Work Text:
Akito was sitting in his form class when his phone buzzed, he checked it recognising the chime as his closest friend: Touya Aoyagi.
"Hey can we meet at the Sekai after school, there is something we must discuss."
Akito stared at his phone with confusion but responded
"uhh yh sure"
He buried his thoughts about the ominous message and continued on with the lesson.

At the sekai
----------------------------------x------------------------------------
Akito sat next to MEIKO as he fiddled with his hands picking off his nail polish as he waited for Touya. MEIKO stared at Akito worryingly
"You alright there Shinonome-kun? Where's that friend of yours?"
"I'm not sure. He sent me this weird ass text and I-I don't know what it means."
"I'm sure it's not that bad sweetie. You can show me the text if you'd like."
"Yeah, thanks MEIKO"
As Akito was about to hand MEIKO his phone Touya opened the door to the makeshift café holding what seems like a bouquet of sunflowers. MEIKO noticed him too and walked away leaving the boys alone.
Touya walked towards where Akito was sitting and handed him the flowers. Akito stared and them in awe then stared at Touya's deep grey eyes fondly. Touya flushes a deep red at the eye contact and looks away bashfully.
"Thanks for these flowers, they are so beautiful Touya," Akito complimented still smiling at his dear friend, but he was still confused to why he received such a gift so he continued, " But why would you give these to me?"
"You see Akito, I've been planning to do his for a while and I wanted to do it in the best way possible and-" Akito could see that Touya was rambling so he cut him off with putting a finger to his kissable, pink lips.
"Hey it's okay calm down, take a deep breath"
Touya breathed slowly till he calmed down as Akito slowly removed his finger staring intensely at his friend's lips, wondering how they'd feel against his- NO! He needs to pay attention to Touya, there is something he needs to tell him and he needs to listen. As he tried to shove his thoughts down, Touya cupped his cheeks and leaned in to interconnect their lips. Touya pulled back quickly opening his mouth to apologise, but Akito grabbed his friend's (boyfriend?) hair and kissed him with such passion that it caught even Akito off guard. Touya smiled into his lips "Well that takes one thing off of my to-do list." Akito chuckled lightly as a response.
"DO YOU WANT TO BE MY BOYFRIEND?" They both shouted simultaneously. Laughing at that coincidence they nodded in unison and reconnected their lips into a sweet kiss. As the boys were so wrapped up in there own emotions they were completely unaware of the commotion going on behind them. Kohane was crying happy tears while An was recording the whole scene for her girlfriend also slightly crying for them.
Touya and Akito broke apart again smiling so brightly they felt like nothing in the world could bring down their high spirits.
(Or so they thought)
-----------x 4 years later x-----------
Akito and Touya have been dating for 4 happy years, and they graduated high school a year ago. They have been living together ever since. Their relationship had seemed to be going fine, but Akito had noticed that Touya had been acting off lately. He didn't know how to describe the actions of his lover, but he knew it wasn't normal for him in the slightest. For example, whenever he'd try to kiss him in public when other times it would be completely fine he was put down.
Even at home Akito's acts of affection were put down. Touya used to be so affectionate so what's up with him now?
When they went to bed that night Akito was going to find out what is wrong with his lover.
☆
As soon as they both had tucked themselves into bed Akito took his chance and decided to ask Touya what's wrong.
"Hey Touya,"
"Yeah, what's up"
"I wanted to ask you something."
"OH, oh okay what is it?"
"I was just wondering why you're being so distant lately. Like whenever I try to touch you or kiss you or anything like that you just- you just blank me. Why? Have I done something wrong? Just tell me. Please."
"Are you serious Akito? I really don't understand why you're so upset about that. You're overthinking things."
"NO! No I'm not Touya. Something is definitely wrong and you're not telling me."
"Just forget about it okay? Nothing is wrong. Go to sleep."
"I refuse to sleep until you tell me what the fuck is going on. I love you and I need to know what's wrong."
"FUCK AKITO. NOTHING IS FUCKING WRONG! JUST GO TO SLEEP!"
"YES THERE IS A PROBLEM! Please, I beg of you - tell me what's wrong." Akito grabbed Touya's shoulders in desperation and had tears welling up in his eyes. Touya just turned his head away.
"Akito, please just leave it."
"Touya, please."
"No."
"Touya-"
"NO! If you can't accept that then this," He gestured between the two of them "Won't work"
"W-what do you mean.."
"I'm saying that we might need a break."
"Touya please, don't do this."
