Work Text:
“Daddy, help!”
Hope was having an emergency… or so she thought.
“What is it, Hope?” Hank groaned, as his tired old legs carried him to Hope’s room.
“I can’t find anything to wear for the Avengers’s’ party tonight!”
“What about all those fancy dresses you have?”
“None of them match with my cast!” Hope wailed.
“Well, it’s not my fault that you broke your leg.”
“Can you drive me to the mall, so that I can buy more dresses?” Hope asked. “Please, please, please?”
“No.”
“WHY NOT?!”
“Because I’m busy.”
“With what?” Hope asked, angrily crossing her arms.
“I… uh… was about to visit Scott for no reason,” Hank said. “Bye.”
Hope screamed in frustration as Hank left.
Later that day, Cassie came home from school.
“Daddy, I’m home.”
“Hi, Peanut,” said Scott. “How was school?”
“Good, I guess.”
“Hello, Cassie!” Hank said.
Cassie walked away without saying anything to him.
“Hey, that was rude!” Hank said. “She just ignored me.”
“Well, that’s just how she is,” Scott said. “Anyways, how is Hope doing?”
“Uh… well… why do you ask?”
“Because!” Scott said. “I haven’t seen her, or heard from her in weeks.”
“Well, that’s because she broke her leg.”
“Oh, no! Scott said. “Can I come visit?”
“NO!”
“Aww… why not?” Scott asked.
“Because her leg is broken!” Hank said. “She wouldn’t want you seeing her like that.”
“Oh, okay,” Scott said.
Screw you, Hank! I’ll do what I want! I'm gonna visit Hope, anyways!
Meanwhile, Janet was trying to help Hope.
“Would you like to borrow one of my dresses?”
“NO!” Hope screamed. “I don’t want to wear your stinky old lady dress!”
“Why are you being so grouchy? I just wanted to help…”
“Because my leg is broken!” Hope snapped. “How am I supposed to enjoy my summer with a broken leg?”
“Your leg will be healed soon,” Janet said. “And there are still lots of things you can do while you wait.”
“I can’t kick people!”
“Kicking people isn’t nice, Hope.”
“It’s my favorite thing to do!”
The next day, Scott somehow snuck into Hope’s room.
“Hey, Hope!”
Hope started screaming.
“What’s wrong?” Scott asked. “Aren’t you happy to see me?”
Hope screamed louder.
“DADDY! SCOTT IS IN MY ROOM!”
“Oh, no!” Hank said. “But I told him not to visit!”
He began walking towards Hope’s room.
“Don’t worry. I’m coming to save you.”
“Uh-oh!” Scott said, hiding under Hope’s bed.
Hank came in and searched the room. He didn’t search under the bed. That’s because he was old, and it hurt to bend over.
“I don’t see him…”
“B-b-but… he was right here…”
“Go to sleep, Hope.”
“Okay, Daddy…”
Hope cried herself to sleep.
A week later, Hope called Scott for some reason.
“Hey, Scott!”
“Hey, Hope. What’s up? It’s been a while since you called me.”
“I know, I know. And I miss you! We should meet up again.”
“Ooh, really?” Scott squealed.
“Yeah!” Hope said. “Wanna go to The Restaurant for lunch tomorrow?”
“Of course!” Scott said. “The Restaurant is my favorite restaurant!”
“Okay, see you there.”
Hope hung up.
“Oh, no!” Scott said. “I didn’t even ask her if her leg was still broken.”
He thought about this for a while.
“I’m sure it’s not. After all, how can she go to The Restaurant if she has a broken leg?”
The next day, Scott nervously entered The Restaurant.
Hope waved when she saw him.
“Hey! Good to see you!”
Scott approached the table, but his heart dropped when he saw a pair of crutches next to Hope.
“Whats wrong?” Hope asked. “Why are you all sweaty?”
“Huh?” Scott said. “N-n-nothing’s wrong!”
“Well, then!” Hope said. “Sit down! We have a lot of catching up to do!”
After Scott sat down, Hope kept trying to start a conversation with him.
“Scott, are you sure everything’s okay? You sure nothing’s wrong?” she asked, as he remained quiet.
“Well… I…uhh… umm…” Scott said. “I need to use the restroom!”
Scott was gone for a very long time.
He stared into the mirror, shaking and breathing heavily.
“I can’t believe it. Her leg is still broken. How can I even look at her, when she has a cast?”
Suddenly, Hank entered the restroom.
Oh, shoot! What is he doing here? Scott panicked, before running to hide in one of the stalls.
“Was that Scott?” Hank wondered aloud.
Scott loudly made fake farting noises.
“Yuck,” Hank said.
After Hank was gone, Scott left the bathroom and went home.
He began cleaning his house, trying to take his mind off of things.
Then, he found a pair of glasses.
“Huh? Where did these come from?”
“I think Hope left them here,” Cassie said.
“Oh, I see,” Scott said. “I didn’t even know she had glasses.”
“Really?” Cassie said. “I see her wearing them all the time.”
“And why exactly were you spending time with Hope?”
“That’s not important,” Cassie said. “Anyways, aren’t you gonna return those to her?”
“I don’t know,” Scott said. “Maybe…”
“You can’t keep them!” Cassie nagged. “That’s stealing, and stealing is wrong!”
“I know, I know…”
“You’ve gotta return them!” Cassie continued. “It’s the right thing to do!”
“Okay, okay!” Scott said. “I’ll return them tomorrow, alright?”
“Yay!”
The next day, Scott went to Hope’s door and rang the doorbell.
Cassie was with him for some reason.
“Maybe she won’t answer…” Scott said, hopefully.
Hank answered the door, and Scott immediately began screaming.
“Oh. Hello, Scott. Are you feeling better today?”
“Huh?” Scott asked. “What do you mean?”
“I heard you having explosive diarrhea at The Restaurant.”
“Gross!” Cassie said.
“Why are you here?” Hank asked Scott. “What do you want?”
“He’s here to see Hope!” Cassie said.
“Oh, I see,” Hank said, turning around. “Hope! Scott is here!”
“Oh, no. No, no, no…” Scott said.
He waited a long time, but Hope did not appear.
“Well, maybe she’s not coming…” Cassie said.
“I sure hope not!” Scott said.
“Give her some time,” Hank said. “After all, her leg is broken.”
Scott heard crutches clacking against the floor, and he started screaming again.
Hope sighed.
“Scott, what do you want?”
“Tell her, Daddy!” Cassie said, turning to smile at her stammering father.
Scott dropped the glasses onto the ground, and then ran away.
“WHAT THE HELL, SCOTT?!” Hope yelled.
The End!
