoriya grabbed her hands, absolutely elated at Kendou's kindness.

So, he asked, read begged, Kendou to record a copy for him to watch after the festival was over. She had handed the USB to him this morning with a wink.

Sitting in class knowing that he had a whole copy of the play with bonus content was torture. His leg was constantly bouncing, and he has no control over his muttering. After class Uraraka tried to stop him and ask if something was up, she was quite the observant friend. Midoriya had been waiting long enough so he muttered some half-assed excuse and rushed to his room, like a normal person, to watch the play.

Pulling out his laptop and just about ripping his bag open to get the USB out, Midoriya sat at his desk and plugged it in. Watching the file slowly load was killing him. The moment the video loaded and Midoriya pressed play he was awe-stricken.

Right now, he was so so glad he was friends with Kendou. Monoma was gorgeous. Like oh god how Midoriya wished he saw this live. Watching Monoma spout romantic lines to the princess had a slight flush rising on his cheeks. If those words were directed at him Midoriya thinks he'd just die on the spot.

Focusing back in on the play, Monoma pushed his hair back while reciting something. Midoriya didn't hear the words. All he could think about was the way Monomas hand ran through his hair, the way his face looked so pretty without bangs in the way, and the way Monoma would look so goddamn good with his hair pushed back.

Don't even get Midoriya STARTED on how Romeos' costume looks on Monoma. The shirt and pants were so flattering that Midoriya wishes Monoma wore them every day. They had put a slight amount of makeup on Monoma for the play. It was just enough that it wasn't noticeable unless you saw Monoma every day. Or if you stared at him anytime he was around.

The light eyeliner he adorned was so attractive. Could Midoriya just subtly get the blonde to wear eyeliner with his hero costume? They put such a small amount of eyeshadow on Monoma but Midoriya thought it made him look so, well, princely. On his lips was a light layer of lip gloss that made Midoriya want to kiss him more than ever.

This play was doing terrible things for Midoriya's yearning.

Throughout the whole play, Monoma had been wielding a sword and my god did he look good doing it. Midoriya knew the sword was probably foam but the way Monoma maneuvered it was just so hot.

They had put flowy sleeves on Romeos' costume, and it was such a nice touch. Monoma looked so handsome with them. He really was the perfect candidate to play the prince.

When the play had ended Midoriya was mildly sad, he could always rewatch it again and again, but nothing would ever compare to seeing it the first time. The dance number Monoma had done with, oh her name was Kundoi or something, the princess was just beautiful. How Midoriya wished that was him, to be offered a dance with Monoma, his hands on Midoriya's hips as he led the dance, how wonderful that would be. The idea of him-

Hold on. Something was still playing. Midoriya was so enamored with his memories of Monoma that he'd completely forgotten that Kendo had recorded extra content for him!

And, oh god, was this extra content so wonderful. The first clip was one of Monoma during practice, stumbling through his dance alone. Midoriya longed to be the one dancing with him. The second clip just about killed Midoriya. It was a closeup, vlog-esk, video of Monoma before the performance getting his makeup done.

How was one man so handsome? Watching him get his eyeliner done as he hummed to the music playing was a heavenly experience. The final clip though is without a doubt what resulted in Midoriya going into cardiac arrest.

It was a clip of Monoma after the show.

"Monoma, what do you have to say to all your adoring fans?" Kendou had asked. Midoriya expected a normal response, something like 'oh thank you for all the support'. Or maybe something like 'Of course they love me, I'm not some 1-A loser,' as that was more along the lines of something Monoma would say.

Instead,

"All the love to them, I adore my fans." Which, by itself was a very cringe thing to say, in fact, if anyone but Monoma had said it Midoriya thinks he could have would have died from second-hand embarrassment. But this was Monoma, the man he'd been pinning after since the sports festival. So, this simple line had been enough to do him under.

The video ended with a simple message from Kendou. It said 'You should ask him out' with a little winky face at the end. Midoriya might have been a little delirious, but with his delirium came blind courage.

The walk to class 1-B's dorm was only about 5 minutes and on the way over Midoriya had regained his head yet, he had decided that today was the day he would ask Monoma out.

"Does anyone know where Monoma is?" Midoriya slammed open the door of the 1-B dorm. Little murmurs along the lines of 'holy shit is he actually gonna do it?' spread around while Kendo just pointed at the stairs and mouthed that Monomas dorm room was the first one on the third floor.

Midoriya is sure he almost fell 3 times as he skipped steps to get to the third floor. Knocking on the door several times, he heard grumbling inside. Monoma opened the door with slightly messy hair and Midoriya immediately wanted to run his fingers through it.

"Midoriya?" Monoma paused to look him up and down, Midoriya was light-headed.

"Monoma, I have had such a strong crush on you since the sports festival. I am asking you on a date, please."
