The Other Side of the Universe

Summary:

“Not only that,” Shouta makes eye contact with Halilintar. “Quirk usage in public without a license like you did before is illegal. We will give you warnings, but that's also for later.”

One moment they seem to understand. The next, they look even more confused than they were before. Taufan and Fang are glancing at each other, exchanging looks.

Halilintar frowns deeply, staring at the ground before looking straight at the hero before him.

“I'm sorry, but what the hell is a quirk?

Chapter Text

Eraserhead is patrolling from rooftop to rooftop, with Midoriya and Shinsou catching up behind him. It was a new non-mandatory program U.A. has, where the students must “intern” under one of the pro heroes in the school. Shinsou and Midoriya are two of the few students that are interning under his wing.

They usually spend the time training and sparing in school, but this is one of the times when Shouta chooses to take a patrol with them. It was pretty normal until a portal suddenly appeared a few meters behind them, and Midoriya was the first one who noticed. Shouta noticed a second after, making the three of them halt.

They see a figure falling from that portal, and before Shouta could catch them with his binding cloth, a flash of red suddenly took the figure. A loud thud was heard beneath them in the alleyway as they are looking for them.

"You two, follow me. Stay behind my back." He says to his students, and they nod silently.

As they walk towards the figure, Shouta notices that one of them— his attire is dominated by golden and black— is passed out with visible injuries. There’s blood streaming down from his forehead to his face, fresh blood on his clothes, and Shouta is pretty sure his leg was broken. While the other one— his outfit is dominated by red and black— is frantically taking off his jacket and trying to put some pressure on the other’s side with that.

Shouta also notices both are young, probably around his student’s age.

What the hell had these kids been doing to be this injured?

They’re cautiously trying to get closer until a pair of fierce red eyes notices them. He embraces the other protectively and says something in a foreign language they have never heard before.

“(Stay back! Don’t even dare to get closer. Or else.)”

Shouta raises his eyebrows, tilting his head slightly. He can’t understand what he says, but he can take a good guess that it's a threat.

“Good afternoon. I am Pro Hero Eraserhead, and you and your friend are injured. We can help you.” Shouta starts. But he only received a confused look from the other.

Alright. English it is, then.

Can you speak English? Shouta is a bit taken aback when Midoriya suddenly speaks for him.

You see, he’s a Pro Hero Eraserhead, and we’re heroes in training. We saw your friend fell from a portal, and we want to help. Can you tell us your name? Midoriya slowly walks closer to the strange kid, but he only stares at his student skeptically.

The kid is silent for a moment. .... Just call me Halilintar. Yes, I can speak English well. And no, I do not need your help. I can handle this myself.

This time, it was Shinsou that spoke up. No offense, dude, but I think your friend over there is dying. You can’t help him by yourself, unless you have a healing quirk.

"Shinsou-kun!"

Shinsou only shrugs. What? I’m right.

The kid— Halilintar— scowls at that. "And how can I trust you?"

That's fair.

Shouta reaches for something from his pocket and shows his Hero License to the kid.

He squints at that, and grumbles. "It's not like I can read them, but whatever."

Before Shouta can respond, a groan is heard from the other figure as he slowly blinks, showing a pair of golden eyes.

“(Hali....?)” He lets out a ragged voice.

The sour look immediately turns into a relieved one. “(Gempa! You’re awake!)”

The other one tried to rise up and hissed in pain.

Halilintar scolds him at that. “(Hey, slow down. You’re hurt pretty bad. Not to mention the broken leg you got there.)” He helps the other sit properly while still pressing the wounds on the side.

Now that the other kid is waking up, Shouta can see him clearly and notices the resemblances between the two— if he ignores the blood hard enough. Twin brothers, perhaps?

“(Where’s.... Taufan?)” Still dazed, he starts to say something as his eyes slowly look up at them. “(And... who are they...?)”

“(They said they’re heroes. I’m not sure where we are, but there's a high chance that we're in Japan.)”

Halilintar pauses, glancing around their surroundings. “(And no, sorry, I haven’t seen Taufan since we’ve arrived here.)”

Worried was written all over the other’s face. “(That’s... that’s not good. How’d did we end up here?)”

“(We got sucked into a portal. Definitely not Ochobot’s, though.)”

Shouta decides he's going to cut off whatever conversation the two have.

How are you feeling, kid? Shouta crouches, making eye contact as he asks the newly conscious kid. You’re not in good shape, so please don’t move much. It might worsen your injuries. We can give you first aid and call an ambulance for you.

Halilintar immediately rejects it. That won’t be necessary. We have people that can help us.

The kid in his embrace frowned at that. What’s wrong with that...? We can let them help. You said they’re heroes... right?

Halilintar only looks at him blankly, unamused. Gempa, the two times we blindly trusted adults we just met, we kinda died. So, no thanks.

Well, if that isn’t concerning. Shouta can sense his students glancing at each other, piqued with interest.

The kid in golden— Shouta guesses his name is Gempa— despite his weak condition, only rolled his eyes at that. "(Well, two of the heroes over there is around our age.)"

"(Qually was around our age.)"

Gempa groans. “(Come on, Hali. Let's just... let them help us, for now. We're both injured, and we have no idea about our friends whereabouts. Least we can do is stay sharp, and... well, not dying.)"

Shouta, once again, only raised his eyebrows at the two's conversation. He can say that he’s rather curious about it.

Halilintar seems to ponder at that, before he sighs in defeat and turns his head back at Shouta. Fine, whatever. I’ll let you help us. Gempa gives him a satisfied nod.

Halilintar continues, However, we can’t move from this position just yet. So, no hospital.

May I ask why?

We’re with someone else. I think. I hope so. It’d be bad if the three of us get separated for a long time and at a long distance. Halilintar explains. He pauses, and raises his hand.Hey, quick question?

Shouta nods. Sure, go ahead.

Where is this, exactly?

That is an expected question, considering they’re possibly foreigners and probably got caught in some quirk accident or villain fight.

You’re currently in Musutafu, Japan.

Halilintar goes still for a moment before composing himself. Oh. Like, on Earth.

That statement, however, makes no sense at all.

Don’t mind that, Mr. Hero. Gempa offers him an apologetic smile, noticing the utter confusion on his face. “(And uh... Hali?)”

“(Yeah?)”

“(Can you... try to contact Taufan? And the others too, if you can.)” Gempa says something, and just as he finishes his sentences, a beep is heard from Halilintar’s... watch?

He stares at the watch for a moment. “(Huh? It’s Fang.)”

Then he darts his eyes to the three before pointing at someone behind Shouta. Hey, the one with green hair over there.

Midoriya lets out a surprised yelp when he is suddenly being called at. Eh? M-me?

Yeah. You said you’re gonna help us, right? Can you help me out with him? I got a call.

Midoriya widens his eyes before giving him an affirmative nod. Will do! He says with determination and rushed to Halilintar.

Midoriya inspects the other boy’s injuries first and carefully starts to aid him. Hello, there! My name’s Deku. What’s yours?

