It was a quiet day in Alterna. The Squid Sisters had business to sort out, Neo Agent 3 was busy in Splitsville and Cuttlefish was happily asleep at the camp. Basically leaving Captain by herself. She was sitting on her favourite cooler as usual, gazing into nothingness. It was nice for her. She finally had time to herself for once. And she was using it to think about a certain someone…
“Ah! You are here!” She was suddenly snapped out of her thoughts as she froze. The voice. It was one she knew all too well. One she was just thinking of. She glanced over to the source of the voice, raising her head off her hand in awe.
“Amber.”
“Hello Captain!” Agent 8 excitedly waved over to her from the manhole. She was smiling ear to ear, showing off her little fangs. Just looking at her made Captain weak. She couldn’t help but blush a bit. “Is it safe… to walk on this white, fluffy stuff on the ground?” The octoling pointed down in front of her.
“Y-yeah.” Captain cleared her throat, trying to make it go back to its usual monotone pitch. “It’s snow.”
“Snow?” Amber tilted her head in confusion. She stared at it once again before taking a step onto it.
CRUNCH
She slowly glanced up at the inkling. “It made a sound when I stepped on it!” Amber was like an excited kid in a toy store as she placed her other foot in the snow. “My footprint is here too!” Her amber orbs sparkled at the sight while Captain felt her heart weaken once again.
“She’s so cute.” She thought to herself, admiring the octoling from afar who was now touching the snow with her hands.
“It is very cold! Is this normal?”
“Yeah.” They continued to shout across to each other.
“The world is full of mysterious things.” Amber observed the snow in her hands curiously. “Ah!”
She dropped it.
“Hm?”
“I got distracted!” She finally made her way over, running as fast as she could. “I came here to visit you, not play with this ‘snow’.” Sitting down on the side of the cooler, she stared at the Captain. She was smiling at her.
“W-What is it?”
“Just happy to see you once more.” The inkling felt herself go bright red. She pulled down her cap, hiding her face. Amber giggled as she reached for one of Captain’s tentacles. She proceeded to wrap it around herself. “I have missed this.” Snuggling up in it, she began to stroke the scars. “It has healed, I am glad.” “Yeah.”
There was a long silence between the two of them however it wasn’t awkward. It was nice. Amber had fallen asleep, resting her head on the silent squid’s shoulders while Cap gazed down at her. You could see a little smile on her face.
“I-”
“We’re back!” A loud, familiar voice interrupted. It immediately woke Amber out of her sleep as she fell off the cooler in shock. She was still wrapped around the Captain’s tentacle which pulled her down too. Two squids flew out the manhole and landed beside each other. It was the Squid Sisters. “Hope you didn’t miss us!” Callie waved. The cousins looked over at the camp to see Captain on top of Amber, their lips pressing gently against each other. Both of them were completely red in the face.
“I guess we were interrupting something.” Marie smirked, putting her hand to her mouth. Captain pulled away then glanced over at them. She quickly got up. Amber, however, was still lying in the snow. She had slowly covered her face in embarrassment.
“Let’s leave them in peace.” Callie began to push her cousin towards the manhole. Captain tried to go after them but tripped and fell face first into the snow. She laid there in silence.
“I-I apologise!” Amber yelled out in embarrassment, her voice echoing throughout Alterna.
