Chapter Text

It was a dark gloomy day on the island of Griffen Rock as the island's people were about to say goodbye to their chief of police. It was a day that nobody looked forward to, especially the Burns siblings themselves. The bots were explained beforehand what was going to happen, though none of the bots was looking forward to it. It seemed like yesterday Chief Charlie Burns was still around. It also seemed like yesterday when the police officer lost his life.

It was a rescue that went terribly wrong. Chief was in the building looking for anyone else inside the area with Chase waiting outside for the officer's next command when the building collapsed without warning. Charlie made it to the hospital though he was falling in and out of the caucuses due to the amount of blood loss. He has rushed into surgery right away with his kids waiting in the waiting room hoping for a good outcome. It wasn't soon until the Burns siblings were joined by others waiting on news about the chief.

Amy came soon after Graham informed her about what happened. Doc Green arrived at the hospital anxious about his old friend's well-being, hoping he would be okay. Soon after Mayor Luskey and Huxley Prescott came to the hospital waiting on news about the chief's health. With news as big as this, it felt like time had been put to a stop. Only for the worst outcome to become reality.

The viewing was held at the garage of the firehouse, It was something that Chief Burns would have wanted. After all, it was his home for all these years. From young to old, the whole island came to see the Chief one more time. It was an emotional and heartbreaking day for the island that was full of tech. The same emotions would be felt today across the island.

Graham was walking down the stairs to the dining area wearing a dark grey dress shirt, dark green dress vest, and jet black dress pants and shoes. Evan and Myles recently moved into the firehouse after proving that they had changed for the better. It was one of Charlie's last acts of kindness. The twins were in the kitchen going over the plans for today. The rest of the Burns siblings were sitting at the table slowly eating their breakfast.

" Morning Graham, " Dani said looking up at her first youngest brother as the helicopter pilot was wearing a black keen-length dress and dress flats shoes with cream leggings " You look shape today. "

" Thanks, Dani, " Graham said as he walked past Cody who was eating a pop tart with the young teen wearing a dress shirt that was collar sticking out behind the black sweater he was wearing with a pair of tan slacks to go along with a pair of dress shoes " Any updates on the hearer's company? "

" They should be here soon. " Evan said as he was making a cup of coffee for himself as Myles walked up to the engineer with a breakfast bar in his hand.

"That also means that you should catch some breakfast before everyone shows up. " The former thief said as he gave Graham a Blueberry flavored breakfast bar as a sad girn formed on Graham's face.

" Good point, " Graham said as he made his way to the elevator that leads to the garage " I'm going to make sure that the garage is set up, yell if you guys need anything. "

The oldest sibling Kade gave the engineer a thumbs up as the firefighter was munching on a piece of toast. The 25-year-old man was wearing the same outfit as Graham, except that he had a Dark Red Tie instead of a Dark Green Vest. The funeral started not so long afterward, the whole population of Griffen Rock was packed into the garage for the emotional event. Mayor Luskey spoke a few words before the family preset talked for a bit. Soon the stories from the town folks and close friends were shared, and there were a lot of stories.

Jerry who spoke about the time when Chief helped him with a gift for his sister Carin who was still in shock about Chief's death. To Doc who spoke about when Charlie came along to help doc get the rhinestone that was placed on Anna's wedding ring, including one of the many times the police chief save the scientist. Story after story, it was safe to say there was no such thing as dry eye in the room. There were stories about rescues even funny ones like when Charlie got himself stuck up in a tree for a few seconds while trying to get Mister Pettypaws back to the ground. Soon the last story was about to be shared by the Chief's own brother.

" Before I start I just wanted to say thank you, " Woodrow said trying his best to hold back crying " Thank you for keeping an eye on my brother for these years Charlie has been alive. "

" I have many stories about my dear brother, too many to pick from if I'm being honest. " Woodrow confessed looking at his brother's caste with a sallow look before facing the crowd.

" While this is a sad time, it's also a time to look back at his life and celebrate the good memories. " the young brother said as he felt his emotions rising with every passing second.

" One of the good memories for me was at his wedding, " Woodrow said as he looked back at the memory " It was a beautiful day, trust me it was. Knowing that he raised 4 amazing kiddos is something to be very proud of and I know Charlie is watching down on us all feeling honored that he was loved by many. "

Woodrow sighed softly as he was sounding like he was choking up " What I'm trying to say folks is that even if he is no longer with us. We shall not forget him and his presents in all of our lives. "

Soon after the Burns sibling's uncle sat back down in his seat, it was about time to place Chief's caste next to his wife in the ground. The ride there was mentally harsh for the siblings of four. The old parlor car followed the heare with the bots behind them. The rest of the island behind the bots drove up to this old oak tree in the middle of a fresh field of green grass. It was a beautiful and yet emotional setting on this day full of grief.

Kade was standing next to Hayley as he looked to the ground with one of his hands being held tightly by his girlfriend. Dani who was quietly sobbing as she was hugging Skip Scobble, an old classmate of hers and a former criminal who offered a hug of comfort right before the corpse of the Chief was brought lowered into the soil of mother nature. As Cody was hiding behind Graham like he was a little kid scared of what will happen next with the Greens family behind the siblings. The bots just watched in silence as they mourned the loss of the human that gave them a home when they first arrived on Earth.

After the cemetery, a community BBQ was hosted at the firehouse to honor Chief Charlie's life. Kade was trying his best to win a one-on-one game of basketball with Mr. Rubio which wasn't a surprise to Mrs. Rubio knowing her husband's daredevil and sportive side. Dani was busy explaining stories behind photos that were in family photo albums to members of the community. Myles and Evan were helping Doc with the food for the event knowing that most of the island came, they were going to need a lot of burgers and hot dogs. Cody and Frankie were helping watch over the children while the event was going on.

