There was a group of demons attacking flower fruit mountain wanting to steal some relics that wukong annoyingly hoarded in a room the whole brotherhood is there except for DBK because it is his day off (something about wanting to spend more time with his son? flaker). While wukong and Macaque are fighting side by side macaque hears some cooing coming from wukong.
Macaque stares at wukong suspiciously and sees he’s holding something against his chest. “Oh please tell me you didn’t…” on cue, Mk sticks out his little head and excitedly yells out “BABA!” as Wukong tries to block an attack.
Macaque gasps “ WHY IS MK HERE!? YOU CAN'T BRING A CHILD TO A FIGHT!” Wukong dodges an attack and looks at his moonlight “ well I couldn’t leave him at home alone none of the mother monkeys were available- MANGO CATCH”
Macaque was shocked to see wukong throwing their child towards him (was this monkey insane?!) Macaque caught Mk and saw that wukong was now fighting off three demons on his own while he was holding a giggling monkey. Macaque looks down at Mk and smiles “your father is insane never be like him.” Mk looks at him confused before wukong yells out “MAC BEHIND YOU” and Macaque throws Mk in the air and shouts “PENG CATCH”
Peng was battling some winged demons above them when he heard the command and immediately follows not realizing what he is catching until he looks down at it.
“What the? What kind of fool brings a child to a battle?!” he exasperates
“Who do you think,” Macaque said with frustration now back to back with wukong surrounded by demons.
“Okay, I'm sorry jeez…”
“Wukong I swear to the heavens if anything happens to that kid I’m tossing you into the ocean”
“WHAT?!”
Macaque went and charged at the hoard of demons on his left while Wukong attacked to the right.
“Moonlight. love. you’re joking right?” wukong asks with pleading eyes
Macaque looks up and sees peng struggling with a toddler in his arms
Macaque glares at Wukong “I am going to kill you when this is over I don’t care how immortal you are”
Wukong gulps as he battles a hand full of demons.
Wukong looks up and his eyes grow wide when he sees that Peng was tackled in the air dropping Mk from his arms. Wukong shapeshifts into a bird but was grabbed by a snake demon before he can fly up and catch Mk.
“AZURE CATCH MK TO YOUR LEFT!” Wukong yells in alarm
Azure looks confusedly at wukong before looking up and sees Mk freefalling toward the ground. Panicked the lion quickly pushes back the demon he was fighting and jumps up to catch Mk. Once the child is in his arms he sees that Mk is having the time of his life giggling and smiling at the situation he’s in.
Azure looks at Mk and smiles before looking at Wukong
“ I know that Macaque would never bring Qi Xiaotian to a fight so I imagine this was Wukong’s doing?”
“OKAY, I GET IT gods I’m never going to live this down” Wukong rolls his eyes as he chops off a demoness’ arm.
Peng lands near Azure fighting alongside Yellow Tusk to make sure Azure and the kid stay unharmed. Once Peng and Yellow Tusk were able to defeat most of the demons surrounding them the elephant comments “Couldn’t you have left him with princess Iron Fan”
Wukong looks at Yellow Tusk with wide eyes before smacking himself in the face “ NOW YOU TELL ME”
Peng narrows his eyes and lets out a sigh “This chimp really is an idiot”
Before Wukong can comment on the insult he was struck and knocked down by a demon with a spear and lets out a yelp. Macaque turns around and sees Wukong on the ground with a fox demon on top of him. Macaque starts to charge at the fox but was thrown back by a boar demon with two heads. Wukong opened his eyes to see the fox lifting his spear and promptly stabbing him in the shoulder, and he lets out a shriek. Everyone looks toward the noise and sees that Wukong has been stabbed, but before anyone could react there was a beam of bright light and the fox demon completely disintegrated. The battlefield was silent for a moment till someone yelled out “RETREAT” and everyone ran. Next Wukong looked to where the beam came from and sees a very disgruntled Mk with golden eyes and a shocked jaw-dropped Azure holding him.
