Summary
It had started with a prayer.
One of many, floating from the mortals below to the glittering heavens. In the age of reason, so few people prayed. They may give their offerings and pay lip service, but Gods were privy to the truth of their hearts, and many had lost the faith in prayers and in their Gods. Though they reigned, Shi Qingxuan knew all they had was held in a tenuous grasp.
It was so easy to be forgotten. Whenever a prayer reached her ears, Shi Qingxuan was quick to throw herself into work. However, this prayer had led her to something she would have never expected.
To touch down in a field of unchecked growth was already strange in the modern world; stranger still was the verdant vines growing on what was once developed land. The people who had built here had clearly fled the encroaching wilderness. Roping vines covered buildings, and smartly red flowers budded from the ground. When Shi Qingxuan had touched one, its petals had reshaped into the form of a slim, nude woman. A syrupy finger had traced her lips before Ming Yi had pulled her away. Then, she had lifted them into the air on a summoned breeze and deposited them here.
