The world always seemed smaller from on high. Even with the ugly, looming wall of steel to the west, X'yahma was left breathless from the view atop Rhalgr's hand. He sat on the edge of the giant thumb, letting his feet dangle in the air as he scanned the horizon- from the badlands to the east to the edge of the Twelveswood. Humanity could simply disappear, and the world would hardly change, would it?
Below, in the Reach, the Resistance was making preparations for the coming assault on Ala Mhigo. A lengthy siege give the Empire ample time for reinforcements. It must be a swift and devastating attack. But it would all be for naught if that monster struck him down. Perhaps that was why he was breathless. Not at peace- but drowning in anxieties. Would his meager training with Gosetsu be enough to turn the tide?
He turned his head towards footsteps- the heavy, rapid footsteps and gasps for air as Lyse made her way to the palm. She doubled over, hands on her knees as she caught her breath. "Not fair. Not fair at all." She gasped between breaths.
X'yahma let out a laugh as he swung his legs onto solid rock and stood. "You wanted a race." He shrugged. "It just so happens that climbing's my specialty."
"'Climbing,' he says as he never put a hand out as he jumped the whole way here." Lyse straightened and took a deep breath and stretched.
"I'm surprised Widargelt never told me of this place. It's quite a view." He looked out again, though his gaze drifted in the direction of Ul'dah. He craned his head towards Lyse. "Caught your breath yet?"
"Unbelievable," she muttered as she cracked her knuckles and took a stance. "I'm starting to think you want me to hurt you."
X'yahma hopped across the gap and landed some yalms in front of her. He rolled his neck, releasing the tension in his neck as he took a loose stance. "If you do hurt me, that just means I'm not dreaming."
Lyse laughed as the two stared the other down. The first rays of the sun began to peek through the mountain. As the hand was awash with the fresh rays of the dawn, the two leaped forward in a display of symmetry as their spar began.