"I'm sorry Akito but it just doesn't seem to be working."
"TOUYA PLEASE DON'T GO!"
"I-I'm sorry."
Touya left the apartment without saying anything else. Akito watched him pack his things in fear of losing the one person he truly loved, but it was too late now. He has already left him and there is nothing he can do about it. Akito walked to his dresser and pulled out the engagement ring he was planning on giving to Touya, opened the box and put the ring on his finger. He curled up into a ball in his bed and cried hard whilst looking at the ring at his finger.
This is the worst pain he has ever felt.
☆
Today was the day that Akito and Ena had planned to meet up again. She was excited to talk to her little brother as she wanted to know how the proposal went with Touya. She and her spouse Mizuki knocked on the apartment door but got greeted with no response. Mizuki looked at their wife with confusion but Ena just shrugged with equal confusion. Ena knocked on the door a little louder this time
"AKITOO OPEN THE DOOR!"
No response again. What the hell is going on?
"Mizuki give me the key's."
Mizuki stared at their wife with an unreadable expression and handed Ena the keys. Ena opened the door, slowly walking into the isolated apartment building. Ena looked at her spouse, sensing that they were slightly worried about the situation and grabbed their hand.
As they walked further in and after Ena had checked all the rooms she knew the two men frequented she walked to the bathroom. Ena asked Mizuki to ring Akito just in case he just wasn't in, chastising herself mentally on why she didn't think about this earlier. Mizuki nodded at her wife taking her phone and walking out of the dim corridor. Ena cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled out Akito's name just in case. No response again. Just as she was about to yell once more Mizuki tapped Ena's right shoulder and shook their head. Right. That's it. Ena barged into the bathroom door to see her little brother sitting on the floor with a large kitchen knife in his chest. She screamed in terror as she stared at the corpse. Mizuki trembled next to their wife - too shocked to make a sound. Ena kneeled down next to her brother and cried whilst holding his cold, lifeless hand.
She remembered all those times she had with her brother, wishing she could've made one more memory with him or at least said goodbye. All she could do was cry.
Ena was crying for a good 5 minutes until Mizuki tapped softly on her shoulder and handed her a piece of paper.
"Hey what's this?" She cut herself off as she recognised the handwriting. Akito. She decided to read the note properly. It said:
"Hey whoever is reading this,
It's me Akito but you probably knew that already. If you're reading this I'm dead. I'm sorry if you saw my body, that must've sucked. Well you can't dwell on the past. You're probably wondering "Oh Akito why are did you kill youself?" or "Oh Akitoo you had so much to live forr~". Well the simple answer is - there is no reason for me to go on anymore. The one person I truly loved and I thought loved me, doesn't anymore. He just left and and what is the point of living if it isn't with him. That's not living that's just existing and I don't want anything to do with that. So goodbye and thank you for reading. Enjoy your life! Don't be sad about my menial death and live. There is one more thing I need to say but if your not Touya, it isn't necessary for you to read but I dont care if you do." Ena cut her reading off after that. She will respect her brother's last wishes. It's the least she could do.

It was finally the day of Akito's funeral and Touya wasn't prepared for it. He looked into the bathroom mirror and adjusted his tie nervously. Kohane knocked on the door lightly and told him that she and An were ready to go to the funeral. Touya looked away from the mirror and walked towards the door. He opened the door slowly trying to hold back his tears and smiled at Kohane. She took in his sad expression and gave him a hug of reassurance. An called the pair to hurry and they rushed to the door. An opened the front door, pulled her keys out of her pocket and unlocked the car.
Touya opened the back door and took a seat, the wives following suit trying not to trigger Touya's nerves. After what felt like an eternity they arrived at the burial ground. As Touya stepped out of the car he caught Ena's gaze. Stone cold. After she found out what had truly happened that's all he saw on her face. He tried to avert his gaze and focus on what was happening.
"Hey, Touya? You alright there man?"
"Yeah An, I'm a-alright."
He just needed to get through the funeral and it'll be alright.
☆
~After the funeral cause I'm lazy as shit~
☆
The funeral was over, Touya should've felt some kind of closure yet he still felt nothing. He deeply regretted the argument he had with Akito, he shouldn't have let his father's words get to his head like that. Touya felt so pathetic, so weak. He let everyone down including himself, Including Akito. He's the reason why Akito is dead.
His fault.
His fault.
His fault.
His fault.
His fault.
Kohane and An tried to talk to Touya but he ignored them and walked past the car and towards the road and didn't look back