Graham was in the command room by himself, the guy's mental health needed a break from everything that happened today. Sitting in the chair thinking to himself, the young engineer reaches into one of his front pants pockets pulling out something that he is still surprised about. It looked like a car key, but in the shape of the Autobot logo on the bot's chest. Graham looked at his which colors looked like the same shades of green that was on Boulder. Another thing to be confused about he guessed.

Both Kade, Dani, and Cody got the same thing but the colors on theirs were based on Heatwave, Blades, and Chase. There were three others that didn't have any owners with the colors being based on Blurr, Salvage, and Quickshadow. Those three were lying down on the desk of the command center. No one, not even doc knew what they were for. All they knew was that they were from Optims though he never explained what their purpose for. The young engineer quickly put the item back in his pants pocket as he heard footsteps nearby.

" Hey Graham, the first batch of food is ready. " Cody said standing outside in front of the doorway of the command center.

" Thanks for letting me know bud, " Graham said as he stood up from the chair he was sitting in " Let's get going Code. "

The pair of brothers made their way downstairs now living in a world without their father. While it is a dark moment in the Burns siblings' lives, it was a start of new chapters in all four of their lives. Not knowing that it was going to be a new major new chapter in all of their lives. Including the people of the island full of tech known as Griffen Rock.

Chapter Text

5 months later, life has changed for many on the island known as Griffen Rock. Turns out those strange car keys-like things' true abilities were something out of a sci-fi movie. It gave a person the ability to turn into a superhero or somewhat like that. It was even that Doc Green was still trying to fiuger out after all these months. It was a mystery of its own for sure.

Those three leftover keys were able to find owners over these past months. One was Mr. Rubio whose first name was actually Justin got paired up with Blurr the race car bot. Quickshadow the famous spy car found her partner in Kade's girlfriend Hayley. Salvage ended up becoming partners with Skip. It was a surprise for all three humans and the Burns siblings themself. Especially for Scobble, he couldn't believe that aliens were real after all.

The former book thief was in shock as soon as he found out about the bot's real origins. He knew that there was something else about the bots, but he wasn't expecting them to live life forms from a different planet. It nearly took him a good few hours for him to get a single word out of his mouth. While this wasn't a surprise for Justin and Hayley, for the former talent agent that has been living on the mainland ever since he was 7 it was like he was living in a sci-fi film. It wasn't until one o'clock before Skip could speak again. Thanks to Rudio scaring the living daylights out of the poor guy.

" Another rescue completed, " Justin said as he takes a seat on the sofa located in the bunker " Another day in the life of a rescue hero. "

" No kidding, " Hayley said as she sat beside Mr. Rudio tired " That mission was challenging. "

" We make it out alive so that's the most essential part. " Skip mentioned as he walked up to the couch.

" Ain't that the truth! " Myles said walking out of the new command center with his twin brother walking behind him.

" Yeah and someone has to pick his son up from school soon, " With the words coming from the rescue bot known as Blur who was in his race car form " Come on Justin, we both know what Ellenor is like. "

With that Rubio leaned his head back to look at the bot at the same time Dani was entering the area by coming down using the fire pole. Just like the five of them, she was worn out from the rescue. Kade was at Doc's place helping out with an experiment. Cody was at his youth rescuer training program helping new recruits. While Graham was nowhere to be found.

Up above the bunker, Kade was in the kitchen making himself a piece of burnt toast. Placing the piece of bread in the toaster right as Dani enters the room. Behind her leaving the elevator was the firefighter’s girlfriend. Both worried about the teams' engineer's whereabouts and mental health. The older Bruns siblings looked over at the two with a worried and confused look, yet that smirk of his was still shown on his face.

“ Mr. Rubio and Blur left, “ Dani explains as Hayley took a seat at the dining table “ Any idea where Graham is? “

Kade quickly looks over at two girls as he got out the kitchen’s butter placer “ I think it's very clear where the geek is at. “

“ Can you not call him that, “ Hayley harped with a soft glare aiming at her boyfriend “ We all know that his mental health isn’t the best right now. “

“ Well, he is still a geek no matter what, “ Kade added as he got a plate out “ We all are still getting ahold of this new reality. “

Dani sighed softly with both of her hands on her hip “ True thought I’m starting to worry about Graham’s mental health. “

“ I think the whole island is personal. “ Hayley said with a soft frown on her face.

Kade sighed softly, silently agreeing with the two. He was starting to notice that Graham haven’t been okay lately. Knowing what happened to their dad, he was worried that the worst possible outcome for his brother. He was just hoping that everything will be okay. After all, this is Graham they are talking about.

Upstairs in his bedroom, Graham was sitting on his bed facing his desk. Thinking about starting some kind of computer code project. Coding was a hobby that he has lately picked up. Something that put the stress off a bit for the young engineer. Yet the key captured his attention again.

He couldn’t believe it, he was a superhero of somewhat now. It was like his 10-year-old self was jumping for joy inside of him. Yet he still felt confused about the whole thing. For Graham, it felt like everything was moving too fast. It was as if time and life were already moving on when he wasn’t ready to.

Looking back at his desk, a picture-framed photo of his dad stood out to him. The keys felt like a sign from both of his parents. As if the objects were a path to the next chapter of his life. Well, that is how Graham liked to think about it. He wasn’t sure about the rest of his siblings.

The rescue hero stood up from his bed and made his way to his desk slowly. When he got there he carefully picked up the picture frame. Just the photo itself brought a sad soft smile to his face. Seeing the Chef before everything brought some kind of comfort to the engineer. As it has brought Graham a sense of hope somewhat in a way.
