Nothing would ever be the same. Nothing has been the same ever since that incident. Takemichi blames herself everyday for it, if only she had been more careful things would’ve been different for him.
It happened on a cold and dark night, she had been walking home with some groceries. It wasn’t often Mikey would let her go out without at least one bodyguard, so it was refreshing to be alone for once. She liked the way the cold wind blew on her face, she knew that her baby would probably like it too. She smiled warmly as she rubbed her stomach, he was so big now. Takemichi and Mikey decided they wanted to have a child, so they went to a fertility clinic and Takemichi was able to get artificially inseminated. When they found out they were pregnant the couple was ecstatic and immediately started preparing for their baby’s arrival, they bought a bunch of furniture and toys and received gifts from friends as well. Takemichi was currently 6 months, she was excited for the birth of her beautiful baby boy. Though Takemichi was hoping for a girl she was still overjoyed when she found out her baby was a boy. Takemichi and Mikey had decided they were going to name their son Asahi when he was born. It was Mikey who suggested it who said she was sure their son would be as bright as the morning sun. Takemichi thought it was a beautiful name and immediately agreed, she was ready for this baby. She was ready to welcome a new chapter into her life with this baby.
But it was all ruined. On that same night she was attacked, by some gang that has been gaining a little fame because of a few crimes. Somehow, they found out she was the wife of Mikey. So she was attacked and held hostage by a few of the members and their leader. Of course Mikey came to her rescue but when she arrived it was too late, she had been stabbed. Takemichi’s world collapsed on that day, she already knew that her baby was dead. It was like in that very moment she felt her son’s heart die, it was a terrible feeling and it left her screaming like a mad woman.
After she was discharged from the hospital she refused to say or do anything, Mikey practically had to do everything for her. Of course Mikey didn’t have a problem with caring for her wife, what upset her was that Takemichi didn’t seem to ever acknowledge her anymore. It was like she was living with a life size doll, that had no emotions whatsoever. Mikey could partially understand how her wife felt, having to lose the child that you were growing inside you was like losing a part of your soul. Mikey tried her best to be gentle with Takemichi, showing her all the love and support she needed according to their therapist. But Takemichi’s lack of reciprocation also started to take a toll on Mikey’s mental health, she began thinking that Takemichi blamed her for their baby’s death. She assumed that Takemichi cursed her for not arriving earlier, so she began to drift farther and farther from Takemichi until she didn’t even speak with her at all. Takemichi on the other hand took this behavior as Mikey telling her she didn’t love her anymore, which just increased her depression. After a few months she started doing things for herself again, she even started going outside much to Mikey’s dismay, though it was still hard for her. Having to see all the mothers with their babies, happily laughing and cooing at the innocent little things. Takemichi was beyond jealous, she felt deep hatred for those mothers, for having something she couldn’t it made her blood boil. There was even an instance where she almost kidnapped an unattended baby, but before she could the mother appeared and scared her off, when Takemichi arrived home she felt so ashamed of herself that without thinking she took a pen and duh it into her skin. Feeling and seeing the crimson red liquid leak down her leg gave her some type of satisfaction, before she knew it inflicting pain on herself became a daily task for her. Of course Mikey knew nothing of it but Takemichi felt even if she did know she wouldn’t care anyway, Takemichi would often use different tools for it as well. Some days she would use a pen, other days a box cutter, and some days a lighter, it didn’t matter what she used in all honesty just as long as she got that tingly feeling she would be alright.
Of course until Mikey found out about her habit, she had came home early because she had been tired. When she entered their shared bedroom she saw Takemichi sitting on the bed cutting a line across her stomach, Mikey rushed over to her and snatched the weapon out of her hand. They had gotten into a huge argument that day which ended with Mikey leaving the house and staying at a motel. Takemichi screamed and cried herself to sleep that night, she hated the way Mikey tried to interfere with her life, but at the same time she didn’t want to upset her wife anymore so she reluctantly stopped this harmful routine. And replaced it with a new one, drugs.
She had been first introduced to the types of medications when she reluctantly agreed to go to a party with Mikey. There at the party she met one of Mikey’s closest friends, Haruchiyo Akashi, or Sanzu as many called him and it hadn’t really been the first time, years ago when she was a teen girl she briefly met him but never really got close with him. She knew that he had some type of crush on Mikey and that he despised Takemichi for taking away his “queen” but Takemichi didn’t care, she was more interested in the pills the man had been doing every few seconds. When she found him sitting on a couch by himself in the VIP room of the lounge and bar they were at she decided to go and talk to him, she asked about the pills he was taking and within seconds he opened up to her about all the drugs he’s been taking like it was nothing. Takemichi guessed that if she ever wanted to get close to Sanzu she would just have to talk about drugs, she had asked to try some and he immediately agreed. Takemichi assumed this would just be a one time experience for her and she would never mention it again, I mean she was still young so it wouldn’t be a surprise that she would wanna try such a thing, and to her surprise she liked it a lot. So her and Haruchiyo started to hang out often, Mikey never saw anything wrong and just assumed that the two had developed a close relationship and she tried her best not to be too suspicious of her wife. Which just gave Takemichi an advantage to do these harmful activities more often.
