Chapter 1-pain
Atsushi walked into the office. He had an off feeling about today, which he found was strange. There was nothing strange stated in the book for today.
Like he thought the day was normal. Dazais suicide attempts, Kunikidas shouting, rampos technical talk. Everything was normal.
But that feeling still stayed.
Atsushi didn’t know why, or how but it did and he couldn’t get rid of him no matter how hard he tried.
“Hey atsushi could you take these to the police station for me please?” Rampo asked, while pointing to a large pile of forms.
“Sure,” he answered as he grabbed the stack.
his head started to throb suddenly.
“You okay?” The detective questioned.
The tiger nodded And continued to walk to the exit.
The headache had worse as he approached. It got worse and worse and worse.
He began to sway and his eyes started to squint. The throb turned a pound. It got worse.
‘It hurts. Why does it hurt? It feels like I’m gonna pass out’
“Dazai! I thought I told you this already!” Kunikida shouted.
“It’s not my fault I forgot!” Dazai pouted.
The two were in the cafe on the first floor bickering about the fact that dazai had pestered the waitress for a ‘double suicide’ for the dozenth time.
Suddenly, a curdling scream was heard coming from on of the higher floors. It startle them both.
It could be from the agency’ they both thought.
Then, they both heard heavy rushed footsteps stomping down the stairs. The two were at the bottom of the staircase when Tanazaki saw them whilst coking down to get them himself.
“There’s something really wrong with atsushi,”.
They all rushed upstairs. What could be wrong with atsushi?
They ran into the agency office to see a horrible sight.
Atsushi. Screaming, crying, wailing on the floor in what looked like unimaginable pain. Papers scattered everywhere , he was probably carrying them out. The president was in the room, most likely from hearing the ruckus.
The tiger was holding his head. Pressing his hands against it hard, pleading for yosano who was holding him in her arms to make it stop.
To make what stop? What did they need to do to make whatever it was stop?
They all stood there, trying desperately to do something, to do anything , to get rid of whatever atsushi was feeling.
But there was simply nothing they could do but watch and try to comfort him through it.
Soon enough the boy passed out from the excruciating exhaustion that came with whatever that was.
The room was deadly silent. Everyone was stunned. Atsushi did look like he had a headache this morning but it didn’t seem that bad. Some medication would have sorted it. But this…. This looked like he had almost died. Like he would have killed himself to get out of the pain that was being given to him.
“What… just happened?”kunikida finally said.
“I..I don’t know..”rampo answered,” but we’re going to figure it out,”.
‘Byakko?’ He called, it was quieter than usual.
What had just happened? All atsushi could remember was that he had a headache and it suddenly escalated into what felt like a sledge hammer being pounded onto his head with no remorse at all.
Like someone had just ripped out a part of him.
He continued to walk through the plane of his mind. It’s where byakko -the books consciousness- rests.
He had wanted to check up on them anyway, though he was practically forced to now.
atsushi..?
‘Byakko!’
He ran over to byakko, who was laying on the ground. His long hair entwined all over, knotted and untamed. They had most likely tried to pull it out.
It wasn’t in its beautiful, long braid like it was this morning. Instead it was undone. Messy, which byakkos hair never was, even on a bad day.
They were still groaning and whimpering from the pain, they had felt as well.
They curled up into atsushis body, holding the man tightly, like a panda cuddling it’s mother for warmth and protection.
‘What happened? Why did that happen..?’
someone….someone took a page out of the book
‘How..!’ He mumbled, still loud enough to hear.
They ripped it… they ripped it out
That is why we are both experiencing so much pain at the moment, because our souls are connected to the book, they technically ripped out…. A part of us… specifically ..our…souls….
Thats all they could say before they passed out. Atsushi tried to shake them awake for more, but found it was no use and inevitably succumbed to the warm darkness once again.
