Chapter Text
They know.
The rain pelted harder as Newtgat quickly stumbled through the passing piñatas, looking back at any moment. He was gripping something to his chest, something he needed and they wanted. In the distance he barely could see two Chippopotamuses, shouting his name and looking through the piñatas. The Newtgat could have blended into the crowd, if he was any other piñata. His only hope now was to out run the two and find the base fast. What he would do after that is undecided. The mask he wore made it hard to breathe and see, but the rain pelting his paper mâché gave him the energy to keep going.
I can’t stop now. Not when I’m so close. I am their only hope. They’ll all die if I don’t do this.
Slipping through puddles, hopping over Mousemallows, looking behind him at any given moment. The Newtgat was breathing heavily, he was straining all his muscles but the rain made it more bearable. He constantly checked if he had the card, the item he needed if this plan was to work. Everyone was counting on him, for him to free them from this dictatorship. The Chippopotamuses were closing in, they could see the Newtgat’s brightly colored paper mâché. The pink piñata ran as fast as his little legs could. He slid under the arms of piñatas, reaching to grab the little thief. The puddles building up made it quite easy for the aquatic piñata.
I’m almost there. Just beyond those buildings. I can lose them in the woods.
All of a sudden, the Newtgat got a sudden burst of speed. He had to do this, he knew he had to. Determination filled his candy, the rain fell harder than ever before. Even with his brightly colored paper, the rain was too hard for the Chipoptumuses to even see him. The item tightly clutched to his chest, his mask sweating with rainwater, his eyes strained with will power. As he ran he could see a red silhouette in the distance, standing between the buildings.
Is that, Posha?
It was! His friend was here for backup. The Newtgat smiled happily, he could actually do this! Until, a piñata patrol grabbed his makeshift tail, stopping the pink piñata and him letting go of his card. He and his friend’s eyes flashed in horror. He was almost there.
