Sigyn had been eyeing her for a week now. When did she start looking at the queen in a different way?
It was something she couldn’t explain. All Sigyn knew was that Queen Loki had gone from just being someone she saw as her best friend and ruler, to Sigyn feeling an attraction towards her.
Queen Loki’s green eyes or laughter would stir awake something in Sigyn that was hard to keep caged.
Continuing to take brief glances her way, the blonde was surprised to find Loki gazing back at her. When their eyes locked, Sigyn’s cheeks went red as she dropped down, continuing to hide behind the pillar. Her heart was racing, not noticing the small smile of amusement Loki gave.
Oh Norns, she was in love with the Queen of Asgard.
Later that night at the party, Sigyn had noticed the queen walking off towards the balcony, leaving the loud room full of celebration. Following her, it was Loki who spoke first.
“It’s been awhile. Where have you been, Sigyn?”
She swallowed nervously, stating the obvious. “Your Highness…I was busy attending to the garden.” After all, it was her appointed job to maintain the garden and make sure the plants were growing with no problems.
Loki sighed. “Yes, but why does it seem you’ve been…purposefully avoiding me?”
Blue eyes went wide as Sigyn waved it off. “Your Highness–”
“Sigyn, there’s no need to stick with formalities when it’s just you and me,” the Queen said softly with a smile, “Just call me Loki.”
She felt as if her heart would leap out of her chest at that moment. It was hard for the words to come to her mouth, causing her to lick her lips and try to find something, but Loki took her breath away with them.
“As you wish…L-Loki.” She smiled up at her with rosy cheeks.
Beckoning her over to her side, the blonde was surprised to suddenly find herself being pulled into the lap of the queen who was grinning down with amusement. “Do you know how I became Queen of Asgard?”
“Because you’re the daughter of the former king and queen of Asgard?”
“Yes, but also no.”
Sigyn blinked with confusion.
Loki continued to smile at her. “It’s because I’ve always had a way of connecting with the people. I bring myself to their level and get to know them at where they are, not just from a throne.”
“You’re an admirable Queen.”
It slipped from her lips before Sigyn could realize what she had said, blushing. However, she wouldn’t take it back, meaning every word.
Next thing she knew, Loki kissed her forehead softly, pulling away with the same smile. “And you’re my most faithful.”
Feeling her heart racing again, Sigyn wondered if Loki could feel it too. Oh norns, what would everyone else think of a simple halfling servant such as herself falling for the Queen of Asgard? It would never be anything except the talk of the court.
Noticing the way Sigyn looked down, Loki raised her chin. “What’s on your mind?”
“Your High– I mean, Loki…you’re not what I was expecting when I came to Asgard to discover the other part of myself. You greeted me, a halfling, with warm and open arms, giving me a place to stay. You let me tend to the garden. You…continue to surprise me, even when I find myself falling for you.” She said, looking away shyly. “Why is that?”
“Falling for me or the way I treat you?”
“Both.”
“Have I not made my own feelings for you obvious?” Lady Loki asked, chuckling. “Since the day I met you, I’ve felt this…pull– a connection between us. It made me realize you’re the one I’ve been waiting for, the sun to my moon, the warm spring to my eternal winter.”
She reached out a hand, locking hands with Sigyn. That bond between them snapped perfectly together like a magnet finding where it was meant to stay.
“But the court! What will they say about us?”
The last thing she wanted to do was ruin or tarnish Loki’s reputation with others speaking of a half-elf, half Asgardian and gardener of the royal family in a relationship with the Queen of Asgard herself.
“Let them talk,” she barked, “it would be unwise to anger the queen, especially when there are two of them.”
Loki then leaned towards Sigyn, taking her into a kiss.
God help anyone who disrespected the Queens.
