Chapter Text
Prologue:
Who wouldn’t want to see their child be wed to the love of their life? To see their baby walk down the aisle, dressed like the prettiest princess you’ve ever seen, to the partner they’ve spent building a special bond to the point they decide to spend the rest of their lives together?
Love takes time to grow, time to share old memories, time to create new ones, and time to at the very least get to know each other better than the average person.
Well unfortunately, none of that would be the reality for the parents of Virgil Dimn, after years of no bicces, Virgil had yet to gift his parents with that moment. Whether that be by choice or not, his parents were getting restless.
Eventually, they had enough.
Next thing he knew, he was signed up for a matchmaker without being told. His parents thought it’d be a pleasant little surprise to suddenly tell him only a month in advance that he was basically being sold.
~
The Matchmaker was supposedly the best in the kingdom, claiming to be able to find love for anyone and anything, promising that by signing up for their program, they’d be signing up for a fairytale happily ever after. There was just one slight problem, no one wanted to pay for it. A true fairytale would have the lovers fall in love by their own choice, and this was quite the opposite.
Their sign up list was shorter than an artist's pencil, only a few guys signing up.
Well… not that Virgil would have complained if he was surprised with a wedding to a cute, smart, sweet, kind, handsome man… he honestly would have preferred it.
It’s a great thing he was paired with prince Remus Sanders then!
~
Remus Sanders was the Prince of Problems. The Duke of Disaster. The King of Chaos.
The royal screw up that kept royally screwing up.
He was known around the kingdom of light not just for his status, but his infamous behavior. Just last week he had unleashed the farmers' entire flock of chickens upon the town.
Or as he liked to call it, The Great Acockalypse of 1833.
A fair 3 years have passed since the expected age of marriage for the royal family. His brother Prince Roman, heir to the throne and the ‘good twin’ had married in his first year to one of the king's men’s daughters. Whether or not the relationship was set up due to a deal with the king made by said now-head-of-guard kingsman is up to debate-
Either way, his ‘perfect’ twin had his princess, and for some reason everyone was expecting him, the failure, to follow suit.
But Remus had yet to choose any of the many maidens offered to him, managing to come up with an excuse each time. And for some reason it had to be a woman according to some ancient rules, made up by his own father.
Which is dumb when you consider that his father literally created this entire kingdom with nothing but his ‘gift’ alone.
You cannot say that there have been rules set in stone for centuries when you’re constantly bragging about creating the kingdom of light for all the poor unfortunate humans who needed shelter for the “dangerous” world outside the walls.
`Quit calling yourself a god just because you can create a few buildings and food and shit from plain air if you’re not powerful enough to change some old homophobic ass rules, dad.`
- Remus 1830
Where was this going… oh yeah, so he couldn’t find a wife and apparently the entire kingdom was going to die if he wasn’t forced into some stupid wedding.
So the King turned to the only matchmaker they could find with ‘legit’ credentials, and it just so happened to be the exact same one Virgil was signed up for.
Boy, was that the most exciting yet terrifying letter the Matchmaker had ever received. Not only was it addressed from King Romulus himself, but it was offering an incredibly generous price compared to their usual asking.
They had accepted the offer almost immediately, without stopping to think that there were only 3 people left on the list and NONE of them were women.
So either they had to find a girl and fast, or…
They could make one.

Chapter 1: Till’Death Do We Part?
Virgil’s outfit got checked one last time, every fold or crinkle got taken out. His face was dusted with powder and covered in all sorts of make up to make him as feminine as possible. Fake eyelashes glue to his lids with added eyeliner and an admittedly gorgeous eyeshadow.
They did everything to make him look like a proper lady, instead of some boy in a dress.
Hidden under the dress was a heavy chain, padded with fabrics to be silent, can’t have the clanking of chains to ruin a perfectly good wedding, right? The chains were soon to be attached to the floor in front of the altar so he couldn't run away. It was tight and heavy… restricting Virgil with every move he tried to make.
His whole life was changed for this event. His birth certificate was changed, to say that he was born as a lady with the name Veronica, instead of being born as a male named Virgil. He wore a tight corset to give him feminine shapes...
They were even thinking about giving him surgery...but luckily for Virgil, they couldn't, because he wouldn't be healed enough before the wedding.
The matchmaker still wanted to do the surgeries... so she told Virgil to just not get Remus under his clothes before that had happened... He would be taken away for 'royal training', at least that was what the rest of the royal family were told.. but it was far from that. He already had done the royal training before the wedding, this would just be a big body change
He got shaken out of his thoughts when his father grabbed his arm. He would walk him down the aisle... he saw the disappointed look on his father's face... The look of a father who had lost his son, and traded him for a girl...just to get some stupid money back, having been offered a full refund and some compensation for all this.
The music started to play on the other side of the door. Virgil's chain was lifted up from the ground a bit so he could walk with his father.