Takemichi would be downing pills one second, sniffing some type of dust-like substance, or drinking something from a medicine bottle without even reading the label. She had officially became a drug addict, and she fucking loved it. Whenever she took drugs it felt like she was floating in an endless void where she had no worries or thoughts. The amount of drugs she took on a daily bases frightened Sanzu just the tiniest bit, but just like her after downing one pill all his worries evaporated like boiling water on a stove for too long. Though, the drug use did show a few problems for Takemichi later on. One night her and Haruchiyo went out to a nightclub and as usual they did all types of drugs, Haruchiyo kept encouraging her to take more and more and Takemichi wanted to take more but she was afraid of something happening to her in her drunken state.
”Promise me you will take care of me?” Takemichi said as she stared at Sanzu with the pill in her hand. He simply nodded before coaxing the drug into her mouth. The next day she awoke in a random man’s bed half naked and covered in unknown substances. She shot out of the bed and immediately began panicking as she looked around to find out where she was, but she froze when she heard her phone ring. Quickly picking it up and answering.
”Where the fuck are you.” She heard a voice say on the other end, it was Mikey. Takemichi began internally panicking when it hit her. That asshole Sanzu set her up. She felt her eyes begin to water before she began sobbing and screaming into the phone, it seemed to work and Mikey immediately began consoling her and said she would come to pick her up. That day Takemichi explained the situation but decided to not rat out Sanzu. She claimed that Sanzu had went to the bathroom and while he was away some guy approached her and offered her a drink, after that the whole thing was a huge blur. Mikey surprisingly believed her and told Takemichi she would take care of the bastard, Takemichi felt slightly bad for the innocent guy who probably did no such thing to her. Since that day Mikey had assumed Takemichi had been raped and only allowed her to drink within their house or one of Bontens owned establishments.
Though she hadn’t forgiven that fucking traitor Sanzu she still needed someone for her drug supply. So after that whole event she continued to hang out with him like nothing had ever happened. It wasn’t long till she was back on track with her routine drug use, that was until her body finally responded negatively to the drugs. She had suffered an overdose and had been rushed to the hospital, she barely even survived. When Mikey found out she was definitely not happy, but instead of fighting Takemichi she just cried. She cried so much she could barely even open up her eyes after, Takemichi couldn’t help but cry with her. That night Mikey slept peacefully snuggled up to Takemichi in her hospital bed.
The day after that was their real fight, however, and it was a nasty one. The couple’s screams could be heard all throughout the hospital, curses and insults poured out their mouths like water from a faucet. The fight ended with Mikey claiming she was done with Takemichi and that they were taking a break. Takemichi felt like her soul had been ripped straight from her body when Mikey left her hospital room, she blamed herself entirely for being so selfish and ignorant. After that night she didn’t eat for three days until she was practically force fed by one of the nurses.
After being discharged from the hospital a bodyguard Mikey had hired for her escorted her straight home. When she arrived the penthouse was quiet and empty, no Mikey to come up from behind and hug Takemichi welcoming her home from wherever she had been. Takemichi felt her eyes begin to water, she walked over to the living room couch and sat down. She just sat there quietly trying to find some type of way to keep herself sane without using drugs, harming herself, or begging Mikey to come home to her.
Then it hit her; alcohol. She was definitely no stranger to the substance since she had a nightlife and even drank a little as a teen, and she always enjoyed it since it made her feel relaxed. The same feeling from when she took drugs just maybe no as strong. She stood up from the couch and went down into the basement winery, she remembered when Mikey bought out the entire apartment complex and made the apartment below them ther own personal basement. She had made it especially for Takemichi because of her love of wine, it had been truly romantic. Takemichi entered the winery and was hit with the delicious smell of fresh wine, she went over to one of the store cases and opened it to grab two bottles. Takemichi grinned before hading back up into the penthouse.
