Chapter Text
"A cultural exchange."
"Of a sort, yes."
Aizawa stared at principal Nezu, exhausted from yet another day of wrangling his students. "Let me get this straight, you want to not only accept transfer students from Yokohama, a city completely cut off from the rest of Japan and notorious for its organised crime, but you also want 1-A to go on a trip there, accompanied by only myself and All Might."
"That is correct."
Aizawa sighs, "why now of all times, haven't these kids got enough on their plate with all the villain attacks happening recently."
"That is precisely why this is happening now. The students of 1-A have had more experience with fighting villains than any of their peers, yet they are still woefully naive when it comes to why people become villains in the first place. The children have such black and white views of the world, and I believe it would be good for them to experience and see the grey that the world truly is. This deal with Yokohama is the perfect opportunity for this, for it has no heroes or villains, and is instead kept safe by three groups of various moral codes, united by their love for their city. Rest assured Aizawa, the students will be perfectly safe, they will not be harmed by the Port Mafia, and will be under the protection of the Armed Detective Agency, one of the three groups protecting the city and their version of hero agency in a way" Nezu explains.
"And what about the two transfer students, where do they fit into this?"
"The two boys are merely teenagers, and their guardian wishes for them to have some semblance of a normal school life, since circumstances made it so they have not had the opportunity until now. Also, I am told that one of them has an Ability that All For One would want to get his hands on if he knew about it, so him being here surrounded by heroes will keep him safe."
"And you don't think they have an ulterior motive for this deal? Surely it can't be just protecting and teaching two boys in exchange for the first outsider trip into Yokohama since their barrier first went up two hundred years ago."
"Oh they undoubtedly have an ulterior motive, however the man I made the deal with owes me a favour, and has given me his word that the children will not be harmed" the principal says, smiling. He claps his paws together "Now chop chop, the transfer students will be arriving tomorrow, you should let your class know they're getting new classmates, they will want to prepare a welcome for them."
Aizawa sighs, it was going to be a long day.
Mori looked up from the paperwork on his desk as his office doors opened, waiting as the two boys entering finished their bickering and sat down in front of him.
"Dazai-kun, Chuuya-kun, how good of you to join me" he laced his fingers together, resting his chin on them as he smiled at them, "I'm sure you want to know why I have summoned you both."
"We have a new mission, right Boss?" Chuuya asked.
"Obviously chibi, I'm surprised you managed to figure out even that much considering how your hat is swallowing your brain," Dazai says, reaching out to grab Chuuya's hat. Chuuya aims a kick at his shin, "oi fuck of, leave my hat alone shitty Dazai!"
"Boys, save your flirting for outside of meetings if you please," Mori teases, still smiling indulgently at them.
"Wha- we're not flirting!"
"Ew, why would anyone flirt with the slug!"
They exclaim at the same time, both wearing a slight blush and pointedly not looking at each other.
Deciding to save them from any further embarrassment, even though he did find it amusing, Mori gestures to the paperwork in front of him.
"Chuuya-kun is right, I am sending you both on a mission together. You both know of UA I'm assuming?"
"The hero school in Musutafu? Of course, everyone knows about it, a bunch of stuck up goody two shoes learning to 'protect the citizens of Japan'" Chuuya says, scrunching up his face in annoyance at the thought of the school.
Dazai groans and flops forward onto the desk, arm stretched out in front if him, "I don't want to, I hate you Mori"
Grabbing the back of his coat, Chuuya pulls Dazai back up to a sitting position, "sit up, you can't talk to the Boss like that, besides he hasn't even said what we're doing yet!" he hisses.
"He wants us to infiltrate the school as students, don't you Mori?" he says, looking at Mori with a blank expression. "Most likely to have us investigate that class that keeps getting targeted by villains, and find out why All Might seems so attached to them, aside from his usual hero complex."
"That is right Dazai-kun, you will both be joining that class as transfer students. I have made a deal with the principal of the school, in exchange for letting you both transfer, once you are settled in, that class, and that class only, will be traveling to Yokohama and staying here for a while to learn that not everything is as black and white as their society tell them. Of course, while you are there, I expect you both to find information on the heros working there, as well as information on your classmates and why the League of Villains has been targeting them. I also would like to keep you, Chuuya, out of All For One's hands. I do not know whether he could gain Arahabaki if he takes your ability, but I don't want to risk it. The man is insane and would gladly destroy the world if he could, I would rather not make that any easier for him. Being in a school full of heros, much as it pains me to admit, would keep you safe and away from him" Mori explains. "The papers in front of you contain basic information on the school and the teachers, along with the finer details of this mission. Any questions?"
Chuuya scowled, "so I'm being babysat by a bunch of heros?"
"That's right, chibi is the same height as a baby so of course he has to be babysat!" Dazai grinned at him Chuuya.
"I'm not that short, and I'm sixteen I'm still growing dammit!" Chuuya kicked hard.
"Ow ow chibi is abusing meee" Dazai whined, clutching his leg.
"Your holding the wrong leg dumbass, though i can kick that one to if you want"
Dazai quickly let go of his leg, "I don't want that, you know i dont like pain chibi"
"Then shut the fuck up about my height!"
"Boys, enough. Any more questions regarding the mission?" Mori said sternly.
"No Boss", they both say.
"Good, you will be leaving for Musutafu tonight, you both should go read through your mission briefs and pack, Dazai-kun you should buy some new clothes, most teenagers don't wear suits unless they're somewhere formal."
At the obvious dismissal, the teens nod and rise from their seats, heading towards the door.
"Oh and I have given you both false ID's, I don't want you getting arrested and blowing your cover of being law-abiding ordinary students just because you decided to steal some alcohol," Mori said to them just before they reached the door.
"Thank you Boss" Chuuya said, turning and bowing his head, glad he wouldn't have to resort to stealing to get wine while in Musutafu.
"Chibi is an alcoholic~" Dazai sing-songed as they left the room. Mori heard a "fuck off" then a faint "ow" as the door shut behind them. He smiled, rising from his seat at his desk, walking over to the window and gazing over the city. He hoped that this mission would bring them closer together, make them grow stronger as a team. Only a diamond can polish a diamond he thinks to himself.