The boy who is now lying on the ground only grins weakly. Just call me Gempa.

Alright, Gempa. I’m going to clean some of your wounds. It might hurt a little.

Shouta couldn't stand not doing anything, so he walks toward the injured boy, loosening his binding cloth. We need to patch up his leg. Shinsou, give me a hand.

Shinsou nods. Got it.

Halilintar watches as the heroes aiding his counterpart for a moment, before he stands and walks away, pushes a button on his power watch. Fang appears on the hologram and is also in some alleyway. Halilintar spots there is someone else with him.

"(Finally. What took you so long?)" Fang lightly complains.

Halilintar ignores that. “(Fang. Where are you? Are you with Taufan?)”

“(Yeah, I’m with—)”

“(Hali! Thank goodness, you’re alive!!)” His other counterpart cuts in.

Halilintar starts to notice the cuts on both of their faces. “(Are you guys okay? Any serious injuries?)”

“(We’re okay, just a few scratches!)”

“(Hey, stop interrupting me!)” Fang pushes Taufan’s face, sighing. “(What about you, are you alright? We had tried to contact you and Gempa but none of you guys answered. We also couldn’t get in touch with the others, it just went into statics.)”

“(I’m alright, nothing major. Gempa’s with me, but he’s badly injured.)” Halilintar turns his head to Gempa, who is now barely awake.

“(What?! Is he okay?!)”  Taufan shouts in worry.

“(Of course not. But I got a company here, though, they’re helping us. Gotta speak in English, too, since we can't understand each other.)”

Fang and Taufan stare at each other.

Fang speaks first, “(You’re with someone? Who? And speaking in English? Where are we, exactly?)”

Taufan nods rapidly at that. “(We tried to use the GPS but it won’t work!)”

Halilintar presses his lips into a thin line. “(We’re in Japan.)"

"(Japan?! We're back to Earth?)"

"(I’ll explain the rest later. Right now, I need you two to come here. Since you said the GPS didn’t work, I’m going to give you my location with a signal. You’ll know what I mean. Can you wait for it?)”

Fang gives him a short nod. “(Sure, we can. Taufan, stay focus.)”

“(Sorry!)”

“(Alright. I’m hanging up now. Wait for my signals.)”

Halilintar ends the call and walks toward them. How is he?

He passed out, but stable. Shinsou informed him shortly.

Halilintar nods, Please take care of him for a sec. I still need to send my friend some signals.

Signals? Midoriya asks.

Halilintar only smirks,You’ll see.

He then walks away for the second time, hops on the walls with red electricity surrounding his body— probably part of his quirk— and arrives on the rooftop above them. Shouta and his students clean the remains of Gempa’s wounds as they watched Halilintar summons a red, lightning-shaped blade in his hand and throws them into the sky. After a few seconds of silence, there’s a loud rumbling, and intense thunder suddenly strikes a few meters before them.

Shouta instinctively protects his students and the kid— although the thunder doesn’t seem to hit them.

What the hell was that.

Done. Shouta turns his head quickly to the voice, hiding his shock when Halilintar teleported behind him like that.

What the hell was that?He can’t help but voice his thought.

The kid only raises his eyebrows, seeming unbothered. The signals. He checks his watch, pressing a button until a hologram pops up, but this time it shows him some kind of text message. My friends said they can see it, close to where they are. We should wait for them.

And why not just— Shouta points at the watch, —use that to send your location?

Halilintar scoffs. Obviously, if the GPS worked, I would’ve used it in the first place.

Shouta stares at him. Normally, he would’ve reprimanded a quirk usage in public space, especially for such a powerful one like that.

But that can wait. Shouta thought while pinching the bridge of his nose.

... Alright, whatever. For now, I will call the ambulance for your brother.Shouta holds back a sigh, reaching for his phone and glancing at the red-eyed kid.

He notices the kid is staring at him in confusion, raising one of his eyebrows. Brother?

Shouta only blinks. Is he not your brother? You two look like twins.

Realization comes to Halilintar as his eyes widen at what Shouta has said. Oh! You mean Gempa.

He puts his hand under his chin, tilting his head and is silent for a moment. Well. That’s a first. I can see why you see us that way, though.

That doesn’t answer Shouta’s question. So. You two are brothers or not?

Eh, you can say that. You see—"

“(Hali! Hey, Hali, over here!!)” The same loud voice Shouta heard briefly from the call cuts off their conversation. Two pairs of footsteps are running toward them.

One of them has raven, spiky hair and wears a clear visor, while the other one… has the exact same face as Halilintar and Gempa, but with blue eyes, and he wears his cap in a weird way.

They’re triplets. Is what Shouta can only think at that moment.

“(Where’s Gempa?)” One of them says something to them.

“(He’s over there. He passed out, so we can’t merge back yet.)”

The kid in blue immediately goes to the unconscious Gempa, lying on the ground with his head on Midoriya’s lap.

We’ve cleaned up some of his wounds and treated his leg so it won’t worsen. Midoriya quickly informs the blue kid— Halilintar said to call him Taufan— when he sees the other’s worried state. The bleeding has stopped, and his breathing is more stable.

Taufan sighs in relief at that. He offers his student a friendly smile. Well, thank you for taking care of him!

Now he's pointing at a certain someone with his thumb and quips a joke despite their situation. That loser over there is pretty sucks when it comes to first aid!

The one that is pointed at only replies blankly. Do you want me to put you in Gempa’s position?

That’s so cruel! I’m just joking, you know!” Taufan gawks dramatically.

Cut it off, you two. Says the one behind Shouta. We better take him to safety and get you to merge back. If you two start to lose your memory before Gempa wakes up, I’m the one who has to deal with it. Again.

Shouta stares at the kid, processing what he had just said.

The kid seems to notice his staring as his eyes are met with a pair of crimson ones. Oh, I’m Fang, by the way.

Don’t worry, as long as we don’t get separated too far, we can endure for at least three days. Also, that pro hero over there— Halilintar points at him. —already called the ambulance. It won’t take a while.

The kid— Fang— looks at him in disbelief. Huh. Really? Well, you don’t look like one. He says flatly.

Taufan, and unsurprisingly Shinsou, snicker at that.

Brats.

Shouta is going to ignore that last comment.

That’s right. We were in the middle of patrolling when we found these two, one of them already injured badly. But it seems like you two will also get some treatment.Shouta says to the newcomers.

Taufan only waves him off nonchalantly. Eh, that won’t be necessary! It’s just some scratches. It’ll heal in just a few days!”

And there is no way I’m going to let you kids roaming around looking like that.

"We've been through worse!Taufan insists.

Shouta's eyes twitches. "If you said that to make me feel better, it's not."

Taufan only pouts.

Their conversation is cut short as they hear the ambulance and police sirens gradually approaching their location. Shouta is about to prepare for their arrival when Halilintar suddenly glares at him.

You’re calling the police on us? For what reason, exactly? He says accusingly, and Taufan looks ready to hold Halilintar down.

