Sam sighed as she walked the streets of New York. She slowly reached inside her coat so she could reach the inner pocket. She grazed her fingers down the knife and pulled her hand back out.
After Ghostface came to New York and threatened her family, again, she had always been on high alert. So maybe after her encounter with Bailey and the whole shrine he had to…worship Ghostface killers, she took a little souvenir with her.
When she first took Billy’s bowie knife with her it felt insanely heavy in her jacket pocket. A reminder of what she was capable of and easy it would be to slice and dice some random soul. The weight lessened over time through and she didn’t give into the murderous impulses she definitely inherited from her father.
Having his knife made her feel safe, it made her feel like a piece of Billy was always with her. She could imagine what he’d say to her as if he was right next to her.
And she knew for a fact this wasn’t because of her hallucinations.
Cleaning the thick layers of blood off that knife was a pain in the ass however. The blood had congealed a long time ago and the red substance throughly covered the knife. It felt a little weird cleaning that knife knowing some of that blood on it belonged to Billy.
Of course she didn’t want anyone knowing she had his knife either so it would’ve taken a while to clean…if she hadn’t gotten sloppy. Sam remembered that day well, humming a little as she day dreamed while walking.
Sam was sure that Tara wouldn’t be home for another hour and she was sure Mindy and Chad wouldn’t be with her today.
She was wrong on both accounts and it left everyone in the kitchen frozen. Sam it had to look bad, no she knew it looked back as she was leaning over the kitchen sink trying to scrape blood of a knife.
Tara was the first one to speak, she knew the knife was Billy’s, she had since Sam wield it against Bailey. She could only give her sister and friends an awkward laugh as we gestured at the knife.
”The blood is really caked on, it’s really hard to get it all off” Sam remembered telling them
Mindy stepped up and grabbed the vinegar then a small and filled it with hot water and dish soap then dumper the vinegar in.
“Vinegar, Hot water, and Dish soap can get blood out of everything” Mindy explained
That was how they spend their day, Mindy scrubbing that knife like there was no tomorrow, Tara cleaning the bowl and making a fresh batch of vinegar, water, and soap when it became too dirty. Chad had run out when he realized that they were running low on vinegar and came back with two gallon jugs.
Sam remembered that she was absolutely starstruck watching this happen. It also found it funny that she got booted from cleaning her own knife.
After around two hours of the process the knife was clean and the metal was shining in the kitchen light. Mindy handed her the knife and explained that it would without a doubt need to be sharpened. Sam didn’t have a problem doing that herself, and afterwards Sam never went out with out that blade.
After much pushing Tara agreed to always keep her taser on her as well. Sam was trying to let her go, but it was hard after all that had happened to them, but she was getting better at it. Tara could handle herself, they both knew that. Sam was pretty sure Tara didn’t agree to keep the taser on her just to let her mind relax however.
Sam snapped back into reality as she realized that she was back at her apartment, and smiled. Running inside she saw Danny sitting on the staircase and she ran towards him.
Danny beamed and stood up, wrapping his arms around Sam and hugged her. Pulling away to give her a kiss on her cheek and Sam giggled when he did.
“How was the walk?” Danny asked
“Good it was good” Sam told him
“That’s good” Danny told her, a dorky smile still on his face
Sam laughed and kissed him, leading him to the elevator so they could head back to her apartment. It was movie night tonight and everyone else was most likely waiting for them.
She was right and everyone greeted them as they walk in the door. Sam beamed when she realized that they were watching Bad Detectives, a new favorite of hers.
Looking at her friends and family, Sam reached into her jacket pocket and placed her knife on the table. No one tensed, and no one asked questions, they all knew that Sam like having the knife close by
”Ready?” Tara asked, looking around even though everyone knew the question was directed at Sam
She thought about it for a moment, looking at her friends and family once more. Sam knew that they would okay and that everyone here would be.
As long as they had each other they weren’t going to have any problems. They were skilled in what they did, regrettably, but they were still skilled at it. They could protected each other and they would always protected each other. No matter what happened, they won’t stop protecting each other.
She nodded, a goofy smile on her face “Ready”.
Tara smile and hit play, Sam leaned over and pour the bag on M&M’s into and sat back down. Cuddling up with Danny and using her free hand to hold Tara’s free hand. As she had went and cuddled up with Chad. Mindy snorted mumbling something about being a fifth wheel.
They all laughed and settled backs down, Sam took a look a Billy’s knife and sighed. It was sad that she needed to carry his knife with her to feel safe, but she knew that Billy was apart of her family, even if he couldn’t be there in person he was.
And Sam wouldn’t have it any other way.