Chuuya sighed as he finished packing his bags, his clothes all folded neatly away inside, and one of his favourite bottles of wine wrapped up in his old hoodie to prevent it from breaking in transit. He didn't know whether there would be anywhere decent to get quality wine in Musutafu and he knew he would need it if he was to spend his days around a bunch of hero worshiping teenagers.
He glanced at the clock on his wall, noting that it was already five o'clock. They were due to leave at nine, so he had plenty of time to have dinner before they left. He sent off a quick text to Dazai to make sure he was running on time, since Dazai was notorious for being late for things and he had also had to go shopping for new clothes unlike Chuuya.
Slug
Hey are you finished with packing yet?
Mackerel
Nope~
Slug
Well hurry up
Mackerel
But Chuuuuyaaaa its boringggg
Slug
To fucking bad
Mackerel
:(
Slug
Look, If you promise to finish packing and get over here by 6 then i'll do crab for dinner
Mackerel
Really?! Fiiinnnee, chibi is such a slave driver, I suppose I can manage to be over there by 6.
Slug
Good, you better
He made the food on autopilot, having done the recipe plenty of times before, and ran over the rest of the information they had been given about their mission in his head while he cooked. They hadn't been given much, just some information on who each of the heroes working at UA is, and a basic mission brief. They were to keep the fact that they were from the Port Mafia hidden, only the principal knew, though no doubt class 1-A's teacher, Aizawa Shouta, also known as the underground hero Eraserhead, would have his suspicions about them. As far as the rest of the school staff and their class would know, they were merely two street kids from Yokohama, transferring as part of a government scheme to give impoverished teenagers a chance at a better life. Chuuya scoffed, no government would ever really be that concerned with saving poor people without getting something out of it in exchange. When they had been at the school for a time, the class would be invited to take a trip to Yokohama. They will get more details on this part of the mission closer to the time, for the near future they just have to focus on getting information on the heroes and heroes in training. The information would come in handy in the future, since these were the kids who will be the next lot of top heroes, and knowing their strengths and weaknesses would help if they were to ever decide to go against the Mafia or interfere in Yokohama at all. The final instruction on the brief had merely said 'Have fun ;)'. Mori would definitely gain some amusement from them pretending to be normal teens and having to be in close proximity to each other for a while, the Boss did enjoy laughing at their antics with each other, the bastard, Chuuya thinks to himself.
He finishes cooking and starts plating the food just as the front door opens, Dazai letting himself into Chuuya's apartment without knocking. The door had been locked but that didn't matter, Dazai was a skilled lockpick and frequently broke into Chuuya's apartment to mess with him.
"Just in time, here's your crab you mackerel bastard" he hands Dazai a plate taking the other one for himself and sitting on the sofa.
Dazai sits next to him, "chibi worries too much, I would have been packed in time."
"Yeah but then you wouldn't have eaten, your lanky ass doesn't get enough food, I'm not having a partner that collapses during a mission due to malnutrition" Chuuya says, reaching for his glass of wine.
"Aww is the slug worried about me?"
"Fuck off I'm not worried about you , I just dont want your shitty eating habits to make us fail a mission", he says, taking a sip of his wine while glaring at Dazai.
Dazai grinned at him, "when have I ever made us fail a mission, chibi, I'm used to not eating much, it's fine."
Chuuya scowled, "just because you're used to it doesn't mean it's healthy." He pointed his chopsticks at the taller boy, "now shut up and eat."
"Yes chibi sir" Dazai gave him a mock salute, before turning to his plate and eating.
When it got to nine o'clock, a sleek black car pulled up outside the apartment complex, and an old man got out and headed up to Chuuya's apartment. Dazai opened the door when he knocked on it, letting him in and gesturing to the bags by the door.
"You take the bags Hirotsu, I'll help chibi get in the car, I'm afraid the hatrack had a bit too much wine and fell asleep."
Hirotsu nodded then smiled when he saw the redhead asleep on the sofa, before turning and picking up the bags. He took them downstairs and placed them in the boot of the car before getting back in the driver's seat. The backdoor of the car opens, Dazai helping a sleepy Chuuya in before getting in himself. "C'mon chibi, in you go."
"Mmm sleepy" Chuuya mumbled.
Dazai smiles at him gently, letting the shorter boy rest his head on his shoulder, "go to sleep chibi, I'll wake you when we get there."
As he started driving, Hirotsu looked at the two executives in the back of the car, Chuuya asleep on Dazai while the brunette looked out the window. He smiled, glad that they were getting the chance to just be teenagers and not have their entire lives just be death. They were good for each other, and they deserved to have some happiness in their lives. He looked back to the road, and continued driving.
When Aizawa entered the dorm, he saw to his relief that all of his students were in the common room, which thankfully meant he didn't have to get anyone from their rooms. He cleared his throat, and they paused the movie they had been watching, some sci fi horror thing by the look of it, turning to look at him. "Can we help you sensei?" Iida asked.
"I have just come by to let you know that your class will be getting two new transfer students tomorrow. They are from Yokohama, and part of a cultural exchange scheme, the other part of which you will be learning about in a few weeks" Aizawa said. The class erupted, everyone trying to speak at once.
"Yokohama? But aren't they completely shut off from the rest of Japan?"
"My dad says that the city is entirely run by villains, what if the transfer students are bad?!"
"I heard that they don't have quirks there, will the transfer students even be able to become heroes if they're quirkless?"
"A cultural exchange scheme? Does that mean that we will be going to Yokohama at some point?"
"Ooh maybe they'll be hot girls-ow!" Mineta got hit on the head for that comment.
"Enough!" Aizawa said, "I will answer any questions you have tomorrow, and I'm sure the transfer students will be able to tell you themselves about Yokohama. I will see you in class tomorrow, goodnight." With that, he turned and left, exiting into the night and heading towards the city to go on patrol. It was going to be a long day tomorrow, and most likely a long few weeks. He could only hope that the deal would be honoured and his students stay safe and unharmed, but he would be keeping a close eye on the transfer students.
Notes:
Class 1-A were watching Alien and Mina felt very sympathetic to the alien, wanted it to win. Also did you know that Mina is canonically aromantic! She was my favourite even before i knew that, so knowing she is aro the same as me makes me love her even more.
