“Piper McLean,” she gasps out with a huge grin on her face, “as I live and breathe.” She all but leaps to throw her arms around Piper, who stands there shock-still, trapped in a tight hug with a girl she’s never met. After a few moments, Rachel seems to notice Piper’s lack of a reaction and draws back.
“Piper?” she asks, eyebrows knitted in concern, confused smile on her face.
“I’m sorry,” Piper says, equally confused, “Do I know you?”
In order to give her memories of a relationship with Jason, Hera takes a few things from Piper. These things include a year of memories with Rachel Elizabeth Dare.
Or: Rachel and Piper already know each other – very well – by the time Piper falls out of a blazing chariot into Camp Half-Blood. Rachel knows this. Piper does not.
