Chapter Text
Hunter:
-Many people will warn you that Hunter doesn’t warm up to people easily, and outwardly this may appear to be so. In truth, it’s hard for him to be around new people due to his heightened senses. The new smells, sounds and unfamiliar body language puts him on edge. However, once he gets used to it he starts to take a liking to you.
-He’s not one for physical affection but he won’t turn down a hug should you offer one which should clue you into how much he cares about you. He’ll also start to lose his usually gruff exterior and will be softer when he’s with you by allowing himself to joke around and smile more openly.
-This may seem like the opposite of showing he cares but he’ll scold you whenever he thinks you’re being too reckless. He only does it because he worries about you and he’s afraid that one day you’ll wind up hurt when he isn’t there to protect you. He also checks up on you regularly under the guise that he’s simply making sure everything is well back at the base.
-One of the biggest ways he shows he cares about you is by gifting you a weapon. It seems odd, but it’s his way of saying he trusts you to protect not only yourself but him as well. He gives you a small hand-crafted knife. It’s not large but it’s sharp enough to deal enough damage to slow someone down should you need to. If you don’t already know how to defend yourself with it Hunter is more than glad to teach you.
Wrecker:
-Wrecker is incredibly friendly. Especially if he likes you, so it’s rather easy to tell he has a soft spot for you. However, there is a difference between him simply liking you and actually caring about you.
-He doesn’t own much but what he does have he cherishes. So to show he cares about you he will share what he has with you. Wether it’s snacks, equipment, or stories. He knows you no doubt have plenty of those things considering you’re not a clone and a free being. But it’s one of the ways he knows he can show you he trusts you, by sharing what matters most to him.
-It’s a right of passage for Wrecker to try and teach you hand-to-hand combat, even if you already know how to fight. Although most of the time it just turns into play wrestling because it’s Wrecker, and he’s hardly ever serious. Half the time he lets you win mainly because he loves to see how proud you are of yourself after managing to pin him.
-One of the biggest ways he shows he cares about you is he shows you Lula. He knows it’s often seen as weak or ridiculous for someone as large and strong as him to have a stuffed animal. It’s one of the few things he feels vulnerable about and he was nervous the first time he ever showed the plush to you. He’ll offer her to you at times to borrow if he notices you’re having a particularly bad day or if you’re having trouble sleeping because it always helps him feel better.
Tech:
-It isn’t easy to tell when tech likes someone unless you know him very well. He gravitates towards those he likes and becomes a second shadow to you. He isn’t trying to be annoying by hovering, he simply enjoys the comfort your company brings him.
-Tech has a hard time keeping friends due to his info-dumping so he tries to keep his talking to a minimum when he begins to befriend you. Instead, allowing you to talk for the majority of the time he’s with you. Once in a while he can’t help but ramble off something he knows but he’s quick to stop himself when he realizes what he’s done. He’ll mumble out an apology before trying to switch the subject. When you reassure him you don’t mind his little rants his brain takes a minute to reboot. You don’t mind that he goes on rants about obscure subjects? He wants to believe you but there’s a voice of doubt in the back of his mind that says otherwise. Despite his doubt, he begins slowly opening up and being his true nerdy self more.
-If Tech likes you he will try to sway you to let him tinker with any equipment or technology you have to make it function better. He’s not the strongest, fastest, or bravest. But he can protect you by using his brain power to upgrade your equipment to ensure your safety. He’ll also make you small gadgets to help with everyday chores. He won’t make it obvious, and half the time he’ll tell you he made it for the team and is simply having you test it out. Then once you tell him it’s satisfactory he’ll make up a logical excuse for you to keep it.
-One of the biggest ways he shows he cares about you and trusts you is if he allows you to be near him when he’s working on something. Whether asking you to hand him a tool, suggesting you sit in his chair since he isn’t using it, or clearing a space on the table for you to do your own thing. He wants to show you your presence doesn’t distract him or annoy him while he’s working.
Crosshair:
-Crosshair doesn’t like anyone. Or at least, that’s what he wants everyone else to believe. He’s constantly been bullied and belittled his whole life so he doesn’t trust easily. He panics if he realizes he’s beginning to like you and either doubles down on being a cold hearted jerk or avoids you completely.
-If you stick around despite his efforts to get rid of you he’ll very very slowly begin to warm up to you. His usually scalding remarks become more teasing than hurtful and he begins to hang around you more. He’s the type of person who doesn’t need to speak to you when he spends time with you. He just needs to be within the same vicinity as you in order to enjoy your company.
-He’ll start to smile in front of you once he gets more comfortable with you. It’s small and more of a smirk, but it’s still there. He also lets his softer side peek through by helping you better your shooting skills. If you don’t know how he’ll scoff and say he can’t save you forever. Really he’s just worried you can’t defend yourself if he’s not there. If you already know how to shoot he’ll retort with that he’s better than you and you still need to improve your aim. In truth, he just likes to spend time with you and he knows how to keep the conversation going when the subject is something he’s good at.
-One of the biggest ways he shows he cares about you is that he’ll ask you about how you’re doing. This may seem like an ordinary thing for most people, but Crosshair doesn’t do emotions very well. Yet with you, it’s different. He wants to know how you’re doing and if you’re alright. Does he have the words to comfort you? No, but he wants to try and make you feel better. Even if he isn’t the best at it.
Echo:
-Echo is shy when he meets you. He knows his appearance is off putting the first time someone sees him and he tries to make himself seem as small and harmless as he can. He’ll be kind and make small talk but unless he truly likes you he won’t go any further than niceties.
-He’ll ask you to stay behind and help him fix the ship whenever the Bad Batch lands on a new planet. Despite how shy he was when you first met he’s actually rather good when it comes to starting and holding conversations. Despite his semi-off putting appearance, he’ll have you opening up to him in no time due to his comforting presence. In return, he’ll share little snippets about his past with you as well.
-He’ll make you small trinkets or figurines from stray scraps as gifts to thank you for being his friend. He knows it sounds dumb but he feels like he’s a burden at times. The fact that you still want to interact with him even on his bad days means a lot to him.
-One of the biggest ways he shows he cares about you and truly trusts you is that you become his comfort zone. When he’s overwhelmed or doesn’t feel comfortable in his own skin he tends to seek you out. He won’t always speak when he does this and will instead silently hold your hand or link his pinky with yours. He’ll also ask you to attend checkups with him, even if he does trust Tech he still becomes anxious around medical equipment.