His dress was white with gold accents, to show that he would be a royal now. His jewelry was green, to show that he belonged to the prince. His hair was curled and brown, and his skin was pale and looked like porcelain.. he looked like a girl, just like everyone wanted.
At the end of the aisle stood Father Patton and his soon to be husband, the prince, his normally wild and messy hair combed back and held in place by enough hairspray to kill a horse.
The servants in charge of making him look somewhat professional had practically painted his face with the same shit keeping the illusion of ‘Veronica’ in place.
All for the sake of pleasing the crowded chairs filled with almost the entire kingdom.
Normally Remus wouldn't give a shit about the crowds, having done worse shit in front of the kingdom, but with his father's piercing glare from the front seats, it all felt different.
His eyes shifted to Virgil, now Veronica as they walked down between the many rows of people towards him.
'Shit, you can nearly smell the fear comin’ from her...' Remus thought to himself as he watched her walk up, offering a small smile to the terrified and uncomfortable girl.
Virgil walked over with his father. His eyes seemed unfocused and cloudy, like he was far out of reality with his mind.
He didn't want this, but he forced a smile on his face… he had to, they both had to
He heard the music loud in his ears. He felt like they were bleeding… but they weren't...and the music wasn't even that loud… he was just overwhelmed and overstimulated.
Before he knew it, he stood in front of Remus, his father at his side.
He felt the chain getting attached to the floor, his weight shifting a bit as he felt like he could sink to the floor at any moment.
Actually that would be amazing if he could just faze through the floor and disappear from existence.
Remus had noticed the chain, the fabric covered metal visible for just a moment as it was attached. ‘Damn, they really had to chain this chick up?? I didn’t think I was that repulsive…’
‘Veronica’ looked up at Remus with a small smile, exactly as he was taught to do. He glanced over at the pastor who offered back a small reassuring and slightly pitiful smile, he was one of the only people informed about Virgil's penis situation.
Father Patton started the usual wedding speech, but then began to go one about how the pair apparently met, painting a lovely tale about how they had met during one of Remus’s many griefs on the kingdom. It was apparently love at first sight.
He droned on for what felt like hours, which was just making it harder and harder for the prince to stand still and wait for all this to be done with.
He caught Virgil's eyes again and gestured to Patton, before doing a playful eye roll.
The ‘bride’ couldn’t help but snicker quietly at the other, before feeling a sharp shove from his father to stay serious. He sent a small glare at his dad before looking forward, expression going back to that blandness from before.
Remus glanced back at his own father, who had given him a death glare at the snicker that he knew was the prince's fault.
He turned his head back to face Virgil with a bitter mutter, at least she seemed to have a sense of humour, even a small one.
This might not be too bad... maybe.
"After the beautiful journey these two have undergone, there is only hope for the future.” Patton began to rap up his colourful story, “Perhaps our dear Veronica will finally be able to tame the unruly prince." The pastor chuckled, getting a small laugh to resonate from the crowd. "Now, speaking of the soon-to-be Princess, do you take Prince Remus Sanders the 2nd as your lawfully wedded husband forever and always, until death do you part?"
“Yes, yes I will '' he said with a small smile, glancing back at Remus.
Even his voice was higher than it used to be... everything had changed. They even made up a lie about his house having burned down, making all pictures and memories disappear… just so no one could find out about his real past.
"Lovely.” Pastor Patton responded with a warm tone, before directing his attention to Remus, “And do you, Remus Sanders, take Veronica of Dimn as your Lawfully wedded wife forever and always, until death do you part?" The pastor said, smiling warmly at the prince.
The prince froze… the room settling into an awkward, anticipating silence as everyone waited for the prince's response…
He glanced back at his father before taking a small breath and at last saying, "I do."
Virgil's father let out a sigh of relief, as if he was holding his breath the whole time. Virgil glanced over at him. He had nothing to sigh about, he didn't have to change his whole life just because his parents wanted some money.
Virgil then looked back at Remus with a smile. Glancing at the pastor occasionally…
He knew exactly what was supposed to happen now.
Everyone had a sigh of relief, and even the king seemed to relax a little.
"Excellent!" Father Patton clapped his hands together, "You may now kiss the bride!"
Virgil smiled a bit, having to seem excited like everyone else as Remus reluctantly leaned in for the kiss, keeping it short and sweet for both their comfort.
Once they pulled apart, they were both handed the rings.
Virgil’s ring was a lovely golden ring with little emeralds surrounding the white diamond, while Remus's ring was a simple silver band with the same emeralds decorating it.
The prince took the others hand and put the ring on the wrong finger, something Virgil would have to fix later.
Virgil carefully slid the ring around Remus’s ring finger.
His chain was taken off his ankle..because he was married now.
No matter if he ran away.. he would still be married.
People started to clap. Virgil was told to grab Remus's hand and walk down the aisle with him again..so that is what they did.
They were stuck together
Forever.
After walking down the aisle, they were instructed to get into the private carriage as they're escorted from the church back to the palace for the reception.
Time for the newlyweds first ever time being together.