Chapter 3
Summary:
Skk meet their fellow students, and class 1-A aren't quite sure what to make of them

Its not gonna be a regular thing, uploading a chapter once a day, cause i definitely wont be able to keep that up, but i am getting into the swing of writing and i really wanted to post this straight away since im getting prouder of my work.
Chapter Text
When the car pulled up outside the school the next morning, (they had slept at a hotel once reaching Musutafu at around midnight), Chuuya and Dazai stopped their bickering, opting instead to look out the windows at the place they would be conducting their mission for the next few weeks. Getting out of the car, Chuuya whistled, staring up at the huge building. "That is one fucking ostentatious school building, it's even more in your face than the mafia buildings back home."
"Ostentatious is a big word for such a small chibi, I'm surprised he knew it" Dazai said, coming round the car to stand at Chuuya's side and looking at the school.
"Fuck off shitty Dazai"
"Anyway yes, I suspect the government throws a rather large amount of money at this school, it is after all the highest rated hero school in Japan. As for being tasteful about it, do you really expect people who go around wearing spandex to have good taste?"
"I suppose not, their costumes are horrendous. I hope Boss doesn't expect us to wear spandex, even for the sake of fitting in, these shitty uniforms are bad enough" Chuuya grumbled.
They had reluctantly put on their new school uniform that morning, only keeping the personal items they refused to part with, choker and gloves for Chuuya and bandages for Dazai. Chuuya had wanted to wear his hat too, but had reluctantly been persuaded by Dazai not to, on the basis that it was an unusual thing for a teenager to wear and could make their cover story of being ordinary teens come into question. Dazai of course had been overjoyed about getting the redhead to part with his beloved hat, and had been teasing him mercilessly about it on the drive from the hotel to the school.
The taller boy giggled, "chibi would probably murder the person who tried to get to wear colourful spandex-"
"Damn right I would"
"-though chibi's fashion sense is also horrible, so it wouldn't make much difference anyway."
"Hey! My fashion sense is great, at least I'm not going round with an entire pharmacy's worth of bandages on me!"
"See slug, that's where you're wrong, bandages are the very height of fashion."
"Yeah, if you're an Ancient Egyptian."
"Ahem" someone cleared their throat, interrupting them. They stopped looking at each other (it was more of a glare on Chuuya's part, whereas Dazai's eyes had been shining gleefully) and turned to see a homeless-looking man standing next to Hirotsu. He sighed, "you two must be the transfer students, yes?" They both nodded and said yes. "Great, come with me, my name is Aizawa, I'm going to be your homeroom teacher. Your bags will be delivered to your dorms for you later, for now you have class, your fellow students are dying to meet you." He turned and headed towards the main building, clearly expecting them to follow after him. They said a quick goodbye to Hirotsu before hurrying after Aizawa, catching up to him when he reached the main doors.
He led them through the corridors, Dazai and Chuuya both memorising the route as they went, and they reached a room with '1-A' written outside the door. Aizawa opened it and went inside, Chuuya and Dazai following behind. They are greeted by the sight of rows of students, some of them looking very strange and inhuman, sitting at desks and staring at them. "These are your new classmates, introduce yourselves," Aizawa said, before going to the corner of the room and getting into a yellow sleeping bag. When he zipped it up and slumped against the wall, he looked somewhat like a strange, giant caterpillar.
Chuuya stepped forward, "my name is Nakahara Chuuya, you can just call me Chuuya, and my ability is For The Tainted Sorrow."
Dazai stepped forward too to stand next to him, "my name is Dazai Osamu, and my ability is No Longer Human." Immediately the class started asking questions, loudly speaking over each other, a cacophony of noise assaulting Chuuya's ears, making it so he couldn't actually make out complete sentences, just a jumble of words, but they calmed down once a boy sat near the front of the class stood up and told them to be quiet, making strange hand gestures as he did so. He turned to them once the class had settled back down and introduced himself.
"I am Tenya Iida, class representative, welcome to our class. I apologise on behalf of my fellow students for their rudeness. Is it alright if we ask some questions regarding your quirks and Yokohama?"
Chuuya shrugged, "sure."
"Then to start, what did you mean 'abilities?"
"Well we don't have quirks, no one in Yokohama does, but a small percentage of the population, including us, have abilities, which are similar to quirks, but generally are stronger, and they aren't genetic like quirks are. No one really knows where they come from but they have been around as long as people can remember, certainly much longer than quirks have, and are kept secret from the general population" Dazai explained.
"Interesting! No one in Yokohama has a quirk? How?" Iida asked.
"Two hundred years ago, when quirks first started appearing, the people that ran Yokohama saw what was happening and decided that they already had enough trouble with ability users, and so they decided to put up the barrier, and developed a vaccine against the quirk gene."
"And what do your abilities do? The names don't really give much of a clue."
Chuuya smirked, "we name them ourselves, so it doesn't have to be anything to do with what kind of ability you have." He grinned, tapping the nearest empty chair and reversing its gravity so that it suddenly fell to the ceiling and lay there, a faint red glow around it. "For The Tainted Sorrow allows me to manipulate the gravity of myself and anything I touch, and I have near perfect control over it" he explains, confidence oozing out of him seeing the students evident awe at his ability.
"Yes yes, chibi is such a show off" Dazai sighs, and pokes Chuuya's shoulder. Instantly the chair clattered back down to the ground, the students near it only narrowly avoiding it falling on them. "As you can see, my ability is nullification, and no ability is immune to it. I don't know if it would work on mutation type quirks though."
"Wow, those are some powerful abilities, especially yours Chuuya-san! Are all abilities as strong as yours?" a green haired boy, who they knew was Midoriya due to the mission information they had read through, asked excitedly.
"Nope, the slug is unique, though there are lots of other strong abilities, none come close to chibi's in strength and versatility." Dazai said, grinning. Hearing his partner praise him like that was rare, and Chuuya willed himself not to blush as he smirked.
"Wow, that's really impressive Chuuya-san!" Midoriya exclaims. He starts muttering to himself about the possibilities of what Chuuya could be capable of, getting out a notebook and occasionally writing in it.