Good grief, this kid. Shouta thought exasperatedly. It seems like this kid have some sort of trust issues. And anger issues, on top of that.

Nothing to worry about. I informed a friend of mine who is a detective about your situation. Shouta explains. The four of you are clearly not from here and got teleported just like that. He will ask you some questions, but not right now.

So, like, an interrogation?Fang asks for confirmation.

Shouta nods.

Not only that, Shouta makes eye contact with Halilintar. Quirk usage in public without a license like you did before is illegal. We will give you warnings, but that's also for later.

One moment they seem to understand. The next, they look even more confused than they are before. Taufan and Fang are glancing at each other, exchanging looks. While Halilintar frowns deeply, staring at the ground.

"(Halilintar, what did you do?)" Fang hissed something at Halilintar.

"(I don't know, I didn't do anything!)" He looks extremely offended at that.

Afterward, he turns his head to the hero before him.

I'm sorry, but what the hell is a quirk?

Chapter Text

Boboiboy was having a terrible week. It was terrible enough, even weeks before that— not that he’d tell anyone about it.

Two weeks after the event at Gur’latan, Boboiboy was given a new mission. The mission was to find and rescue a missing hero— who is is also one of the admirals of TAPOPS— that had disappeared for at least seven months.

Admiral Maskmana— his name sounded very familiar to him, somehow— was the first one who noticed the hero’s disappearance. He reported he had lost contact with him for three months, and the hero along with the power spheres in his custody were all gone.

A few months later, Maskmana and his team managed to track the lost power spheres, but still couldn’t find any trace of the hero and his sidekick. The hero was officially declared missing.

That led Boboiboy’s team to be included in the mission.

Had Boboiboy mentioned that the missing hero so happened to be his father, the Armored Hero Mechamato, whom he had lost contact with for months?

Sure, he knew that his father used to be a hero in the past, but that was on Earth and not an intergalactic one. And finding out that he was a TAPOPS member from this situation?

If he was displeased at these facts, he didn’t show it.

Or, well, maybe he did.

Because his friends kept sending him worried glances, Gopal purposely wondered out loud about the constant frowns on his face and even his superiors noticed that he had been on edge since the beginning of the mission. Boboiboy then realized he hadn’t told anyone that the hero they were looking for was his father.

He didn’t know if he wanted to.

It was bad enough that even Admiral Maskmana wanted to talk about him regarding this issue, but Boboiboy had his suspicion about that.

“(Did you know? About Mechamato’s family?)” Boboiboy asked the masked hero almost immediately.

That was pretty rude, considering this is your first time talking to the man. He scolded himself but refused to take his words back.

Maskmana was silent for a moment before answering. “(I do. I’m the only TAPOPS member who knows.)”

“(Why?)”

“(It was your father’s request. He’ll be more reassured if less people know about you being his son. I am one of the people he trusted most.)”

Boboiboy twitched at that.

Your father.

It has been a while since someone referred to him as his father’s son.

“(... And why didn’t he tell me?)”

Maskmana knew Boboiboy couldn’t see his face, but he stared at the kid regretfully. “(He had planned to tell you, when you get older. But because of this... predicament, it is inevitable that you had to find out this way.)”

Boboiboy gritted his teeth, nails digging into his palm. He wanted to be mad, but at who? TAPOPS probably didn’t even know that Mechamato had a family, let alone a son. And he knew better than to lash out at anyone else.

“(I understand if this mission takes a toll on you, if you want to step back from this mission—)”

“(No.)”

“(Boboiboy. This mission is too personal to you. I do not wish to enforce you to be on this mission.)”

“(I want to. I want to save my father myself.)” Boboiboy stated keenly.

Maskmana stared at the kid, not surprised by the determination. “(Very well. However, if I heard a word that this mission affected you negatively, I will stop you. You understand?)”

Boboiboy wanted to protest, but eventually, he gave a short nod. “(I understand.)”

“(Then I shall inform Admiral Tarung and Commander Koko Ci about your situation, so we can keep an eye on you.)”

Boboiboy frowned. “(I thought you said he didn’t want many people to know about this?)”

“(Your father and I had talked about this before, and he agreed to tell another person if we ever got into this circumstance.)” Maskmana explained.

“(You two... seem close.)” Boboiboy mulled. “(How did you meet my father?)”

The man stood stiff momentarily before letting out a short chuckle, then reached for his mask and uncovered his face.

Boboiboy gaped at the sight of the man before him, completely shocked.

“(You’re—)”

“(I’m not the only one, but I am one of the current Maskmana.)”

Boboiboy’s thoughts were filled with so many questions, but Uncl— Maskmana stopped him before he could ask any.

“(We can talk about this later, but I promise I’ll explain everything to you.)” The man offered him a gentle smile— one that Boboiboy familiar with. “(You can tell your friends about your father. They’ve been worried about you, you know?)”

Boboiboy faltered. Now that Maskmana mentioned his friends, he considered telling them the truth.

“(I’ll... I’ll think about that.)” Boboiboy finally said. “(And, um... sorry if I was... being rude earlier.)”

Maskmana shook his head, and pat Boboiboy’s head. “(We’ll bring him back. And Boboiboy?)”

“(Yeah?)”

“(You’re not alone in this. Talk to anyone, if you ever feel troubled. Can you do that?)”

Boboiboy gave a smile to the man, feeling a little lighter than before. He resisted the urge to tackle the man into the hug— had to keep the professionalism, he guessed.

Maybe he should’ve gone for that hug.

The next day, Boboiboy planned to tell his friend.

He didn't get the chance, though. They were in the middle of a mission when this person attacked him and his team. The person wore a mask and cape that covered their whole body and didn't say a word, which made him unable to discover their identity. He and his team soon realized that this person was aiming their attacks on Boboiboy.

So, Boboiboy then split into three.

If he was already feeling irritated for the whole week before, being in his Halilintar form made him even more irritated than usual. He attacked back, without holding back himself. His good mood from a talk with Maskmana yesterday was completely ruined.

Everything started to pissed him off.

But things went south after that. Halilintar saw Gempa was injured, and Taufan was far away from where they were. His sight went fuzzy as he felt a force pulled his body toward something. His friends were shouting his name, Taufan was screaming something along the line of ‘merge back!’, and Fang reached his hand out to him.

He remembered he was falling, catching Gempa’s unconscious body and landed on a random alleyway.

Now, he’s back on Earth, Japan, of all places.

And then this hobo-looking guy accuses him of doing something illegal— for using a quirk.

He doesn’t even know what a quirk is.

Shouta is completely dumbfounded, but being an underground hero for years taught him not to show it.

He thinks the kid might be joking, but Shouta knows that’s not the case. Halilintar raised his eyebrows, waiting for an answer.

You’re being serious. Shouta says.

Halilintar squints. And why would I not?

You guys seriously don’t know what a quirk is? Shinsou cuts in, looking bewildered.

The kids are as confused as they are.

Shouta is holding back a sigh. What about superpowers?

No one even used that term anymore, but this gets a reaction from them.

