Work Text:
'Another day, another gil' Is what most people would say when they wake up begrudgingly for work. Or 'money makes the world go round'. Or some other shit that would make them get off their ass.
For Cloud, it was his boyfriend calling him nonstop.

His touchscreen phone vibrated against the dresser. It shifted constantly and moved dangerously close to the edge of the dresser, lit up with Zack's dumb selfie on it with the name "
Zack
" above his picture. With how close it was to the edge versus where it was next to the lamp, Zack called for who knows how long and how many times.
It was pissing him off.
And with how Cloud grabbed the phone and brought it to his ear, the force alone could have cracked the screen.
"What?"
"Rise and shine~" the ex-SOLDIER sang, ignoring Cloud's tense voice. "We got some money makin' to do!"
"Fuck..." Cloud murmured. His eyes were still closed and his head was on the pillow. "It's too early for this."
"Oh don't be like that, Cloud!" He could hear the whine coming from his boyfriend's voice. "Monsters don't care what time it is. They're gonna do whatever they want, including hurting people!"
"I bet they're fucking asleep as they should be."
"Alright, maybe, but you know some people want some things done! And why not do it early so you can sleep more!"
God. It didn't matter what he said it was going to be met with a counterargument. And Cloud was too tired to tell Zack anything but to "Fuck off" - which he wouldn't do.
For the love of…
"Fine. I'm up." Cloud slowly sat up from the bed. His hair wasn't bothered by his sleeping and he didn't look tired, but he felt like he was hit by Sephiroth five times already. "I'll take a shower, eat, then help Sector 2 with whatever they need. Happy?"
"Very!" He heard the ex-SOLDIER grin. "I'll call you at 0830 just to be sure you didn't fall back asleep! Love you, Cloudy!"
".... Yeah, love you too."
"Awe! You said it back today-!"
"I take it back." Cloud groaned. "You're getting on my nerves."
"Noooo," Zack whined. The blonde scoffed. "You can't! No take-backsies!"
"Whatever it takes."
"You're mean to me, your own boyfriend?!" He heard a fake whimper. Cloud chuckled. "How could you?!"
"Just be glad I didn't hang up on you."
"Ouch," Zack sucked on his teeth. "Man, you are mean when you wake up. But that's alright! Still gonna call ya!"
"Whatever," Cloud rolled his eyes. "Let me go already."
"All right, all right. Bye Cloudy!"
Cloud rolled his eyes again and grunted, but hung up the phone right afterward.
The sun was too bright, he heard nothing from the outside, and his body felt like it was hit by two trains and Sephiroth tackling him all at once.
But whatever… Another day, another gil.
