Work Text:

X'yahma opened the doors to the Goldsmith's Guild and peeked inside. It was largely quiet aside from the light tinks of the hammers and gentle clicks of clockwork as it was put into place. "Ah, excuse me," he said to the Hyuran woman, who then looked at him through her spectacles, "I'm here on behalf of the Garlond Ironworks. For a mammet heart.

The woman flitted through some papers and looked back at him. "May I have your name?"

"X'yahma."

She nodded and clicked her tongue. "Yes, we have you right here. If you would see Guildmaster Serendipity, she should be right over there on the floor somewhere." She pointed over down the short stairs towards the lowered, open area where the goldsmiths were at work.

"Thank you." X'yhama nodded and proceeded down the stairs. He noticed another Hyuran woman with large, lavender pigtails standing over a very shaky Lalafell.

"Steady, easy does it," she said as bullets of sweat fell from the plainly inexperienced worker's face.

"Excuse me, I'm looking for the guildmaster, can you tell me where she is?"

The Hyur perked up and looked at him, adjusting her spectacles. "Hello there! I'm Serendipity. How can I help you?"

"You're the guildmaster?" X'yahma scanned over her. "Such a pretty thing. You must have quite a talent, as young as you are."

Red splashed over her face as she looked away, "Oh, hush."

As she cleared her throat, a mammet, much like the ones standing outside the guild hobbled over as only a mammet can.

"NE*GIGIGI*... It WoIlD aPpEaR tHaT i WaS wRoNg. ThE oNlY pErSoN wHo WoUlD tAkE iNtErEsT iN oUr FaIr GuIlDmAsTeR iS a ScRaGgLy MaN oFf ThE sTrEeTs," it said with a crackling voice.

"Gigi!" she yelled at the mammet before it dawned on him what it just said. She quickly turned back to X'yahma and bowed. "I'm terribly sorry for Gigi's behavior. He's been quite rude lately, please pay him no mind."

X'yahma chuckled. "Believe me, I heard worse. Much worse. But you shouldn't frown so; you'll ruin that pretty face of yours." She reddened again.

"NE*GIGIGI*... I wOuLdN't WiPe My ArSe WiTh A pAgE fRoM tHe RoMaCcE bOoKs YoU wOuLd WrItE."

Once again, Serendipity snapped her gaze at the mammet and put her hands on her hips. "Gigi, please! What if he's a customer?"

"I suppose I should say why I'm here. I'm with the Garlond Ironworks. They requested a mammet heart."

"Oh! Yes, I've taken the liberty of picking the finest heart we have- fit for a prince among mammets." She stepped over towards a case in a corner of the room. "If you would follow me."

"NE*GIGIGI*... ThErE cAn OnLy Be OnE pRiNcE iN tHiS pAlAcE." His raving was ignored, though the guildmaster shook her head as they gathered at the case before she opened it.

Inside was a collection of various jewelry- mostly rings, bracelets and earrings, and a few glowing stones. "There we are, our finest mammet heart."

X'yahma's face fell. "Wait, how much do I owe?" he asked as panic began to set in.

"Hm?" Serendipity looked back at him, "Oh, that won't be necessary. The heart's for Master Alphinaud's personal use, after all. He notified us a short while ago that his manservant would be coming to collect it."

"Is that so?" he said to himself, Gigi staring at him.

"Tender in years though he may be, Master Alphinaud has been a benefactor of ours since my predecessor's time. The Goldsmith's guild wouldn't dream of charging him." She slipped the machinery into a sack and held it out to him. "But here is the mammet heart! May it serve you well!"

"Thank you, so much." X'yahma said, tucking it away into his bag.

"Oh, and please do pass on my compliments to your master!" she added.

"NE*GIGIGI*... AnD pAsS mInE tO yOuR aCtInG cOaCh."

X'yahma looked down to the mammet, and back to his bag where the heart was nestled. "Are you sure I couldn't take his instead?"

"What could you possibly use Gigi for?" Serendipity asked before shaking her head. "Actually, I don't want to know. But he's invaluable to the guild, I can't simply send him off."

Before he could say anything more, he felt a burning pinprick. Listening to his instinct, he bent backwards as a spring launched from somewhere, slamming into the nearby wall before bouncing off the wall and flew upwards as it spun before falling to the ground. X'yahma looked over to where it came from, and the shaky Lalafell from before looked like he'd seen a ghost.

"Mimishi, are you all right?" Serendipity ran over, with Gigi trailing at her feet.

""NE*GIGIGI*... MaYhAp ThE aRcHeR's GuIlD bEtTeR sUiTs YoUr TaLeNtS. YoUr AiM iS a FaIr SiGhT bEtTeR tHaN yOuR gOlDsMiThInG."

"Gigi, now is not the time!" the guildmaster yelled at the callous mammet again. While they were distracted, X'yahma made his way out of the guild and towards the nearest aethernet shard. He musn't tarry any longer.

Notes:

Gigi is a riot and I love him in the GSM quests, but MAN, is it hard to write for him. I imagine that he would have something to say if Serendipity did get romantically involved with someone, but that is another story.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed.