Why didn’t you just say that earlier? Yeah, we do have superpowers! Taufan beams.

What do you mean by ‘illegal to use in public’? Like, there’s a law for that? How come we never knew about it?Halilintar wonders out loud.

It’s as if every human here has superpowers. Fang comments.

Shouta is having a hard time comprehending that.

“Not everyone, but only 80% of the population.” Midoriya mutters to himself, but loud enough that everyone can hear him.

Taufan and Halilintar glance at Shouta, silently asking for a translation.

“What do you mean by that?” Fang asks in Japanese, making all of them turn their head simultaneously— taken aback by the sudden language switch.

What the— Fang, you can speak Japanese?! Since when?!

That’s not important right now—

It kinda is! Hey, what did he say? I wanna know!

Fang ignores his friend and repeats his question to Midoriya. “So. Superpowers— or, what was it again— quirk. You said 80% of the population has it? What does that mean?”

But Midoriya seems distracted, and the kid’s question remains unanswered.

“How the hell do you not know about a quirk?” Shinsou looks at him incredulously. “Alright, let me ask you some questions.”

Shouta has always known that Shinsou got a ‘talent’ for interrogation part— even without using his quirk, but this time it feels like it comes from his confusion alone. Considering they're trying to help kids around their age, he lets his students take control this time.

“Do you have a quirk— superpower?”

“Yeah?”

“Okay. How old were you when it manifested?”

Manifested? Well, I was around 10 when I first got my power, if that’s what you mean.”

That was incredibly late, and what does he mean by when he first got it?

“You’re not born with it?”

“What? No, I don’t.”

“... So how did you get your powers, then?”

Fang shrugs. “Alien technology.”

“I’m sorry, what?” Shouta can’t help but cut them off.

“I said what I said,” Fang states. “You’re telling me you were born with one?”

“Yes, I do,” Shinsou says. “So is Eraserhead and Midoriya over there. And literally everyone else.”

It’s Fang’s turn to look at them incredulously. “That doesn’t sound real.”

Taufan and Halilintar only watch the exchange between the two, clearly don’t understand anything, before Taufan speaks up.

Uhh... anyone wanna tell us what’s going on? We feel left out, you know. He waves his hand around, gathering everyone’s attention.

Apparently, almost everyone here has superpowers. Fang informs.

Well apparently, aliens exist.

What, you have people walking around with literal powers but alien existence surprised you?

Because that sounds like bullshit.

Fang scoffs. "That’s rude. As an alien myself, I am offended by your statement.

What the hell...

What the hell indeed.

Taufan lets out a snort. That was exactly our reaction when we first found out.

So, you two are not aliens as well?

Nope! We’re 100% human!

How come do you not know about quirks, then?

When you say everyone has a quirk, does that include other countries as well? Halilintar asks this time.

Yes?

That doesn’t make sense, then. We never heard such a thing exist, He explains. Even more, no one else besides us has superpowers from where we came.

That raises even more questions. Shouta rubs his face, beyond exhausted just by this listening to this conversation alone.

He is saved by the ambulance that just arrived.

The paramedics rush into the alleyway, taking the unconscious boy in Midoriya’s lap and putting him carefully on the stretcher. Some of them usher the other kids to the ambulance, but Halilintar tries to resist them. Shouta stops him before he can do anything further.

Look, kid. I know everything is very confusing right now, and I also have no idea what’s going on but please let them take care of you first. After that, we talk. Can you do that?" Shouta mentally prepares himself if the kid goes for another argument.

Taufan nudges Halilintar with his elbow, giving him a look.

Halilintar looks at them, before sighing in defeat. Fine, whatever.

Good. We’ll see you later then, kid.

Halilintar begrudgingly lets himself be taken away by the paramedics. Shouta watches them for a moment before turning on his heel and reporting the situation to the policeman.

This is not going to be easy.

They’re waiting in the hospital lobby.

Shouta is still pondering about their encounter with the strange kids, and thinking about it only makes his head pound. None of this makes any sense, and he knows his students think the same as him.

He glances at his students. He had told them to go back to U.A. but they insisted to come along, wanting to hear the answers themselves. Since they still have a few more hours before their schedule ends, he lets them anyway.

Shinsou rests his head on his hand, looking more tired than he usually is while Midoriya had this empty look ever since their conversation with the kids— and that worries him.

“You alright there, Midoriya?” Shouta asks. Midoriya who has been staring blankly at the wall startles, snapping back to reality.

Shouta watches as his student’s expression shifts into his usual one. “I uhh... I think I know what we are dealing with?” Midoriya says nervously.

Shouta blinks, not expecting that at all. “What do you mean, Midoriya?”

He fiddles with his fingers. “A few months ago, I was in an... unfortunate situation.”

“What kind of situation?” Shinsou interrupts.

“Yeah, Midoriya. Care to elaborate?”

“Ah... it was a kind of life-threatening situation.” Midoriya says sheepishly.

He looks at his student in disbelief. “Midoriya, what? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It was a long time ago!”

“Midoriya—”

“Anyways, back to the topic!”

Shouta sighs, but decides not to push his student any further. For now.

“So, I met this pro hero... he saved my life, you know? He tried to calm me down, so we talked about random stuff until we get into the topic about quirks.”

Midoriya paused for a second, before continuing. “The thing is, Sensei... he also had no idea what a quirk was.”

Shouta and Shinsou share a look. He motions to Midoriya to continue.

“And he also mentioned... about alien’s existence...”

“Ah. So he’s as crazy as them. Got it.” Shinsou points out dryly.

“Shinsou, let him finish.”

“Actually, what I’m going to say next might sound crazier,” Midoriya says.

Shouta feels another headache starts to arise.

“Long story short, we concluded that he came from another universe— where quirks never exist.”

“So, you’re saying—”

“That they also come from another universe? Yes.”

Silence.

“What the fuck?”

For his teacher's and classmate's sanities sake, Izuku doesn’t tell them that the man came from the year 2020— around 200 years from the past.

Taufan is lying in his hospital bed, changing his position too many times in the last hour because he’s so bored. “(Soo... What do you guys think? Wanna share theories about what happen to us?)”

He doesn’t get a response, with Fang is busy with the tablet he accidentally brought and Halilintar is busy glaring at the wall.

Taufan pouts. Gempa wouldn’t ignore him if he was here, but his counterpart is in a different room, still unconscious and under the doctor’s surveillance.

He continues anyway. “(I say we got isekai’d by that person—)”

“(You just want to use that word in a conversation.)” Halilintar looks at him, deadpan. “(Also, that’s absurd.)”

“(But that makes sense, doesn’t it?!)”

“(Not at all.)”

“(Actually, I’m going to agree with Taufan this time.)” Fang looks up from his tab, and Taufan grins smugly at Halilintar. “(I wouldn’t say ‘isekai’, but that was close.)

Fang lifts his tab, showing the screen to his friends but it only displays statics.

“(What’s up with that?)”