"Please, he's just a dumb extra, and he's small too, I bet I could beat him easily" a blonde, Bakugo, scoffed.
"Hah?! The fuck you say about me?! I could beat the shit out of you without even having to use my ability you fucker!" Chuuya snarled, his gloved hands curling into fists. The class looked at him in surprise, not expecting the petite looking boy to have such an attitude change.
Bakugo stood up "then prove it you damn extra!" Chuuya took half a step forward before Dazai's hand came to rest on his shoulder, the taller boy shaking his head.
"Now now chibi, don't go breaking the children just yet, you can do that when we have combat training."
"Tch, fine."
"There's a good dog" Dazai said, patting him on the head condescendingly.
Chuuya snarled, "I am not your damn dog!", and aimed a roundhouse kick at Dazai's head which the taller boy dodged.
"Enough! No violence in the classroom!" Iida half shouted. The class looked on in shock at what had just happened, before collectively deciding it was probably best just to move on.
"Hey man, are you injured or something? What's with all the bandages?" Kirishima was the first to try to change the subject, but his question had Dazai stiffening ever so slightly, though Chuuya doubted anyone else noticed. Chuuya glared at the other redhead.
"Nope~" Dazai said, "I'm not injured."
"Then why-"
"Mind your own damn business, haven't you ever heard of privacy!" Chuuya spat, knowing that Dazai didn't feel comfortable talking about why he wore them.
"Ah, okay, sorry man, my bad" Kirishima said sheepishly. The class sat there in an awkward silence for a few seconds, before Mina tried to break the tension in the air.
"So what's Yokohama like? Is it really run by villains like everyone says?" she asked, and the students relaxed slightly at her bubbly tone, then even more when Dazai answered her and Chuuya stopped glaring at them all so harshly.
"Yokohama is a good place to live, even those of us who grew up on the streets love our city, it's our home," Dazai said. Chuuya nodded his agreement, having been the one of them who actually grew up on the streets, unlike Dazai who only said that for their cover. "No, it's not run by villains because we don't have villains, just like we don't have heroes there. Instead, the city is protected by the Tripartite Framework, which consists of The Special Division for Unusual Powers, who work in the day and are a branch of the government; the Armed Detective Agency, an independent company who work in the twilight and solve crimes related to ability users that the ordinary police can't handle; and the Port Mafia, who work in the night" Dazai explained.
"Wait, so the mafia helps protect the city?! But they're criminals, why would they help?" Mina asked, confused.
"They want to protect Yokohama just as much as everyone else, they just so happen to be criminals too, and go about protecting it using illegal means. The world isn't black and white, the government can do evil things and criminals can do good things" Chuuya answered.
"The government wouldn't do evil things though, they're the good guys!" Iida exclaimed, outraged at the very idea of it.
Chuuya's hands once again balled into fists. "You dont know what the fuck you're talking about, you think just because they claim to be good and working for the good of the people, then that means its true? Dont be so fucking naive!" he spits, seeing red briefly, before a calming hand came to rest on the small of his back, unseen by the other students but grounding in a way that Chuuya needed in that moment.
"Easy, Chuuya," Dazai muttered, unheard by anyone but him.
"If you don't think the government is good then why are you here exactly?" Iida asked indignantly.
"Dude, just let it go, it's obviously a sensitive subject so just drop it," Mina said to him.
"But-"
"Alright, thats enough, introductions are over now. Present Mic will be in in just a moment for English," Aizawa said from the corner of the room. He unzipped his sleeping bag, walked to the front of the room, and looked at the students as Dazai removed hid hand from Chuuya's back. "Dazai, Nakahara, if you two can go and sit at the two spare desks at the back, you will find the necessary books for your lessons have been placed on them," he said to them, nodding at the desks in question. They nodded, walked to the back of the classroom, and sat down. Aizawa sighed in exhaustion, "behave" he said to the class, and left.
Not a minute after he left, the door opened again, and the pro hero Present Mic walked in and stood before the class. "GOOD MORNING LISTENERS!" he shouted. "I see we have some new faces today, you two must be the transfer students! Dont worry if you dont know any English, I'm sure you will catch up soon enough!"
Dazai grinned, "thank you sir, but you don't need to teach us, chibi and I are both fluent in English, as well as a couple other languages" he said, in perfect English with only a faint hint of a Japanese accent.
Chuuya nudged him, "now who's the show off," he said, also in English, though with a more noticeable accent, smirking. Present Mic and the class looked at them in surprise.
"Where did you learn to speak it so well?" Mic asked them, shocked that two street kids from Yokohama would be fluent in multiple languages.
Dazai just shrugged, "it's a port city, it's easy to pick up other languages when you're surrounded by them constantly, we would get lessons from the sailors in exchange for running errands and the like for them" he said, only half lying. It was true that they both Chuuya and Dazai had picked up a bit of English and other languages that way, but they only managed to learn properly and become fluent after joining the mafia, each of them being taught by their mentors so that they could conduct mafia business in other countries. They both were fluent in English and German, and Chuuya was fluent in French while Dazai was fluent in Russian.
"Well then I suppose you don't need to participate in this lesson, however I'm afraid you do still need to be here" Mic said to them, impressed. They nodded, and sat back to watch the rest of the class have their lesson.
Chapter Text
By the time the bell finally rang for lunch, Chuuya was feeling restless. His foot had been tapping the floor for the better part of an hour and he was itching for something to do, someone to fight. He could feel Arahabaki in his mind, wordlessly calling for blood, for power, for destruction. Usually it would take longer for him to feel like this, the god sealed inside him satiated by the fighting he does on a regular basis for the mafia, and going to the gym when there's no one to fight also helped get rid of some of his restless energy. But the questions earlier had made his thoughts dwell on the past, something he hated doing, making him distracted and causing his mental grip on Arahabaki to loosen slightly. He wouldn't get free, not without Chuuya saying the words needed, but it made him more agitated than usual. He knew that Dazai had noticed, the brunette had been discreetly watching him from the corner of his eye even before his foot had started tapping. When they got up from their desks and followed behind the other students to the lunch hall, he felt Dazai grab his hand, No Longer Human washing over him, silencing the beast inside and soothing his raw edges. They walked in silence for a minute behind everyone else, content to let the class guide them to the cafeteria, before Dazai gave his hand a gentle squeeze and let go, just as they reached a large set of double doors.
