Erin was furious.
"What were you thinking-"
Falst sighed. "Look, I said it was fine."
"Fine? How many times have you broken that arm today?"
They continued arguing as they went back to where Tess was waiting. She looked at them expectantly, but they were too busy fighting to notice her.
Erin wasn't done talking.
"Falst, if you keep on recklessly endangering yourself, someday there won't be anybody to save you. Dainix says you were lucky to get out of there with your arm intact."
Falst rolled his eyes.
"Dainix is lucky he got out of there with his body intact, and I said it was fine. Now will you leave me alone?"
The two had reached the clearing by this point, and sat down opposite to each other.
Erin sighed.
"Yes, fine, I'll leave you to brood, just let me heal your arm."
Falst stiffened.
"No."
"What do you mean, no?" said Erin. "Your arm is a mess!"
"Why can't Alinua do it?" Falst said defensively.
"Alinua is fast asleep, and if I try to wake her up, Tess will kill me. And I won't hurt you! It won't take that long-"
Falst growled.
"I said no. I'll wait until the morning."
Erin was getting impatient."Falst, this is ridiculous-"
"I'm not going to do this-"
"We don't have time for you to do th-"
"I said NO-"
"I won't do anything-"
Falst snapped. A sudden swipe of sharp, desperate claws, with Erin barely managing to dodge the attack.
He stood there, speechless.
"..."
"Falst."
Falst stiffened.
"I don't want anybody to perform magic on me."
Erin's gaze softened.
"Okay."
Falst looked up."Okay?" He said, surprised.
"If you don't want me to heal your arm, I won't force you to do anything you don't want to. I have some medical supplies in my bag, or you could just wait till tomorrow morning. Your arm requires medical attention, but it can wait if it needs to." Erin said calmly.
Falst fell quiet for a few minutes, as Erin tended the fire.
"...What specifically would you do?"
Erin lit up.
"Oh! Um, well first I would just perform a basic scan to check the damage, you wouldn't feel anything, then, well, I would heal the damaged parts. It would take a few minutes, and it might not be perfect, but it should help.
…Do you want me to do it?" He asked hesitantly.
Falst let out a quiet sigh.
"Yes."
Erin awkwardly shuffled over to Falst, and started the process. Bright green magic lit up Falst's tired face as Erin did the scan.
Erin looked rather relieved, as he started talking.
"Okay, It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Your radius has a fracture, but it seems most of your arm is alright.
Now, healing bone shouldn't be too painful if it's done right, but it can still hurt. If it's too much at any point, tell me. If you aren't sure about this, we can stop and wait for Alinua to wake up."
They fell quiet for a second.
"Are you sure about this?" Erin asked, uncharacteristically quiet.
Falst looked uncertain, but hesitantly nodded. Erin nodded back.
Erin rolled up his sleeves, and touched a rune near his wrist. It glowed a faint green, and he touched Falst's forearm. Immediately, Falst winced, and Erin automatically pulled his fingers back. Falst slowly took a deep breath, then weakly gestured for him to continue. Erin looked nervous, but hesitantly started healing him.
It was awkward, but not as awkward as it could have been.It was painful, but not as painful as it could have been. Falst fought the urge to pull his arm away, and Erin quietly went through his well practiced steps as the fracture slowly healed. When it was done, Falst immediately jerked his arm back, and Erin went back to where he was sitting.
"...Thank you." Falst murmured.
It wasn't much, but neither of them had ever been very good at thanking other people.