“(You know TAPOPS provides us network that would work even if we’re on a different planet, right?)” Fang turns off the screen and tosses his tab to his bed. “(It’s not working at all in here. I tried to connect to the internet, contact our allies and anything, but it ends up like this.)”

Taufan tilts his head. “(So, what’s your theory?)”

“(I say we got sent into a different reality. Like, a whole different universe.)”

Taufan looks excited, the total opposite of Halilintar who looks like he just heard the craziest thing ever.

“(That is too far-fetched—)”

“(Like Taufan said, that would makes sense.)” Fang cuts in. “(This universe has different rules than us. The green-haired guy said 80% of the population has quirks. Our world has found out about alien’s existence few years ago, yet they were very surprised about the fact.)”

“(Okay, fine— Let’s just say your theory is true. How did we end up here?)” Halilintar rubs his temples. “(TAPOPS is already busy with the search of da— Admiral Amato, and we don’t need to add another burden with us disappear as well.)”

Fang nods at that. “(I agree. We need to find out how to get back to our world, if my theory is right. But we need to collect more data, and maybe ask for help.)”

Halilintar glances at Taufan, who looks deep in thought. “(What’s on your mind?)”

Taufan hums, hand on his chin and slowly lifts his head. “(Do you guys think... do you think it’s possible that Admiral Amato was also got teleported into another universe...?)”

Fang and Halilintar’s eyes widen in realization.

“(That’s possible!)” Halilintar exclaims, much to Fang’s surprise. “(Remember when we tried to contact him, it went to statics? The same thing happened when you and Fang tried to contact our friends. Maybe, we can finally get in contact with him while we’re here.)”

“(You tried to contact the Admiral?)” Fang asks bemusedly. “(How did you even get his contact in the first place?)”

The duo suddenly goes silent.

“(... We completely forgot to tell him,)” Taufan whispers to Halilintar, who just nods blankly.

“(Tell me what, exactly?)”

Taufan scratches his cheek. “(Ah, well— the truth is... Admiral Amato is actually... our father...?)” He gives his friend a sheepish grin.

Fang stares at them in shock.

“(What?!)”

Chapter Text

Fang considers himself a rather observant person. He always makes sure to prepare himself to gather new information as much as he can, and keep his guard high. Though, his cool-headedness only ceases to exist when he’s around his friends.

Like right now.

“(Admiral Amato is actually... our father...?)” Taufan says sheepishly, while Halilintar only lets out a sigh.

“(What?!)”

A beat. Fang opens his mouth to say something, before closing it again.

Then,

“(Wait, wait. What?! Huh?!)”

“(Seriously? Mechamato being our father is more surprising than us being in a different world?)” Halilintar huffs.

“(We have evidence of being in another world. You never talked about your father at all!)” Fang says, in a mix of frustration and bewilderment.

His friend— the blue one— grins. “(You’re one to talk. Remember when you didn’t tell us Captain Kaizo was your brother—)”

“(That was years ago.)”

“(—so now we’re even!)” Taufan cackles. “(And to be fair, we also only found out two weeks ago. You can’t exactly blame us on this!)”

Fang is taken aback. “(He never told you before?)”

“(Eh, you can say that.)” Taufan shrugs, while Halilintar only clicks his tongue.

Fang thinks about the first time they were given the mission. Boboiboy immediately stormed out after they finished the briefing, and was detached for days. “(Huh. I guess the way you’ve been acting this past week makes sense, then. Why didn’t you tell us?)”

Taufan looks away, suddenly finds the walls more interesting. Halilintar does the same thing before he sucks a breath and stands. “(I’m going to check on Gempa. You guys wanna tag along?)”

“(I’ll go with you!)” Taufan exclaims almost immediately and runs to his counterpart.

Fang merely holds back a sigh. Okay, so, Boboiboy clearly doesn’t want to talk about his matter. He thinks, as he gets out of his bed and catches up with his friend.

Well, there is always another time.

“(Is it alright for us to go in?)” Taufan asks in a hushed voice.

They’re currently standing outside of Gempa’s room, not sure if they’re allowed to go in. The transparent window is the only thing that allows them to look inside the room.

If it isn’t for the various medical equipment attached to his friend, and the bandages covering his body, Gempa will look like he’s just asleep. It doesn’t matter that his counterparts are standing right next to him, Fang still feels a heavy feeling in his chest that he was unable to protect his friend.

“Shouldn’t you three be resting?” A monotone voice suddenly comes from their backs, making them jump.

It’s the pro hero they met before, his name is Eraserhead from what Halilintar had told him. He’s here with the other two young heroes that Fang doesn’t recall if they ever introduced themselves.

“We were just going to pay you a visit!” The green-haired guy says, waving at them.

Taufan nudges him, wanting to know what they say.

“We’re alright now. We have nothing to do, so we visit our friend.” Fang says. “I already know Eraserhead. I don’t know you two, though. Sorry.”

“This is Midoriya and Shinsou. They’re both my students, and they’re curious about your... case. If you are ready, we would like you to come with us to the police station.” Eraserhead says.

Fang widens his eyes, “Right now?”

Taufan starts to feel impatient, as he shakes Fang’s arm. “(Fang. Translation please?)”

“(They want us to go to the police station with them.)” Fang states.

Taufan tilts his head. “(Like, right now?)”

“(That’s what I’m asking.)”

No, we can’t go now, sorry.Halilintar confirms immediately.

Aizawa doesn’t look surprised. It doesn’t have to be right now. Though, may I know why?

We want to know about Gempa’s condition first—

That can be arranged.

And to be frank? I don’t really wanna go to the police station. Halilintar simply says. Taufan cackles. The hero looks two times more tired than he already is, and Fang kind of feels bad for him.

“Sorry, but my friends here can’t be separated from their— uh, brother, for a long time, so I think it’s best if we wait for Gempa to wake up first,” Fang explains.

Fang doesn’t know how exactly the power system works in this universe, and he carefully tries not to out his friend’s power just yet.

Eraserhead only raises an eyebrow, before a doctor walks toward them and gets their attention. “Are you a family of Gempa?” He asks. Both Taufan and Halilintar react to the name.

Fang nods to the doctor. “Yes, these two are his brothers. They don’t speak Japanese. I’m their friend.”

“Ah, yes. I am aware of that. My name’s Dr. Kagami, and my quirk allows me to make other people understand my native language with physical touch.” He explains.

“Though, they won’t be able to read or write unless they learn about it themselves. I handle a lot of foreign patients, that’s why I’m here.” Dr. Kagami then reaches his hands toward Taufan and Halilintar. “May I?”

They both look at Fang, and he explains shortly. “(He wants to use his quirk on you, so you two can understand Japanese.)”

“(Are there... any side effects?)” Halilintar asks cautiously.

“My friend asks if there are any side effects.” Fang translates immediately.

“Just a little. You might have a hard time switching back to using your mother language when you speak for a little while. You can still understand it, but it will be hard to speak it out loud.”

Fang translates it back to his friends. Halilintar and Taufan look at each other before the latter shrugs. “(Well, it’s just for a little while, right?)”

