Work Text:
Kukui’s been waiting for the weekend. Not because of the long chore list that he’s been putting off for far too long. No, it’s something completely else
That something else was currently in his room. Pinning his waist to the bed and holding a big blue cup that could be holding just water or it could be filled with Grimer schmuck. Kukui has no clue but what he is doing is playing with the devil.
“Good morning.” he groaned deeply as he stretched his arms. Completely ignoring the cup Ash was holding precariously over his head. “Did you sleep well?”
Kukui grinned up at his TA knowing full well that he looked like the Persian who got the cream of the crop. Trying to hold back the swelling of laughter as the light coming from Kukui’s open bedroom window alights Ash’s facial features pretty nicely. It took even more strength for Kukui not to ask Ash how he likes his new looks.
The young adult, which he’s been lovingly referring to as kid despite only being just four years older, flared his nose. Glaring down at the professor whose shoulders were just starting to shake as his laughter grew and grew. “Are you happy with yourself?”
Extremely, Kukui cackled in his mind. Letting his eyes travel over the sharpie marks he drew on Ash at two in the morning. The decision was made out of poor self control for skipping two days of rest, over eight cups of coffee consumed in those two days, and the blunt that he and Ash shared an hour earlier.
Also just because Kukui wanted to.
Overall, looking over his masterpiece was the wrong move. As it got extremely harder to school his expressions. His shoulders shooked harder as Kukui struggled with breathing right and not smiling in the face of his doom.
“Don’t eat all the oreo’s next time.” Kukui answers. Voice shaking with the waning control he had over his joy.
If Kukui ended up dying this morning it would be completely worth it.
Ash’s face had the usual comical drawn glasses that you see on so many cartoons nowadays. Little stars taking over his freckled cheeks and the word looser in all caps written across his forehead in a very large print. It was all tied off with a drawn goatee that was absolutely shaded in. It doesn't help Kukui’s endeavors in his attempt of survival against not laughing at the little rabid mini Bewear when Ash’s eyes squint closer and closer together every time a sound comes out of the professor's mouth.
It was a vicious cycle. Everytime any kind of noise slipped past Kukui’s lips, Ash’s eyes would grow harder and harder with apathy. Along with the sharpie marks? Kukui was a dead man . So much so to the point he was somehow laughing behind clenched jaws and pursed lips. Eyes unable to be torn away from the TA’s face that was filled with bloodshed now. If Kukui spoke up now it would be over for him. Actually, at this point his death is already cemented in reality.
“Do you know what I have?” Ash asked. Tracking every miniscule movement the Professor makes. “In this cup, that is.”
Kukui shook his head. Biting the inside of his cheek to somehow try and lessen the wisp of a giggle that barely made itself known.
“It’s gasoline.”
Any and all respect that Kukui had for himself along with his sanity was thrown out of his body. Laughter racked his frame as his upper half twisted and turned in his bed. Somehow, and Kukui’s totally gonna question the kid’s internal core after this entire thing is over, Ash keeps his hips pinned to the bed. Which is hard because he was originally sleeping on his side when Ash ambushed him. Kukui’s not even going to question where the lanky Kantonian motherfucker found gasoline at nine in the morning.
Ash waited in patient silence as Kukui basically coughed a lung up. Laughing so hard to the point he wasn’t even making any sound let alone breezing. Lucky that he shut the door before waking the professor so the sound was at least a little muffled.
They don’t need to let their little guests know what’s really going on.
“Why did you tell the class that I wanted to hang out with them during the weekend? Especially after I’ve talked about my plans for silence and relaxation this entire past week?”
“C… Come on.” Kukui’s laughter had settled on nervous giggles. Eyes tracking the cup as Ash’s hand around it tensed. “You… you don’t know I-Island well yet. And the k-kids seem to like you-”
“I am your Assistant. ” Ash growled. Leaning away from his somewhat hunched position over the professor, taking his cup with him too. “My job is a Teacher Assistant. Not a Student-Teacher Assistant. My contract clearly stated that I would be helping you with prep work for the class. Any and all actual moments of teaching the students would fall solely on you.”
Kukui opened his mouth to defend himself more, knowing full well he was going to get a cup of gasoline to his face regardless of what happened next, when there was a knock on the door. Even the sound made from whoever did it sounded hesitant.
“Ash?” Mallow’s voice spoke up after a moment when neither of the adult’s made their own sound. “Is everything okay in there? What’s all that yelling? And where’s Professor Kukui?”
Kukui fully thought he had more time to at least attempt to wiggle into Ash’s good graces again. He even had a deal building in his mind that he was going to offer up in that literal moment, even if it came back to bite him in the ass in the end. But Mallow’s voice triggered something in Ash or at the very least shocked the young adult because he threw the contents of the cup directly in his face.
It was very much Gasoline but the large chunks of ice cubes threw Kukui for a loop.
“Ack-Ash!”
In a flash his Ta was no longer pinning him and instead was by the door. Blocking not just Mallow but what sounded like the entire class’s view of the Professor once Ash actually opened the door. Slipping out of it with a kick “Bye, Kukui!’ before closing it behind him.
There was a loud bang, Kukui hoped Ash slipped in his stupid Furret themed socks and hit the floor, and the class’s general volume rose quickly. Shouts of both shock and glee soon fled from the door and the house in general in a couple of seconds. Leaving Kukui and the nasty liquid to seep into his mattress. Threading the smell of fucking gasoline into his bedding and for some reason Kukui couldn’t find a reason to be mad.
Kukui’s annoyed as shit and will definitely be getting the little fucker back sometime in the future but he’s not mad. Ash actually did him a favor, believe it or not, as he’s been wanting to find a new reason to get a new mattress.