The cafeteria was loud, filled with the background buzz of students talking and laughing and eating with one another at the numerous tables set out around the large room. Half of class 1-A headed immediately to various tables, clearly splitting up into friend groups, and the other half lined up to get food, Chuuya and Dazai with them. Now that Dazai had let go of his hand, he could feel Arahabaki again, coiling and twisting in his head, wanting to be let out. Chuuya ignored his classmates asking him if he wanted to sit with them, letting Dazai answer, focusing on shutting out the restless god. By the time the line had gone down and he was buying his food, he had regained a modicum of control. He followed Dazai to one of the tables where their class was sitting and sat down beside him, turning his focus on the food in front of him, shoveling it into his mouth, surprised that it was actually decent.
Dazai poked him "chibi is eating like an animal, what would ane-san say? I guess her etiquette lessons have gone to waste. Not that it's surprising, you are a dog after all."
"Fuck off, I am not a fucking dog!" Chuuya glared at him.
Dazai shook his head in mock exasperation "and talking with your mouth full too, poor ane-san would be devastated if she knew" he sighed. Chuuya kicked him, hard. Dazai yelped. "Chibi is such a brute" he whined, pouting.
Chuuya just flipped him off, before turning away from him and realising they had an audience. The other students sitting at their table were staring at them. "What?" Chuuya asked.
"If you don't mind my asking, who is ane-san?" Iida asked tentatively, clearly not wanting to upset Chuuya again after what happened in the classroom, but also not able to hold back his curiosity.
"Oh, she's kind of like my older sister, though we aren't related," Chuuya explained. He wasn't going to tell them her name, back in Yokohama it was relatively well known that she was mafia, and even though it was unlikely that UA could access information about a Yokohama citizen, if they were able to access information on her, he couldn't have the school know his connection to her, it would run the risk of them realising he was also in the Port Mafia. "She's really into tradition, etiquette, dignity, all that shit, so after I met her she started giving me lessons on how to 'conduct myself like a civilised person'. She is also the most badass woman I have ever met and not someone you want to cross." He smiled, "I owe her a lot, I am truly grateful to have met her. She is my family now, and I would do almost anything for her."
"I can see you truly care for her."
"Yeah, I do," Chuuya said. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Dazai looking at him, his expression carefully blank as he stared at Chuuya. He decided to ignore it, the mackerel obviously wouldn't say what he was thinking in front of the others, he could ask him about it later.
"Hey Chuuya," Ururaka spoke up then, looking at him with excitement, "you said your ability is gravity manipulation, right? My quirk is similar to that! I can touch things and make them have zero gravity, and I can even use it on myself, though I tend to get motion sickness if I do that too much," she said.
"Huh, cool. It's less versatile than my ability, but that's still useful if you use it right. If you want we could spar at some point, I can give you some pointers on how to use your quirk best in a fight, plus it would be cool to train with someone with a quirk similar to my ability," Chuuya said, already looking forward to the prospect.
Ururaka beamed at him, "that would be great! We actually have combat training this afternoon, so we could do it then?"
Chuuya nodded, grinning. "Sounds good." Hopefully training would also help quiet Arahabaki some more, though he doubted any of the class would be able to put up a half decent fight against him, so probably not.
"Oh speaking of similar quirks, Dazai, your ability is almost the same as Aizawa-sensei's quirk, the only difference being that he activates it by looking at the person," Midoriya said.
Dazai tilted his head to one side slightly, "really?" he said, like he didn't already know what Aizawa's quirk was, "I wonder what would happen if we were to use them on each other at the same time. Would they cancel each other out, or would one be stronger than the other. Perhaps a singularity would occur, wouldn't that be interesting."
"A singularity?" Yaoyorozu asked, "what is that?"
"It's where two of the same ability come into contact, and create something different," Dazai explained to her. "It's very rare, abilities themselves aren't actually that common, so the odds of coming across someone with the same one as you are extremely low."
"Wow, that's really interesting! I wonder if Aizawa would be willing to test that out with you? Since abilities are apparently stronger than quirks would that mean that you would nullify him? But perhaps it would be down to the timing, you would have to get it just right in order for you both to activate it at the same time, perhaps if you… " he started muttering, putting one hand on his chin contemplatively.
Ururaka nudged him, " Deku, you're doing it again."
He jolted, "oh, sorry about that, I tend to do that sometimes," he said to Dazai and Chuuya.
Dazai shrugged, "dont worry about it."
Suddenly the bell rang, bringing an end to their conversation and signaling the start of afternoon classes. They head back to class, rejoining the rest of class 1-A as they sit down. "So, are you guys excited for combat training?" asked Kaminari.
Dazai grimaced, "not particularly, that's the slug's area of expertise, my ability isn't exactly combat oriented. I prefer to use my brain than fight, besides I have chibi here to fight for me," he gestured to Chuuya.
Chuuya grinned, cracking his knuckles, "I doubt any of you will be able to put up much of a fight against me, but I'm looking forward to working off some steam anyway."
"How are you so confident in your ability that you think you will beat all of us so easily? How much experience in fighting do you even have, since you haven't been to a hero school before?" questions Iida.
Chuuya shrugged, "I've been using my ability and fighting for as long as I can remember, growing up on the streets since I was a child meant I had to if I wanted to survive. I didn't need anyone to teach me, I did that myself. And it's not just my ability that makes me strong, I'm also a damn good martial artist. Relying on just your ability or quirk is a sure fire way to get into trouble if you come up against someone that can counteract it, and knowing how to fight without it makes fighting with it even more powerful."
" Woah, that's so manly!" Kirishima said.
Before anyone could say anything else, the door to the classroom opened, and All Might strode in. "Everyone, please change into your hero costumes and meet me in the gym. We're doing basic combat training today, since we have new students it will be good to just assess them and see how they are compared to the rest of you." He looked at Chuuya and Dazai, "nice to meet you young Nakahara and Dazai! I am sure you know me already, but in case you don't, I am All Might, the previous number one hero."