They finally nod in unison, and reach their hand to meet Dr. Kagami’s hand. Their hands glow for a few moments before it stops.

“... I don’t feel any difference.” Halilintar finally says.

Taufan gasps at him, “Hali, you just speak Japanese!” He gasps again, “Hey, I just speak Japanese!”

“This feels kinda weird,” Halilintar grunts.

“Not as weird as whatever is going on with you four.” Shinsou teases.

“We can understand that now, you know.”

“Alright, now that we’re settled,” Dr. Kagami cuts in. “I would like to speak to you two about your brother’s condition first. Please come with me.” He says while stepping into Gempa’s room.

Taufan looks confused at the statement. “...Brother? Did he mean Gem— Umph?!” Fang quickly covers Taufan’s mouth, before dragging the two away from the heroes.

“(Listen, Boboiboy.)” He whispers. “(We don’t know how this whole superpower thing works in this universe. Try to keep a secret about your power for a while, especially the split. And just pretend that you three are twins, got it?)”

Halilintar simply nods while Taufan exclaims. “Smart thinking! I call dibs on being the older— ow, ow, ow!”

“Lower your voice! And you speak Japanese just now, dumbass!” Halilintar whisper-yelling as he pinches Taufan’s arm. “Besides, it’s obvious that I’m the older one.”

Fang groans at the small banter. “(Just go now, you two!)” He lightly pushes his friends to follow Dr. Kagami into Gempa’s room.

“Your brother isn’t healing well.” The doctor says, matter-of-factly, making the duo stand still.

“He has a concussion, a minor stab wound on his left side, and his right leg is broken. We’ve healed some of the minor cuts with our quirks. Normally, a patient like him should’ve healed properly in a few hours, but your brother shows no signs of getting better.”

Halilintar slowly asks, “What do you mean by that?”

“Your brother... his body uses an amount of energy for something else, and that keeps him from healing properly. It’s like he’s currently using his quirk at the moment.” The doctor sighs.

Halilintar and Taufan widen their eyes. “We are so doomed.” The latter whispers. Halilintar only gives him a single nod.

Thankfully Dr. Kagami doesn’t pay attention to that. “Can you explain to me what kind of quirk he has? It might help us figure out the right treatment for him.”

“Well, it is true, that he’s using his powe— err, quirk, right now.” Halilintar starts carefully. “It’s just... not easy to, turn off. Especially if he’s unconscious.”

We need to merge back as soon as possible, without anyone noticing. Halilintar thinks.

“... I see. The hero outside, Eraserhead, can I speak to him about your brother’s condition, then?”

“Eh? Why?” Taufan asks.

“From what I’ve been told, his quirk allows him to cancel other people’s quirk. I think he can help your brother.”

Halilintar feels dread. He doesn’t think that’s a good idea, whether the hero’s quirk will work or not. “Will it be okay if we tell him ourselves?”

“Of course. Anything you’re comfortable with. Please let us know anything that can help regarding your brother’s healing process.” Both of them give him a nod, as the doctor walks out towards the door.

The only way for Gempa to heal right now is by merging back, but they have no idea how to explain the whole traveling-into-another-universe thing.

“Will do.” They decide to say, fully aware they won’t.

Halilintar and Taufan let out a long sigh after Dr. Kagami left the room.

Taufan walks to Gempa’s left side. He reaches Gempa’s hand and holds it tightly. “Do you think he’ll get better without us merging back, Hali?”

Halilintar purses his lips, “Well, based on what the doctor told us, I don’t think so. I’ve tried to sleep earlier, but I think it’s the adrenaline keeping me awake.” Halilintar goes to Gempa’s right side, caressing his hair gently. “We can ask the doctor to drug us, but that’s going to raise a bunch of questions.”

Taufan ponders, before he slowly grins. “You know... there is a way we can merge back, Hali,” Halilintar knows that face. He feels a headache coming.

“We can fight each other until we both pass out!”

“Absolutely no.” Halilintar answers without a beat.

Taufan shrugs, “Won’t hurt to try.” He gently puts down Gempa’s hand and pats it, before running towards the door. “I’m going to ask Fang, then!”

“Wait a minute, you little—!” Halilintar halts. He takes a quick look at Gempa’s face before chasing Taufan down the hallway.

Why do you have to be unconscious at times like this, Gempa?! Halilintar thinks miserably.

Fang is now left alone with the heroes in the hospital lobby. It’s not that Fang doesn’t trust his friends, but he thinks it might be best if he went in with them.

“So.” The purple-haired guy— Shinsou— breaks the silence. “What planet are you from? Mars, Jupiter?”

Yep. He really should’ve just followed his friends.

“Shinsou-kun...” The other kid— Midoriya— says timidly. “Sorry about that, uhm, Fang, right?”

“What? I seriously wanna know.” Shinsou says in defense.

Fang rolls his eyes. “It’s not on the solar system. My home planet was called GogoBugi.”

Midoriya tilts his head. “... Was?”

“It was destroyed when I was a kid.” Fang answers nonchalantly.

They fall into silence for a moment. “And that’s why you moved to Earth?” Great, now even Eraserhead joins in.

“Well, no, I was 10 the first time I moved to Earth alone. And that was only because of a mission.” Fang doesn’t bother to explain thoroughly.

“What kind of 10-year-old went for a mission, on a different planet alone?” Shinsou asks, appalled.

“Heh, you should ask that to my brother. He was a big asshole back then, if I’m being honest.” Fang simply shrugs. “What’s with the sudden interest? You don’t seem to believe me before. How will you know whether I’m lying or not?”

“I can tell that you’re telling the truth, kid.” A new voice emerges from their back, making them jump— except for Eraserhead.

I keep letting my guard down. So much for being observant! Fang lightly scolds himself.

“Tsukauchi,” Eraserhead greets the man. He turns to Midoriya and Shinsou. “Next session, we’re practicing observation skills. Especially to your surroundings.”

Hai, Sensei...” They respond sheepishly.

Oh? Fang thinks as he watches the brief interaction. Interesting. I wonder what’s that about?

“What are you doing here, Detective?” Eraserhead questions. “Shouldn’t we meet you at the office?”

“Oh, well, I was on my way back to the police station, but since I heard you are still here, I might as well stop by. Midoriya, we meet again.” He nods to Midoriya.

Midoriya bows politely, while Shinsou beside him mouthing a ‘You know him, Midoriya?’

It seems like Eraserhead thought the same. “... Of course, you two know each other.” Eraserhead rolls his eyes. “Why am I even surprised.”

Tsukauchi simply ignores the comment. “So, this is the kid you talk about?” The detective turns his attention to Fang. “My name’s Tsukauchi Naomasa, and I will be the one who carry out your case. It’s nice to meet you.”

“Likewise,” Fang says shortly.

“There are... four of you, is that correct?” Tsukauchi asks, making sure.

“Yes, that’s true.” Not exactly true, since his friend is technically still the same one person.

For a moment, the detective’s expression turns into something Fang can’t decipher, before he composure himself and smiles at Fang. Somehow, it makes Fang feel uneasy.