She stationed herself comfortably on the couch and ran back into her kitchen to grab a glass, sitting back down on her couch and pouring herself a glass of wine. She stared at the deep red substance attentively before guzzling it down in one go, it was always nice to take a quiet time to herself a have a glass of wine, before she knew it just "a glass" became three glasses. And then three turned to five and so on and so forth. By the time she was halfway through the bottle she was already swaying and hiccuping, muttering words saying "Just one more, and I'm done." over and over again thinking that if she said it enough it would come true, but of course not all wishes will be granted.
In a matter of three months Takemichi had become an alcoholic, though it wasn't such a surprise. She was a young lonely woman who had no one but herself, it seemed her friends have been avoiding her more often since the alcohol had been making her more aggressive. So most of the time she was in her penthouse alone watching soap operas and snapping back wine and expensive cheeses like there was no tomorrow, she had no job or pets or children. Takemichi called this sad lifestyle her enjoying her youth to the fullest, but everyone just agreed it was her trying tell herself her depression was just her being independent. She had been drinking at most 3 bottles a day, it was a miracle she was still alive in all honesty.
Takemichi sighed deeply as she stared up at the huge chandelier hanging over her king sized bed, it had been a stark reminder on how she had everything yet nothing at all. Begrudgingly she got up and sa on the side of her bed before falling getting up and headed into her kitchen. She once again grabbed a bottle of wine and poured herself a glass, she lifted her wine glass and turned it from side to side admiring its fine craftsmanship. It was so perfect and pretty unlike her who's body was littered in ugly scars and burns and her face that no longer held its young liveliness. Stopping before fully drinking her wine, she dug into the pocket of her sweatpants and pulled out a small white pill. Smiling slightly before dropping the tiny thing into her wine glass and drinking it, followed by a few more drinks.
An hour had past and Takemichi was stumbling to make her way to the bathroom, she was getting the urge to throw up and didn't want a mess. She had tried her best not fall down, grabbing anything she could to keep herself grounded. Finally she made it into the bathroom and fell to her knees before vomiting everything into the toilet, this was a regular cycle for her so she wasn't as stressed as she used to be. She flushed the toilet before standing up and wobbling slightly, she turned to leave the bathroom when she felt her eyes get heavy. Before she could realize what was happening she fell to the side, feeling a sharp pain on her had before landing on the floor and knocking out.
Mikey groaned as she finally entered her home, she had taken a break from her wife and have finally came back. She made sure to message Takemichi she would be home but didn't get any greeting from her, assuming the girl was still upset with her Mikey entered the kitchen to try and find latter. When she entered she looked around noticing two empty bottles of wine and one half filled, she assumed maybe Takemichi had guests but noticed there was only one cup. Mikey sighed immediately understanding the situation and heading into her bedroom. When she opened the door she assumed to see her wife sleeping in their bed, however, she was greeted with an empty bedroom. Confused Mikey looked around when she noticed the bathroom light was on, she smiled slightly before heading over to the bathroom and knocking on the door lightly.
"Takemichi? Sweetheart, are you there?" Mikey called out. She was met with silence, she sighed before knocking again. "Look, I know you may be upset still but can we just be adults and talk it out?" Mikey called again but still no answer, she began to get more frustrated and began speaking a bit more rough. "Takemichi. Don't be like this." Mikey called out once again but still nothing. Instead of being more annoyed she became a bit worried with how silent her wife was. Knocking one more a bit soft but loud enough to be heard "Takemichi? Love? Are you alright?" Mikey asked softly, again no answer. Taking this as a sign she sighed before putting her hand on the doorknob "I'm coming in." She said trying to sound annoyed. But she was actually worried and scared and she was hoping she would open this door and see her wife in the bathroom asleep or actually giving her the silent treatment.
All those hopes shattered when she opened the door and was welcomed with the sight of her wife lying on the floor unmoving and a pool of blood around her head. Mikey dropped to the floor and held Takemichi in her arms, she shuttered when her fingers came in contact with Takemichi's icy cold skin. She must've been here for hours judging on the state of her body and the amount of blood. Mikey quickly pulled out her phone and dialed 911 hoping there was still a chance to save her beloved.
"Why...Why.." Mikey sobbed as she laid her face in Takemichi's lap. The girl was unresponsive and just sat there in the hospital bed, unmoving and silent staring out at nothingness. She wasn't dead but it felt like she was with her lack of movement or speaking. The doctors said it was just a response to the trauma to her brain and with the right medications and care she would be back to her normal self in a matter of time, but Mikey wanted to know how much time. She already lost her son and she didn't want to lose her wife too, Mikey looked up at Takemichi and cupped her cold cheek. When did it become like this? Mikey missed how it used to be, back when they were kids just messing around and being reckless not having a care in the world. She missed those days so much, she knew nothing will ever be the same. Her and Takemichi will never be the same.
Oh, she misses when they first met.
