Summary
"What do you mean who are you? That's our best friend and your boyfriend, Jason," Leo said
“You're my best friend, and I would never date someone like him,” Piper corrected, giving Jason a somehow dirtier look than before.
Leo laughed. “Alright, Pipes, whatever you say.” He gave Jason an easy smile. “Come on, Jason. Tell your amnesiac girlfriend who you are.”
“I'm sorry, but I don't know who either of you are,” Jason admitted. “I—I'm not even really sure who I am.”

JASON is in over his head. He wakes up on a bus with amnesia, gets attacked by monsters and then told to go on a quest armed only with a boy who thinks they're friends, a girl who hates him, and a coin that randomly turns into a spear.
PIPER is keeping secrets. She's been having dreams about her dad being in trouble, and now she has to go on a quest she's doomed to betray to keep her best friend safe from some guy who's possibly the cause of all her problems
LEO is honestly just confused. He's spent his life rolling with the punches, but now he's learning that gods and monsters are real and he's gearing up to go on a quest with his two best friends who want each other dead.

“You know, I’m beginning to think you aren’t listening to me.”
Jason half lifted his head and blinked until the blurriness of his vision faded a little bit. His eyes crossed and the image of Leo came into focus, his chin resting on his palm and his bushy eyebrows furrowed up in a pout like a pair of affectionate caterpillars. Jason blinked again. “Huh?”
Leo sighed dramatically. “I have said, like, three jokes, and you haven’t laughed at any of them.”
Jason felt his lips curl up a little bit and he squished his cheek back into his folded arms. “Were they funny jokes?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Leo informed him. “Your only job is to laugh at them anyway and make me feel good about myself.”

Summary
Annabeth tapped her chin in thought. “Maybe he’s got a crush.”
“On who?”
“I dunno. You, maybe?”
Piper blinked at Annabeth for a moment as the words sank in. Then she started laughing. She laughed so hard that her stomach cramped, and she rolled off the bed, still convulsing with laughter. Annabeth made an offended noise and started hitting her with a pillow, which only made her laugh even harder.
Eventually, Piper caught her breath. “Jason does not have a crush on me,” she said, eyes still sparkling with amusement as she grinned up at Annabeth. “Why would you even think something like that?”
“It seemed reasonable!” Annabeth pouted.
“That can’t be it,” Piper dismissed. “Trust me, Jason isn’t going to be catching feelings for me any time soon. Besides, he’s actually avoiding Leo more than me, so by your logic he–”
Piper suddenly cut herself off. She felt a bit like she’d been hit between the eyes with an invisible baseball or, possibly more accurately, a shoe. Everything suddenly made sense. She looked at Annabeth with wild eyes. “I have to go. Right now. Like, immediately.”

Summary
Back in the Aphrodite cabin, she found Drew kicking a dozen bean bag chairs into a more aesthetic arrangement around the low tables and projector screen, and Piper cocked her head to the side. “Do you show, like, YouTube tutorials for make-up looks or something?”
Drew looked at her like she’d grown a second head. “What? No, dumbass. This is for watching movies.”
“I’m guessing we’re watching a rom-com?” Piper asked, trying to avoid wrinkling her nose.
“No idea,” Drew shrugged. “It’s Mitchell’s turn to pick.”

Summary
“Come on,” Leo muttered under his breath. “Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease.” Briefly, he wondered who he should be praying to. Hermes was the god of travelers, did this count? Or maybe the hearth goddess, Hestia. Hospitality was surely part of the home and junk. Or maybe he should just skip right to the chase and pray to Hypnos in a desperate hope that–
There was the quiet thump of a very sturdy body landing right behind him, and Leo whirled around to see Jason, sleep-rumpled and squinting at him in confusion. “Leo? What are you–”
“I’ll explain inside!” Leo yelped. “Harpies, move it move it move it!”

Summary
Then she heard something from Festus. A series of clicks and whistles that echoed through the still air. She frowned up at the ceiling. She knew Festus and Leo talked to one another with Morse, but the dragon never really communicated directly with her or Jason like that. “Festus? What’s wrong?”
SOS. LEO. TOP DECK.
Piper felt the blood drain from her face. “Keep an eye on him for me!” she ordered the empty room before leaping to her feet and tearing down the hall. Her heart was thrumming soi fast and high in the back of her throat, but she didn’t have time to worry about that.
She stumbled onto the deck, eyes wild, expecting to see swarms of Romans with wings sprouting from their backs swooping and attacking her crewmates. Instead, what she saw was Leo, eyes so wide that she could see the red-rimmed whites, plastered against the main mast with terror etched onto every one of his pale features. Percy Jackson was standing right in front of him, his hands fisted in the front of Leo’s shirt and their faces uncomfortably close. He was very obviously shouting something at Leo, but the blood was roaring in Piper’s ears far too loud for her to hear.