Chuuya rolled his eyes, "we know, we aren't cavemen, we have TV back home, everyone knows who you are." All Might looked slightly surprised by his blasé attitude, but moved on quickly enough.
"Well then, that's good. Now, we were told you both have combat experience already, but none of the teachers have actually seen you fight. I was hoping you could use this lesson to demonstrate your capabilities, so the class and I can see what you can do."
Chuuya nodded, "sure, we can do that."
Dazai waved his hand at their teacher, "my ability isn't exactly helpful in combat, but if you give me a gun I can demonstrate my shooting," he said.
All Might looked stunned, "give a student a gun, young Dazai I am afraid I cannot do that, guns are illegal and dangerous weapons! You should not know how to use one at your age!"
Dazai just shrugged, "okay then, but in that case I wont be able to do much in combat."
Chuuya kicked his chair leg, "hey mackerel don't sell yourself short, you might not be anywhere as good as me but you're not that bad, you can hold your own in a fight when you have to."
Dazai gazed at him, eyes wide and sparkling with exaggerated awe, hands reaching out and clasping Chuuya's , "does chibi really mean that? He must really love me to give me such a compliment!" Chuuya gave him a look of disgust that didn't quite hide the slight pink his cheeks had become.
"Ew fuck no, why would I ever love you ," he said. He decidedly ignored the part of him that said the opposite, he did not want to think about what that might mean right now.
All Might spoke again before Dazai had the chance to respond, electing to ignore their strange interactions with each other, used to the weirdness of teenagers by now, even if these two did seem a bit more odd than even class 1-A. He was just relieved the conversation had moved away from the idea of giving a student a gun. "Well then class, if you would show Nakahara and Dazai the way, I will meet you all in the gym once you've got changed into your hero costumes. Young Dazai and Nakahara, you have both been assigned lockers, your hero costumes are waiting in them for you."
The class responded affirmations, and headed towards the changing rooms, Chuuya and Dazai with them.
When they entered the changing room, they looked around until they found the lockers they had been given, side by side, and opened them to discover that they, thankfully, hadn't been given any spandex like they had feared Mori would give them for his own amusement.
Instead, Mori had sent Chuuya an outfit he had had his eye on for some time which he quickly changed into. It consisted of a white button-up shirt under a dark red vest, a black ribbon bolo tie held together with a small silver buckle, an open black cropped jacket with the sleeves rolled up at the elbows, black slacks, a black belt hanging off his right hip and black low-arch shoes. On his shoulders, like a cape, he hangs a black coat with light-colored lining and lapels. The undercoat is a light shade of red. To finish off the look, he has his choker and gloves, and his hat, which Hirotsu had blessedly dropped off for him. He wondered how Mori had known that he wanted these clothes, he hadn't told anyone about them. Unless? He looked over at Dazai. Nah, couldn't be, he thought. Shitty Dazai always makes fun of my fashion, no way he would go out of his way to get me clothes I want.
Speaking of Dazai, he looking at his usual mafia outfit, which was hanging in his locker, and though it wouldn't be noticeable by anyone else, Chuuya could tell he was uncomfortable changing in front of everyone. He didn't like others to see how much he was bandaged, Chuuya knew, and right now all the other boys were watching him, some more subtle, others outright staring, all of them clearly wondering about the bandages. He glared daggers at them, "disrespectfully, all of you should fuck off and stop staring!" he snarled. "Clearly they don't teach you any manners at this school, because back home, staring at someone when they're changing is fucking rude!"
They all looked away, muttering apologies as they started leaving the room. Dazai glanced at him, "chibi didn't have to do that," he said.
"I know I didn't, but they were pissing me off," Chuuya shrugged. "Get changed mackerel, I'll wait outside,"he said, heading towards the door.
"Okay slug."
Looking back briefly, he saw a small smile grace Dazai's face, before he turned away to get changed, and Chuuya left the room.
Notes:
Yes, Chuuyas 'hero costume' is literally just the clothes he wears when he is 22, and yes, i did just copy the description from the bsd wiki
Chapter Text
After Dazai had finished changing, he and Chuuya joined the rest of the class in the gym. They definitely stood out from the others in what they were wearing, evidently most heroes-in-training didn't choose suits as their hero costumes.
"Hey, um, no offense guys, but those are kind of unusual hero costumes, you look more like you're in the mafia or something," Kaminari said.
Chuuya chuckled, "None taken. Most people back home have quite different ideas of what's fashionable than you Musutafu guys do."
"Not that the hatrack here knows what fashion is, his clothes are terrible and he wears a tacky hat," Dazai smirked.
"Oi you bandage wasting fucker, my clothes are great, and my hat is not tacky!"
"Okay, now that we're all here," All Might cut in, "let me explain how this is going to work. In order to see how you two are in terms of fighting, I think it would be best if you spared with a pair of students chosen randomly. Any objections?"
"Nope~" Dazai said.
"Doesn't matter who is chosen, I could beat any of you," Chuuya shrugged.
"Hah?! No way you could beat me you fucking extra! Bring it on, I'll show you!" Bakugo yelled, sparks coming from his hands.
Chuuya grinned, "actually All Might, I don't want it to be random, I want to fight this fucker. Dazai can do whatever he likes, but this guy is mine."
All Might looked at Dazai, who just shrugged, "I don't mind, I'll go against someone random."
All Might nodded, "all right then. Young Bakugo and Young Nakahara, you will go first. If you head over there," he pointed to the middle of the gym, "the rest of the class will watch from the side here. Are you ready?"
"Fuck yeah I'm ready," Chuuya smirked.
"You're going down, you damn extra!" Bakugo snarled.
They both stood in the middle of the room, the class standing aside to watch, next to one of the walls, out of the way of the fight about to take place. "Try not to break him beyond repair chibi, Mori would be disappointed if we got expelled because of your inability to control yourself during a fight," Dazai called out to him. The rest of the students looked rather disconcerted at that.
"Fuck off shitty Dazai, I know!" Chuuya said, flipping him off with one gloved hand.
"Dazai-san, who is this Mori?" Yaoyorozu asked.
"Oh, he's our guardian, sort of," Dazai replied, just as All Might gave the signal to start.