“So, how are your friends doing? If you are unable to come to the police station, we can do the interrogation in one of the rooms here.”

“We’ll be okay with that.” Fang ensures. “The two of them are okay, they’re still talking to the doctor about his— err, their brother, condition.”

Another uneasiness comes to Fang with the way Tsukauchi smiles.

A sound of footsteps echoes in the hallways, Fang turns his head and sees Taufan running towards them. “Hey, hey, Fang! Hear me out!”

There’s a wide grin across Taufan’s face, and Fang knows him well enough to know that it’s not a good sign. “Calm down. How’s Gempa doing?”

“Oh, right. He’s dying.”

What.

“Huh?!”

“No one’s dying, dumbass!” Halilintar appears behind Taufan and gives a smack on the latter’s head. “And no, about that thing earlier, just no.”

“I just want to ask Fang to whack us with a pan until we both pass out!” Taufan exclaims as he rubs his head.

Do I even wanna know? Fang wants to ask. “I’m not going to do that.” Is what he manages to say.

Halilintar stares at Taufan, contemplating, “Eh, still a better idea than us fighting each other. Fang, hit our head as hard as you can until we both pass out.” He says in a serious tone.

“You two are nuts.” Fang grimaces. “May I remind you that there are audience behind us, and you two are speaking clearly in Japanese right now?”

The duo blinks, before taking notice of their surroundings. Eraserhead stares at them unimpressed, the opposite of Shinsou who looks at them amusedly.

“Is Gempa-kun doing okay?” And then there’s Midoriya, who Fang can hear the concern in his voice. “Are you two doing okay?”

“Gempa-kun! Hali, he says Gempa-kun!” Taufan whisper-squealing to his counterpart.

“We’re fine, Gempa’s fine. Well, he’s not, but he’ll be fine.” Halilintar answers. He darts his eyes to the detective. “And who’s this?”

“I’m Detective Tsukauchi, and I’m here to ask you a few questions regarding your situation.” The detective introduces himself again. “Since these three were the ones that found you, they will come with me as well.”

“Well, I don’t want to go to the police station,” Halilintar crosses his arms.

“That’ll be alright. I’ve got permission to use one of the rooms, so please come with me.” The leads them the way. “No need to worry, since Eraser told me your case is a bit... unique, I’m just going to ask you some simple questions.”

They walk behind the detective, with Eraserhead and his students walking behind them. It’s like they are being watched, or something.

“(How’s Gempa really doing?)” Fang asks.

“He’s not doing well, and because we’re not merging, he’s not healing properly.” Halilintar lowers his voice, still unable to switch freely to Malay. “And you said not to mention about the splitting, so we didn’t. Even if I did, I won’t be able to explain the whole situation we’re in.”

“(That’s why you try to make yourselves pass out?)” Fang makes a face.

“Sure did!” Taufan cheerfully says.

“(You can still endure it, right? After this interrogation, we’ll find a way to get you to merge back.)”

“We’ll be fine! If we did get forgetful, we’ll be taken under your care.” Taufan offers mindlessly.

Fang wants to strangle him. “(That’s what I’m trying to avoid!)”

Now they are being led into a spacious room, with two sofas facing together and a table in between. Fang and his friends sit face-to-face with Detective Tsukauchi, while the heroes stand quietly behind him. Taufan looks around stiffly, and Halilintar tries to hide his anxiousness.

“First time doing an interrogation?” Tsukauchi breaks the ice.

Fang perks up, “No, not really. Usually, we’re the ones who did the interrogating.”

“Really? What kind of case?” Tsukauchi asks curiously.

“Nothing big. Oh! One time, there was an arson in our city so we went down for an investigation.” Taufan excitedly retells.

“Yeah? How did it go?” Tsukauchi probes.

“It turns out the arsonist was closer to us than we thought,” Fang says as he stares at his friends intently. “... Really close.” His friends stifle some laughs.

“It’s not funny.”

“Eh, it was a pretty funny plot twist.” Taufan grins. “A bit embarrassing too, if you ask.” Fang rolls his eyes.

Well, at least they look more relaxed now, Tsukauchi notices. “Alright, are we good to start now?” The three of them simply nod, and Tsukauchi gives a satisfied smile.

“Can you tell me your names first?” Tsukauchi starts.

“My name’s Fang. This is Taufan, and that’s Halilintar.”

“And which one of you used your quirk publicly?” Tsukauchi asks to the point. Taufan and Fang immediately point at Halilintar.

“Tch.” Halilintar scowls. “We didn’t even know what a quirk was until 5 hours ago.”

There’s a glint in Tsukauchi’s eyes. He moves his body forward ever so slightly. “And what do you know about quirks?”

“It’s the same thing as superpowers? Midoriya-kun said that 80% of the population has it. And from what I understand, people were born with it?” Fang answers unsurely.

Tsukauchi nods, “Can you tell us how you got your superpowers?”

“We got it from a high-tech robot called Power Sphere. Every Power Sphere possesses different powers, and able to give their powers to different individuals, like us, for example.” Fang observes their reaction. Tsukauchi seems to believe them.

What catches Fang’s attention is how Midoriya reacts. It’s the way his eyes go wide in realization, and slowly lowers his gaze to the floor, deep in thought. Fang makes a mental note of that. He returns his attention to the detective.

“And... what are your powers?”

“I can manipulate shadows. These two here, Taufan manipulates the wind and Halilintar manipulates lightning.”

“And the other one?”

“His name’s Gempa. He manipulates the earth.” Halilintar adds.

“From what I’ve been told, you two—” Tsukauchi refers to Halilintar and Taufan, “And the other one— Gempa, look alike. I’m assuming you are triplets?”

“... Yeah. That’s correct.” Halilintar answers blankly.

There’s another glint in Tsukauchi’s eyes, Fang can’t help but notice.

“What were you doing before you got teleported?” Tsukauchi changes the topic.

“We were fighting someone, but we didn’t know who that was.” Taufan responds.

“A villain?”

“Well, probably? They were attacking us at first, before opening a portal that sends us here.”

“And where did the fight happen?”

“... Space?” Taufan says sheepishly.

Tsukauchi gives a gleeful smile. “Thank you for answering the questions. Now, let me explain my quirk to you.” He fixes his position. “I can detect lies from other people. Even if it’s a half-truth, I can still detect it.”

The colors are drained from their faces. “Oh, shit.” Taufan says, eloquently.

“This is something I find interesting. You’re answering the questions truthfully, except for one thing. When I talked to Fang-kun and he said ‘brother’, I detected a lie from him. You two look alike, so I thought you were twins.” Tsukauchi explains. “But then Halilintar-kun didn’t answer my question truthfully, about you three being triplets.”

“Wait. So, you’re not brothers?” Shinsou wonders out loud. “But you three looks the same?”

Eraserhead and Midoriya give full attention to the ‘twins’, expecting explanations.

“We are the same person.” Taufan blurts out.

“Taufan!”

