So basically Tim Drake was persuaded to become Robin by Alfred
Also, Tim Drake is broke in this fic.
Also-also, Tim Drake's parents are dead and there's debts he has to pay and when Alfred knew of Tim’s cleverness in getting Batman to stop endangering himself ONE time while hiding in the shadows, Alfred confronted the boy (cuz he knows it was him despite Tim trying his best to hide from the shadows while he helped Batman) and made a deal with him.
The deal was that Alfred will pay Tim if he continues to work as Robin and act similarly to Jason but not all the way through, Alfred would also pay the debts.
Tim accepts, he doesn't want to Robin but now that he is, he can help as much people as he can while getting paid, getting food, and getting to keep his manor.
Also, Tim’s parents are great parents, they were about to surprise Tim about how they were going to settle to somewhere place else that is safe and be more attentive to Tim but they died in a plane crash before they could go back to Tim and Time never knows this fact.

Summary
Tim Drake ends up getting killed by Jason when he goes and confronts Tim and tries to get him to stop being Robin. Once Tim sees behind the mask of the man who is beating him, he knows his job is no longer needed in keeping the family together, so he lets death come to him.
But only for him to wake up and be in the manor, watching as everyone continues their lives as a family again and for him to just watch, remain where he is as a ghost.
