Chapter Text
Asa absolutely hates Denji’s guts.
She knows she had said the same thing before all over again when she encountered him, especially during their ‘date’ where they both cussed at each other to go to hell, but it’s for real this time, and she doesn’t think any of his actions in the future is about to change her mind.
They were supposed to go on their second date yesterday but Denji stood her up, leaving Asa in front of their high school gate waiting for him for hours until the sky began to go dark. She can’t help but click her tongue at that memory. Why did he even ask for another date if he wasn’t going to show up anyway?
Then there was that guy Yoshida who, right after she was mumbling to herself that she’s better off on her own, appeared next to her and told her not to see Denji again because of some reason he refused to elaborate. Asa has an assumption of what it could mean, but she doesn’t care anymore.
She admits that her first interaction with Denji started in the wrong foot because of how crazy of a Chainsaw Man fan he is, but for a good while, she actually enjoyed his company during their first date, even though that didn’t go the way they wanted it to be because of the interference of the Eternity and Famine Devils.
He was a person between human and cat, she concluded from Yoru’s suggestion. Denji comes off as this pathetic loser of a Chainsaw Man fanatic and a scammer, but at the same time, the latter part has good intentions for he only wants his little sister to live a normal life.
But with what he did yesterday, she can no longer care less. There’s no reason for her to be so stuck on this absolute idiot of a person she only knew for a short amount of time. Those instances where she was flustered by him were mere moments of weakness.
Maybe Yoshida really made a good point back there when he agreed with her, that people who are in solitary with themselves are in a better situation to be in than in a relationship with another person which does not have a definite and consistent fate.
As Asa walked to school with semi-scrunched eyebrows, she swore to herself that she would never talk to him again. He would’ve been a beneficial weapon for her and Yoru in their fight against Chainsaw Man in the future, but if that’s how he wants it to be, then fine. All she should be caring about is getting back her body anyway. She won’t be distracted by such foolish stuff again.
She walked inside her classroom ten minutes before actual classes start, shivering from some of the stares she was getting from her classmates.
Ah, I see, she thought. They still haven’t forgiven me for that Chicken Devil incident. I guess it’s fine. If I was them, I’d hate me, too.
Asa’s eyes caught something of a bright color lying on her supposedly empty desk. She came closer and dropped her bag on her chair, picking up the curious object. It was a small pink sticky note with crooked-like words written on it. Who in the world would bother leaving something like this for her? As she began to read its three words, her brows quickly furrowed upon seeing the name at the bottom, indicating who it was from.
Sorry about yesterday
-Denji
The fucking audacity of this guy. Asa scowled at the sight of the note, crumpling the small paper in her hands. Oh, so now he’s talking to her like this after what he did. Not even a sorry emoticon was drawn or anything. She knows that this is better than him not apologizing at all, but it really doesn’t change anything. He stood her up on their date and that was that.
She clicked her tongue once more, shoving it in her bag to discard it. Yoru only gave her a deadpanned look as Asa slumped down on her chair with a pissed expression, wondering why she didn’t actually get rid of it by throwing it in the trash bin right beside the room’s door.
