Chapter Text
Leia felt light as a feather. Her head was clear as day, she felt at peace. Leia’s never experienced this type of feeling before. Yeah, something was off.
Eyes fluttering open, The sunshine was so bright, that would blind a person, didn’t appear to brother Leia at all.
It had only taken Leia a few seconds to realize she wasn’t in her room. Unlike her bed which had a Lilac comforter, and gray bed sheets. The bed she was currently laying in, is pure white. And the walls weren’t colorful like she had back at home. No, these walls are plain beige.
Sliding off the bed to observe her surroundings, Leia noticed right away that her overalls that she had on earlier had been replaced with a flowy white dress that reached her slightly below her knee.
“What in the world?” Leia whispered to herself, pitching at the fabric of the dress.
Leia's breathing suddenly became uneven. Did someone kidnap her? No, she shook her head, that couldn't be possible. Why would a kidnapper leave the front door open?
Peeking outside, Big beautiful mountains, with breathtaking waterfalls met the girls' bewildered eyes. Leia automatically knew she wasn’t in Point Place.
She was about to step outside, until she heard the voice of an unknown male. “Good, you're awake.”
“Who are you?” Leia asked, trying her best to sound stoic and non intimated as possible.
“I’m an angel.” He responded.
Leia suspiciously eyed the man who had dark brown hair, and appears to be overweight, wearing a cream-colored suit. “An angel? Yeah right.” Leia snorted.
“Well, it looks like you have the same attitude as your father.” The angel observed, sounding a little annoyed.
“Huh?” Leia raised a single eyebrow.
“Nevermind.” He dismissed her.
“What’s going on? How’d I get here?” Leia stuttered, feeling uncomfortable being in a room with a middle-aged man who she’s never met before.
“You don’t remember?” He says shocked, at the girl who was now standing inches from him.
“No.” Leia shook her head.
He narrowed his eyes at the timid girl, and said, “Think hard.”
“I got into a fight with Jay,” Leia recounted, frowning at the memory of Jay’s hurt expression. “And then I got into the car with Nate.” Leia recalled “And…” Still thinking back as hard as she could. The pain, the yelling, the flashing lights, and the sirens. Then it all came back. “Oh, my God, we were hit!”
“Indeed you were.” He nodded, giving her a sympathetic smile.
No. This couldn’t be happening.
“Is he okay? Please tell me Nate’s okay.” Leia chewed her fingernails in fear.
“Your friend is fine,” The angel answers. “Injured. But he’ll live. You on the other hand… you weren’t so lucky.”
Taking a step back, Leia’s lower lip trembled and asked. “Am I dead?”
“No,” He answered, pitying Leia's look of relief. “At least not yet.”
“What does that mean?” This time, Leia sounded more frustrated than scared.
“Consider this a test. You pass, you live. You fail….” He paused for a moment. “Well, you know.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Leia spat.
“Language,” The angel scolded. “You’re already near death, do you wanna make it worse by taking a trip downstairs?”
“Please just answer my question.” Leia said firmly.
“I’m talking about your life being on the line.” He said.
“I get that,” Leia crossed her arms over her chest. “Please explain to me what this test is.”
“Come with me, and I’ll show you.” He offered his hand.
Giving the angel a long hard look, Leia reluctantly took the hand offered to her
-The Forman Drive Way 1978-
With in a flash Leia found herself back in her grandparents driveway. Except something felt different.
She saw two teens sitting on the hood of the Vista Cruiser.
Leia’s brow furrowed. Was that her parents? Why was the angel showing Leia her teenage parents? And most importantly, why was her mom crying?
“Are you breaking up with me? Donna's voice was wobbly.
“Well, are you giving back that ring?”
“Yes.”
What the fuck?
“Then... yes.” Eric voice sounded ice cold, but on the inside he felt like dying.
Donna’s eyes become watery as she places the ring on the hood of the vista cruiser. She meets Eric’s gaze one last time before walking away.
“I don’t understand?” Leia turned to the man giving a confused look.
“What’s not to get? You have to show your father it wasn’t a mistake that he kissed your mother.”
“This doesn’t make any sense,” She threw her hands in the air, at the ridiculousness of this whole situation. “They got married; they had me.”
The man shrugged off the girl's little outburst and said, “You could call this a time loop.”
“What am I supposed to say? Hey, I’m your daughter from the future.” Leia said sarcastically.
“No, of course not. He’ll never believe that.” The stranger sounded offended that Leia would suggest that he’s dimwitted enough to believe that would work.
“Look, your job isn’t even that hard. All you have to do is show your father that he has an awful future he has in store.”
“Great, so I’m the ghost of Christmas future.” Leia laughed bitterly.
“In a way, yes. Yes you are.”
“Well, what if I can’t convince him? Then what?” Leia asked.
“Then I’m afraid your time on earth is going to be cut short.” The man sighed, ignoring how Leia’s face completely fell at his answer.
“No, I can’t,” Tears fell from Leia’s eyes. “My friends, my family. I can’t leave them.”
“Then you better pray you succeed.” The stranger spoke in a deadly serious tone.
“No. This is a dream, I’m dreaming.” Leia pinched herself, but she felt nothing
“Don’t bother,” The stranger rolled his eyes at Leia’s attempts to wake up. “There is no pain here.”
“Send me back.” Leia demanded, now in his face.
“I’m afraid that’s not possible. You can’t walk away from this.”
“Fine, I’ll do it.” Leia said with determined eyes.