“I can’t lie any longer!” Taufan whines. “So basically, Halilintar, Gempa and I are the same person, we can split ourselves into three, while possessing different powers and traits. There!” He finishes with a satisfied huff.

Halilintar facepalms. Fang lets out a groan.

“...We don’t know how the power system works in this universe, so we decided to lie, just in case.” Fang finally explains.

“In this universe?” Tsukauchi repeats.

Fang sighs in defeat. “We believe we come from a different universe, with how different the people look here, and this whole quirk thing...” He trails off.

“And the alien thing, too, I assume?” Tsukauchi adds on.

Fang merely nods. Tsukauchi heard their conversation, it seems.

“So Midoriya’s theory is correct, after all.” Eraserhead sums up. Everyone is now staring at Midoriya.

Tsukauchi blinks slowly, “Something you forgot to tell me, Eraser?”

“I didn’t forget, I just decided to tell you later in case we have no leads.” Eraserhead rolls his eyes. “Before you came here, Midoriya theorized these kids came from an alternate universe where quirks never existed.”

Midoriya rubs his head shyly, “Ah, well... long story short, a man saved my life, long time ago. Some things weren’t added up when we talked. He also didn’t know what a quirk was. These three reacted the same way that person did... so I just assume it’s the same case.”

Fang squints his eyes. There is no way... right? “When was that, exactly? When did you meet that man?” He asks urgently.

“Around... three months ago?”

Fang stands from his seat and walks towards Midoriya. “Do you remember what he looks like?”

“Thought you’re the one who should be interrogated, not the other way round.” Shinsou comments.

Eraserhead sends a look to Tsukauchi, which the latter only hums, “Let them be.”

Midoriya closes his eyes, furrowing his brows. “I remember... He has some white streaks in his hair. He was with a— I mean, he’s wearing a red armor.”

Halilintar and Taufan glance at each other. Fang squints his eyes, “Is he with someone else?”

“With a robot... I’m assuming it’s a Power Sphere...?”

“What’s his name?” Fang finally asks.

“His name is Amato-san! I only remember faintly about his appearance, but he was really nice.” Midoriya smiles at the memory. “Do you know him Fang-kun?”

Fang lets out a breath he doesn’t know he’s holding. “I never met him personally, but I know him.” He turns his head to his friend. “We found a lead. Admiral Amato was here!”

Everyone in the room wonders what happens. But, both of his friends show no signs of recognition.

Instead, Taufan asks, “Who’s Amato?”

Fang’s eyes twitch. “You gotta be fucking kidding me!”

Fang knows that this is bound to happen, but it's still too soon

Did something happen? Is it because one of them is badly injured? Is Gempa doing alright now?

Fang wants to ask Midoriya further about Admiral Amato, but right now he has an issue to handle.

“Please tell me you’re joking right now.” His friends only stare at him in confusion. Fang knows he already gets his answer.

“What’s going on?” Eraserhead inquires.

“Taufan. Do you remember my name?” Fang suddenly asks.

Taufan looks at him incredulously. “Of course, I do! What kind of friend forgets their own friend’s name? You’re Kaizo.”

Fang resists the urge to punch him.

“The hell are you on about? That’s obviously Ah Meng.” Halilintar casually adds.

“This happens.” Fang stares blankly at Eraserhead. “If he split for too long, he’ll slowly lose his memories.”

Taufan waves his hand. “Nonsense! I feel perfectly fine right now.”

“What’s your father’s name, then?” Fang challenges.

Taufan confidently shouts, “His name is Dad!”

Fang gives an unimpressed stare at his friend. “Tsukauchi-san, please tell me they’re lying and only messing with me right now.”

Tsukauchi shakes his head apologetically, “Sorry, kid. But I sense no lies from them.”

Fang buries his face into his hands.

“What can we do to help?” Eraserhead offers.

Fang slowly raises his face. “Oh. Actually, they are planning to make themselves pass out, either by fighting each other or by me smacking the back of their heads. Bad ideas, but now I’m leaning toward the second choice.”

“I prefer the first one!” Taufan says cheerfully.

“No one’s going to fight anyone.” Eraserhead stops them.

Midoriya raises his hand, “Sorry, but... how are they passing out will help?”

“So they all can merge back.” Fang clarifies. “When Boboiboy’s splitting and one of them passed out, the others have to be out of energy as well so they can automatically recombine.”

“Boboiboy?!” Midoriya shouts, making everyone turn their heads to him. “He’s Boboiboy?! This entire time?!”

Shinsou raises his eyebrows. “... Who’s Boboiboy?”

The red and blue duo raise their hands. “I’m Boboiboy Halilintar.”

“I’m Boboiboy Taufan!”

“And I’m getting sick of you two.” Fang deadpans.

“You know... I can help them sleep. With my quirk.” Shinsou suggests.

Midoriya perks up, “Oh, that’s a great idea, Shinsou-kun!”

Fang blinks twice. “What’s your quirk?”

“Hm. What’s your name?”

“Huh? My name—” Suddenly, Fang feels his body and mind freeze.

“Go back to sit beside your friends.”

He feels his mind is clouded, like he’s somewhere between conscious and unconscious. When he regains his awareness back, he is now sitting in the middle of Halilintar and Taufan, with them staring at him in shock.

Fang blinks twice. “I see. Mind control?”

“Brainwashing, to be exact.”

“Huh. Impressive.” Fang lets out.

“Why, thank you.”

His friends are now switching their attention to Shinsou and looking at him in awe. “That’s your quirk? How did you do that?”

“That’s so cool! Us next!” Taufan gushes.

“That’s kind of the whole point.” Fang says, exasperate. “Sorry, Detective, but I think it’s best if we continue after my friends get better.”

Tsukauchi nods in understanding, “Of course. Besides, I already get the big picture now. Eraserhead will inform me when you’re ready.”

“Right. Shinsou, Midoriya.” They both turn their heads to their teacher. “Escort them back to their rooms. I need to talk to Tsukauchi about something.”

Midoriya and Shinsou nod at the same time. “Alright, Fang-kun, Boboiboy-kun, let’s go.” Midoriya smiles at them.

“Just call me Fang, please.”

“Ah, alright then!”

As soon as the kids leave the room, Tsukauchi opens his mouth, “This is about the vigilante, isn’t it.”

Shouta smirks. “You catch on that quick.”

“As soon as Midoriya described him, I saw this one coming.” Tsukauchi shakes his head, “When was the last time you saw him?”

“Last week. No signs of him after that.” Shouta puts his hands in his pockets. “His appearance matches Midoriya’s description. And the time he first appeared. Which was three months ago.”

Tsukauchi rubs his temple. “These kids seem to know him, too.”

“We can ask them about it later.”

Tsukauchi flips his note, “So. His real name is Amato?”

“Pretty suitable, don’t you think? His vigilante name is MechAmato, after all.”

Notes:

A slightly longer chapter than the previous ones

Fun fact : I write this chapter (and a prequel to this fic) right after I finished the previous chapter, it just took me so long to edited them ahaha;;