Peng stares at the child and then looks at Macaque
“ Well that was an unexpectedly delighting surprise maybe the child is more like Wukong than we thought”
Macaque was stunned while Wukong looked ecstatic… well as ecstatic one can be with a spear through his shoulder but he’ll be fine he’s immortal.
“That’s my kid! I knew he took after me.”
Macaque glares at Wukong walking up to him and grabbing onto the spear that was still lodged into his shoulder.
“Um, moonlight what are you-”
Before Wukong can even finish his sentence Macaque yanked the spear out of his shoulder and threw it aside. The golden monkey let out a shout of pain before snaring at his partner
“Hey GENTLE that hurt!” Wukong pouts glaring at him.
Macaque gives Wukong a calm smile before yanking him up from his scarf and bringing him close. The sage let out a yelp before returning a nervous grin. Macaque then whispers in his ear “if you ever pull this dumb shit again I will personally make sure the company that makes your peach chips closes down” He then drops wukong on the ground and walks to Azure grabbing the angry child from his arms. Mk immediately started calming down and smiling once again happy to be in his father’s arms. The child then let out a worried chirp looking for his other parent, like on cue Wukong appears right next to Macaque.
“Hey, bud good job protecting your old man you're going to be quite the hero one day” Wukong proudly said as he pats Mk’s head. Mk looks up at him with glee while ebony monkey scoffs “Wukong, don’t encourage this he could have gotten hurt or worse! He is not ready to witness what goes on in battle let alone take part in it he’s only 5.”
Wukong looks away anxiously realizing that Macaque was right what was he thinking? He retracted his hand from Mk’s head and put it on Macaque’s cheek “ I know… I’m sorry sugar plum next time I’ll leave him with Iron Fan, promise” Wukong kisses Macaque on the cheek and gently smiles at him. The shadow can never stay mad at him for long so he sighed and returned a soft smile “ …Okay thank you”
“Ahem!” The monkeys turn to the noise and see Azure and the rest of the brotherhood idling by. Azure is the first to speak “ Now that you guys are done should we discuss Xiaotian’s newfound power clearly the child has unique abilities that can rival heaven which means…” Yellow Tusk and Peng gave concerned glances to the monkey family realization dawning on them.
Peng spoke softly “ The child may have just alerted all of heaven letting out that laser” Yellow tusk puts his hand on Azure’s shoulder giving him a worried stare before looking up at the monkeys.
“That means he may have just put a target on his back” Yellow tusk stated with a grimace
Wukong and Macaque looked at their brothers with alarm just now realizing that after all these years of making sure Mk was off of Heaven’s radar this sudden burst of energy will for sure alert the celestials above. Wukong grabs hold of Macaque’s hand and gives a comforting squeeze “Hey if they come to investigate I’ll handle it, you and Mk don’t have to worry about anything” Even with Wukong’s seemingly comforting words Macaque can sense the unease in his voice he looks down at Mk’s innocent smile not knowing the danger he might have just put himself in. The shadow smiles and looks back at his partner “I trust you Wukong” he puts his forehead on the golden monkey before looking back at the rest of the group looking for any sort of reassurance from his brothers.
Peng saw the look that Macaque gave them and shook his head “Don’t worry rat we would never let anyone harm the little monkey”
“We would fight for him till the end… anything for our nephew” Azure declared with a grin walking up to Mk and resting his hand on his head. Mk looked at the lion with beaming eyes that can melt any demon’s heart. Yellow tusk looks up at the sky glaring with intense hate “if heaven ever sets foot on this mountain to intend harm on Xioatian we will not lose the fight a second time.” Yellow tusk quickly grabs all his brothers and puts them on his back and lets out a grin “Now how about we celebrate the child’s first victory with a feast!” he booms.
Azure, Peng, Wukong, and even Mk cheered at this declaration and Macaque gave a hidden smile knowing that he and his family have reliable support if things go awry.
Tonight is the time for celebration nothing can go wrong… right?
