Clint stood in the nursery as tears ran down his cheeks when he saw the mural on the wall. He couldn't imagine who had done this for his and Phil's baby girl who should be born any day now. He'd painted the walls and ordered the furniture that should be here at the end of the week, but he'd never thought about hiring an artist.
The mural was of a little red-haired, blue-eyed girl in a yellow rain coat and black galoshes under a rainbow surrounded by pairs of animals in front of what was obviously Noah's Arc. It was precious. He wished Phil was there to see it.
"Jarvis," Clint said.
"Yes, Hawkeye," Jarvis said.
"Do you know who did this for us?" Clint asked.
"Captain Rogers couldn't sleep last night and requested that I order him some paint," Jarvis said. "He knew you were staying with Miss Romanoff last night and wanted to do something for you and the baby. He said if you don't like it, he'd paint over it for you."
"Steve did this for us?" Clint asked.
"Yes, Hawkeye," Jarvis said. "I take it it meets with your approval."
"It's beautiful," Clint said. I think everything, but the furniture is done. I finished the baby-proofing a couple of days ago. This time of year Phil and I used to do the spring cleaning, but everything is spotless. I guess nesting pays off. 'Do you know where Steve is?"
"Captain Rogers is in the media room," Jarvis said, "with Sir and Dr. Banner."
"Thanks, J," Clint said.
"My pleasure," Javis said.
Clint let himself into the hallway and rode the elevator to the communal floor and went into the media room. When Steve saw him he stood-up from the couch.
"I hope I didn't overstep," Steve said.
Tony and Bruce looked at each other both looking confused and curious.
Clint threw his arms around Cap's neck and buried his damp face in his neck. "It's perfect," Clint said. "The little girl looks just like I imagine her. I just wish Phil could see it. He'd be over the moon that Captain America painted our baby's mural."
"I thought it was the least I could do," Steve said, "since I never got around to signing his trading cards."
"You did get to meet him," Clint said. "I'm glad, especially for him. He must have tripped over his tongue when he met you. He had a crush on you since he was old enough to have a crush."
"I didn't know he had a crush on me," Steve said. 'It does explain what Natasha meant."
"What did Nat say?" Clint asked.
"She said she thought Coulson was going to swoon when they found me alive in the ice," Steve said.
Clint laughed. "I wish I was there to see him meet you. There's few things as adorable as fanboy Phil."