Dazai watched as Bakugo immediately launched himself at Chuuya, who leapt into the air, avoiding Bakugo as he thrust his hands forward to create explosions where Chuuya had just been standing. Chuuya quickly made himself much heavier, creating a crater beneath himself as he landed behind Bakugo, and kicked him before he had a chance to turn back around to face him. Bakugo flew through the air, hitting the wall on the opposite side of where the rest of the class were watching, and Chuuya strode over to him, his ability holding Bakugo in place against the wall. Chuuya let Bakugo fall to the floor, and before he had a chance to get back up, placed his foot on his back, increasing his weight so that Bakugo had no chance of retaliation and was groaning in pain. The whole thing was over in around 30 seconds, and Dazai smirked slightly, no one would be able to beat his chibi, least of all a cocky brat who didn't know what he was up against. The class was staring at Chuuya, they had never seen Bakugo defeated so quickly and easily.
"Well that was fucking easy, I was hoping to actually enjoy this, what a disappointment" Chuuya said, clicking his tongue in annoyance.
"Fuck you" Bakugo managed to say, his teeth clenched against the pain he was obviously in.
Chuuya removed his foot from Bakugo's back as All Might walked over to them. "Impressive Young Nakahara, you certainly weren't exaggerating your skill in fighting."
Chuuya grinned, "course I wasn't. Hey, how about I go up against the whole class, that would give me a chance to really show off my capabilities."
"Well, if you're sure you can handle it, then I don't see any harm in it." All might turned to the rest of the class, and began handing out handcuffs to the students. "The goal will be to try and place the cuffs on Nakahara. Young Dazai, would you like to participate in this?"
Dazai shook his head, "I'll just sit this one out All Might sensei, like I said, fighting isn't my strong suit, at least not without a weapon. I can show off my ability later."
All Might nodded, "in that case, if everyone is ready, you may begin!"
The class rushed at Chuuya, and Dazai watched as his chibi absolutely destroyed them. No matter how many times he watched Chuuya fight, he never stopped being awestruck. Chuuya was destruction personified, a calamitous being that reveled in fighting and blood and death, a god sent down from the heavens to bring humanity to its knees. Dazai would follow him to the ends of the earth, if only to watch him destroy it. Not that he would ever let Chuuya know this of course.
By the time the fight was over, the gym was ruined. Pieces of the floor were scattered throughout the room, and the students were sitting and laying around, exhausted. Despite the state of the room, no one had worse injuries than bruises or a few cuts, maybe one or two of them would have a concussion, but nothing serious or permanent. Chuuya had known that the school nurse wasn't a miracle worker, only sped up the natural healing of a person, and had held back, not wanting anyone to truly be hurt. Chuuya himself wasn't completely uninjured, small scrapes and cuts on him, he had essentially handicapped himself by not wanting to hurt anyone too much, making defeating the entire class harder for himself, and it showed in the tiredness of his limbs as he leant against a wall.
All Might was clearly stunned, having not expected Chuuya to actually beat the entire class of future heroes. His face betrayed a glimmer of fear, realising just how strong Chuuya really was, and knowing that he was a loose cannon from Yokohama, without any real desire to be a hero, only here temporarily for the cultural exchange scheme. He grinned at Chuuya to hide his slight nervousness, "Wow, that was incredible Young Nakahara, you are obviously extremely strong, and you must have a lot of experience. Not only do you have excellent control over your ability, but you are also clearly trained in martial arts. You are an incredible fighter, and you would make a great hero if you chose to pursue that after your time here at UA."
Chuuya grinned. "Thanks, I'll think about it," he lied. His blood was mafia black through and through, he would never consider being a hero. He pushed off from the wall, walking over to stand beside Dazai.
"Better?" Dazai murmured.
Chuuya gave a tiny nod, "yeah, he's quiet now." He leant against Dazai slightly, their shoulders pressed against each other, and let out a sigh. "Fuck, making sure not to actually hurt anyone was hard, it's much easier just killing people," he said quietly.
Dazai patted his head gently, "well done chibi, you managed to actually restrain yourself, good dog," he said, grinning.
Chuuya batted his hand away. "I'm not your fucking dog Dazai," he growled.
"Well then, I'm afraid, young Dazai," All Might said, "that we will have to wait till the next lesson to see how you fair in a fight. A few of your fellow students have to visit the nurse now, nothing major don't worry, just to speed up their healing, and so the school day is over now that hero training is complete for the day. The rest of the class will show you to the dormitory where you will be living with them. I have been informed that your bags have already been taken to your rooms." He started helping the couple of students that needed to visit the nurse up, and led them to the door. "If you will excuse us, I will be taking your peers to the nurse now. Take care everyone, I will see you all tomorrow." With that, he left, taking the couple of students with him.
The rest of the class had gotten to their feet in the meantime, and now they headed towards the door themselves, a few of them stopping to tell Chuuya how impressed they were, most of them just too tired and dejected to talk after being beaten by one person their own age. Dazai and Chuuya followed, Chuuya still leant on Dazai's shoulder, bickering lightheartedly as they went.

Chapter Text
As soon as they entered the dorms, Chuuya went straight to the couches, sitting down on one with a sigh. The fight with the class had taken more out of him than he had expected, these kids were strong, yeah they were nowhere near his level but they were still good at using their quirks, and having to hold himself back had taken more concentration and effort than he usually needed to do. All he really wanted to do now is relax with a nice glass of wine. What he didn't want was to still be surrounded by teenagers, who were all too loud and still full of questions. The questions now were mostly about how he managed to defeat the entire class, to which he just gave a vague answer about being lucky to have a strong ability, before Dazai sat down next to him and handed him a note, written in handwriting he recognised as Hirotsu's, stating that their rooms were on the 4th floor and their bags were already in them.
He stood up and headed for the stairs, Dazai walking beside him. One of their classmates asked if they needed a guide to their rooms, to which he shook his head and said that they could find their own way. They found their rooms quickly, they had been given ones next to each other. Chuuya entered his room, not caring if Dazai followed him or went into his own room, and promptly collapsed face first on the bed with a groan.
"Aww, is the hatrack tired after having to interact with people his own age?"