“Actually shut up,” Leo scoffed. “Anyway, Annabeth, do you mind staying with me? You’re, like, the only other person who really knows what’s going on with the ship.”
“Sure,” Annabeth agreed easily. “Going to see Bacchus or Mr. D or whatever he wants to call himself should be a three-man quest, though, which means–”
“I am not going anywhere with Jackson,” Piper spat, cutting her off. She was once again glaring death at Percy, who had stormed right back up at her.
“Oh, like I wanna go anywhere with you, McLean.”
Annabeth cut in, waving her hands through the air before they could properly get into it. “Okay! You two don’t have to go together!” She heaved a sigh and looked at Leo. “Do you think Piper can handle whatever it is that you were gonna have me do?” she asked, almost desperately.
Leo nodded without complaint. “Sure. Alright then. You and me, Pipes.”
“And I’ll go with Jason and Percy,” Annabeth finished. She glanced over at Jason. “Unless you have any problems with that?”
Jason’s face was hard as his gaze swung between Piper and Percy, but he nodded seriously. “Fine with me.”

As Leo fell once again, he realized that he hadn't been scared when he was falling before. He hadn't been scared because he knew Jason was there and he knew with every fiber of his being that Jason would catch him. Jason wouldn't let him fall. Summary
They managed to make it up to the top deck with everyone else before they were attacked again, Jason stumbling so hard Piper had to catch him before he could fall. She whipped her head around and tried not to gag. “What the fuck is that?”
“Shrimpzilla!” Percy shouted back. It wasn’t exactly a helpful description, but it wasn’t exactly wrong, either. The monster currently attacking the ship was a gigantic shrimp… cockroach… thing. It had an almost offensively bright pink shell made up of dozens of different segments that all slotted together and slid over one another like some kind of weird puzzle box, and there were hundreds of creepy bug-like legs on either side of its body that all twitched and undulated in one hypnotic mass. It had gigantic, bulbous eyes that held no light or intelligence, and a gigantic gaping maw that held no teeth. Looking at it made Piper feel like she was going to be sick.

Summary
Jason took a quick breath to steady his nerves (Sure, he liked playing for Leo, but it still made his hands a little clammy. Sue him.) and shot a quick prayer to Venus. Please, let him take the hint.
He pressed down on the strings in a modified G chord that his fingers still didn’t really like and started strumming. Down, down-up, down, down-up, he recited to himself a few times before moving to the C chord and continuing the rhythm, then back to G and down to D7 and back to G. Each pass got faster and faster until he broke rhythm, failing to stick the landing on the G. He flicked his gaze up to Leo, who was watching him with the same rapt attention as always, and he felt his mouth twitch up into a smile as he restarted the melody.

Summary
To say that Leo was antsy as he stood at the helm of the Argo II was what was commonly referred to as a “gross understatement.” Things had been bad enough when he, Frank, and Hazel had almost died at the hands of Leo’s favorite body-snatching ghost monsters, but then they’d had to book it to go pick up Piper, Jason, Percy, and Nico.
“You okay?”
Leo looked over to see Piper was suddenly at his side. He gave her a rueful grin. “Eh, debatable. Definitely better than Percy at least.”
He gestured over to the deck below them at the demigod in question. From the moment Percy had come aboard, he’d demanded they go get Annabeth right now. Leo had obviously obliged, and since then Percy had been prowling the deck like a cornered dog, ready to snarl and bite anyone who came near him. Leo could understand where the guy was coming from – he’d be worried beyond the point of rationale if Jason or Piper were in Annabeth’s shoes – but he still decided to give Percy plenty of space. Dude was scary, even when he wasn’t trying to be.

He sucked in lungful after lungful of air, his chest rattling with each inhale. He couldn't breathe. The air on this hilltop was too thin. Or maybe it was too thick. He could feel the winds furiously whipping around him, could hear the menacing growl of thunder overhead, but the air was too still. It was still and thick and every poisonous breath filled his chest with hot, sticky tar.

Summary
“So, that just means we have to fly to Venice, make it to Epirus, navigate the House of Hades, fight off the monster hoards that are almost certainly waiting for us, out-magic the mystery woman, and set fire to a Giant made of shadows,” Percy summarized. He glanced over at Hazel. “When did you say Hecate scheduled Gaea’s homecoming party?”
“August first,” Hazel reported. “The Feast of Spes. It’s a celebration of hope.”
“Let it not be said that she doesn’t understand irony,” Annabeth said dryly.
*
After a devastating loss in Rome, it seems as if there's no end to the list of challenges faced by the crew of the Argo II. Hecate sent them on a wild goose chase across the Italy while expecting Hazel to learn magic from a mustelid. Annabeth is failing to find a use for the statue she risked life and limb to retrieve. There's an extremely volatile son of Jupiter prowling around, threatening to blow the ship out of the sky, assuming one of the dozens of monsters don't get to them first. Cherry on top, Piper and Leo are currently trapped in Tartarus, and their only hope of rescue is their friends managing to make it to the bottom floor of the Necromanteion. Piece of cake.

Summary
Annabeth Chase did not follow the rules. She didn’t get a script, and she wasn’t interested in following the millenia-old story Calypso had memorized. She hadn’t washed up on the shore, weak and broken, she’d stormed it, held her ground and claimed victory on sand that didn’t belong to her. She didn’t need Calypso’s care and healing, she’d made her own camp, befriended the spirits of the island, and learned to thrive all on her own. Annabeth was determined, stronger and more clever than any who came before her, but above all, she was so very kind. She was kind to the birds who could only offer her a song, she was kind to the spirits who routinely failed her requests, and she was kind to Calypso who had assumed she’d lost the right to it thousands of years ago.