Ugh, great, he did follow me in.
"Fuck off, it has been a long fucking day and you weren't the one who fought the entire class. Also, they aren't the same age, they're 15."
"Oh that's right, chibi is so small he must be younger than them, not a teenager at all." Chuuya growled and grabbed a pillow, throwing it blindly behind him, pleased to hear a soft oof letting him know his aim had been accurate. "Slug is so violent, did he not manage to get out all his rage on the students earlier when he beat them to a pulp?" He felt the bed dip as Dazai sat down next to him.
"I didn't beat them to a pulp, they were fine, none of them were badly injured." He sat up and went over to where his bag had been placed next to the wardrobe. "Now kindly fuck off so I can unpack my shit."
"Hmm, nope~"
"Ugh, fine, whatever." Sighing, he started putting his clothes away, along with his laptop, and a couple of knives he had brought, hiding them in his folded clothes and one under his pillow, knowing that the school didn't allow weapons like that. No doubt Dazai had also managed to smuggle his gun onto campus. He quickly changed into his normal clothes, wanting to be rid of the hideous uniform, turned away from Dazai but not really caring that he was in the room. When he turned back around, he thought he saw a slight blush on Dazai's cheeks, but chalked the pink tinge up to the lighting in the room. They had gotten changed in front of each other before, hell just recently in the changing room, so he didn't see any reason for Dazai to blush now of all times.
"I'm heading downstairs to grab some food, you coming mackerel?" His stomach growled embarrassingly as he headed towards the door, not waiting to see if Dazai would follow. He heard him snicker at the sound of his stomach, before footsteps followed him.
"Sure slug, I would be a bad owner if I let my dog around the children unsupervised, he might bite them"
"Oh fuck off, you're the one who doesn't know how to interact with people your own age. And stop with the dog thing!"
"But chibi, I won the bet remember! You're my dog for life! You even wear a dog collar to show you have an owner." He could practically hear Dazai smirking behind him, and he bristled.
"It isn't a fucking dog collar, it's a choker, and you know damn well why I wear it so fuck off!" he snapped at him.
Dazai grabbed his hand and squeezed before letting go again, a silent apology in the gesture, before ruining it with a snicker, "Chibi didn't deny being my dog for life though, so I guess that means he accepts it~"
"Fuck no, I am not your damn dog!"
They reached the kitchen area, and Chuuya started looking through cupboards and the fridge for something to eat. Dazai flopped himself over his back, and had started complaining loudly about the lack of tinned crab in the kitchen.
"Hey guys," he turned around to see Hagakure (or more accurately, her clothes, it's kinda hard to see an invisible person, and wasn't that weird, seeing floating clothes like that) standing next to the counter looking at them, "the rest of us were about to order Chinese takeaway, we wondered if you wanted to join us?
"That," Chuuya said, grinning, "sounds amazing. Fuck if I can be bothered to cook right now, and it's not like this lanky bastard knows how to cook anything edible."
"Great! Come and tell us what you want, we'll add it to the order. Also, we were thinking of playing a game of uno, if you guys wanna join in?"
"Sure, sounds like fun. C'mon mackerel, get off, you can get crab soup or something."
Dazai had perked up when Hagakure had mentioned playing a game. He was grinning and no doubt already planning multiple strategies to win, he had that glint in his eye that often showed when he was thinking about messing with Chuuya. "Prepare to lose chibi~"
"Hah?! Like I'd lose to you you shitty Dazai! Bring it on!"
They joined the rest of the class and ordered their dinner, before sitting down and playing a game of uno. No one asked any more personal questions of Chuuya or Dazai, and Chuuya gradually found himself relaxing and enjoying himself, helped in part by the glass of wine he had retrieved from his room (when asked, he said that it was merely grape juice, and though a couple of students looked skeptical, for the most part they believed him). The game dragged on well into the evening, with lots of arguments and shouting from the more volatile students. The table eventually got thrown at the wall, courtesy of Dazai making a tipsy Chuuya have to draw 15 cards, scattering the cards everywhere and breaking two of the table legs in half. Needless to say, uno was banned after that night.
When it got to nearly 1am, the students that were still up said their goodnights, and headed up to bed. Chuuya and Dazai went upstairs, Dazai retreating into his room, and Chuuya grabbing the rest of the bottle of wine and a pack of cigarettes and lighter, before using Tainted Sorrow to go out the window and up onto the roof.
As he sat there, a lit cigarette in one hand and the bottle of wine in the other, his legs dangling over the edge, he thought almost jealously of the naivety of the students. Of their blind trust in the government and 'good'. They may have been training to be heroes, and they may have had interactions and fights with villains, but none of them had ever seen true suffering. None of them had ever been betrayed by the people they called family. None of them had seen the mutilated bodies of their friends. None of them had ever questioned whether they were even human.
He brought a hand up to his choker, brushing his fingers over the spot where it covered the tattoo on the side of his neck. A5158. That accursed number branding him as government property. It had only been a few months since the fight with Verlaine and flag's deaths, and the guilt he now felt over having fun without them, along with the knowledge that he may just be a clone created to house a god, swirled in his stomach, mixing with the wine and making him feel nauseous.
He didn't know how long he sat there, but eventually he felt long, bandaged arms wrap around him, and a head rest on top of his own. "Chibi is thinking too much, his brain will shrink even more than it already has." He didn't question how Dazai knew where he had gone, his partner was used to finding him on rooftops when he wanted to think. "C'mon chibi, it's bedtime, dogs need their sleep."
Chuuya scowled at Dazai's wording, grumbling about not being a dog and his brain not shrinking, and stood up, stumbling slightly before grabbing onto Dazai. He let him guide him back downstairs to his room. He kicked off his shoes and changed into his pyjamas, before crawling into bed. Dazai left the room briefly, before he returned in his own pyjamas and lay down beside him just like they often did at home, Dazai frequently sleeping over at Chuuya's instead of his own place. The single bed didn't provide much space for the two of them to spread out, but they didn't want to anyway. Chuuya cuddled up to his partner, the warm presence soothing him, and Dazai rested his head on his chest, throwing an arm over him, and sighed in contentment.
"G'night slug"
"G'night mackerel"
