Work Text:
Even if he didn’t look like it, expression as stoic as always, Craig was fucking excited. They had some shit going on at school right now, so all students got a whole free week and this was the last day of school before it. But that still wasn’t the best part. He finally convinced Tweek to get a vacation from his job at his parent’s cafe and fly to visit him. Craig was already in a second year and this was the first time, Tweek was coming to see him there. Before that, they only saw each other during the summer between his first and second years. And that was much less time than Craig would appreciate spending with his boyfriend.
Sure, they had phone calls every night and when Craig’s roommate wasn’t here they also did some spicy stuff through a video call, but that was far from enough. He wouldn’t admit it to anybody, but Craig spent nights hugging his pillow, imagining that it was Tweek. God, he didn’t expect himself to end up like this when he left South Park to go to university. He was worried about how Tweek would be taking it, he didn’t think that it would be so hard on him too.
But maybe he should have expected it. They were together for so many years and never were apart for more than few days. This was a big change for both of them. Some days Craig caught himself staring at his phone wallpaper, which was a photo of Tweek with Stripe on his head. It always managed to make him smile. He also had more photos of both of them together at his dorms. His roommate was constantly teasing him about how sappy he was. Idiot. He was just jealous because he was single.
At least he had some brain cells left and figured out that Craig would want to have some privacy with his boyfriend, so he made his own plans for the week and was going to leave right after his classes would end. He just had one condition. Nothing was going to happen on his bed. Really, an idiot. As if Craig would want to fuck Tweek on some other dude’s bed. And honestly, he wouldn’t probably even mind it if they didn’t have sex at all, he just wanted to have his love with him.
Tweek was still the anxious guy he always was, twitching from time to time, sometimes freaking out because of silly things and having Craig to help him calm down, but it was much better than when they were kids. Moreover when Craig had a serious talk with Tweek’s parents about adding “stuff” into his boyfriend’s coffee. They tried to give him their bullshit reasons, but he didn’t give a fuck about any of them, so they had to slowly stop. These were hard times during middle school. Tweek was going through serious withdrawal symptoms and Craig was there for him as much as he could.
He didn’t leave his side at school and spent more nights at Tweek’s house than his own. He even skipped school several times, when Tweek just wasn’t waking up. He knew that it was normal, that he would sleep a lot, even whole days, but it still worried him.
But the worse were the depressing thoughts that Tweek was having. The blond was crying a lot at that time. Talked about how fucked up he was, how he couldn’t understand why Craig even wanted to be with someone like him. That was another thing, why Craig was so worried. He loves his boyfriend so much and it hurt to see him in such a state, thinking so low about himself. He spent hours assuring him how amazing and strong he was, how loved he was.
Then there was that one horrible evening when Craig came back into the house after having his sister bring him some clothes and saw Tweek sitting on the floor in the bathroom, holding a razor blade in his hand. He wasn’t doing anything with it, just looking at it, thinking. That evening both of them cried. Craig held him close and refused to let go. He was so scared that if he let him, he would do something stupid. Craig couldn’t imagine the pain if he lost him.
That was officially Tweek’s very bottom. From then on he was slowly getting better. His sleep pattern was still shit, but the worst thoughts and pain were going away. About a week after the event, he started to go to school normally again and when their classmates asked what was with him, they told them that Tweek was sick. They didn’t have to know what the blond was going through. Craig doubted that they would understand.
With getting rid of the “secret ingredient”, Tweek tried to drink less coffee too. He still drank it more than other people, but it wasn’t as bad as before. At least to the point when it was good enough for him to have somehow normal sleep during most nights. It made Craig extremely happy. This was the progress he hoped for. And who knows how the fact that Craig had to move would affect Tweek if he still had the addiction problem? But thankfully that was all in the past. Now Craig could think about their plans for their week together. It helped him survive the last boring lesson.
He tried to get his stuff together as fast as he could since he already got a text from Tweek that he was waiting for him in front of the building. He even sent him a photo to make sure that it was the right university building. Craig was so proud of him that he managed to get there on his own without freaking out too much. It was the first time he travelled alone that far outside of South Park.
When Craig got to his locker, so he could throw his few books there, he was surrounded by a group of his classmates. “Hey Craig, Jake is having a party tonight. You know, to celebrate that we are free. Will you come?” One guy threw his arm around his neck. “Yeah, it’ll be fun!” Another girl stuck to his unoccupied side in a way that tugged her shirt down, revealing her boobs. Annoying assholes.
As if Craig had ever gone to any of these parties. He had never even expressed that he would want to be friends or something else with them, but they were still coming to him. It was similar to how it was at high school. Guys thought that he was cool and wanted to be his friends. Girls thought he was hot and wanted to get him to date them. He was already so fed up with this kind of people that he didn’t even try to explain to them why he wasn’t interested. It had never helped before, so why to bother?
Honestly, he wasn’t sure the girls would stop hitting on him if he told them that he was gay. They seemed just like the exact type that thinks, they can change a guy. Craig wasn’t interested in being annoyed in more ways than he already was. Just once he told a girl that he would rather suck her brother off than see her naked as she was suggesting. It honestly wasn’t a surprise when she went right back to trying to flirt with him the very next day as if that conversation never happened.
“Not happening, I’m busy.” With a loud slam, he closed his locker, when he was done putting his books away, and made his way outside, ignoring the group still following him. Some were trying to convince him to change his mind, while others were talking among themself and he just tried to ignore them until he heard something that caught his attention. “Hey, Milly just texted me that outside is some creepy guy.” A girl with dark brown hair studied the message. “She says that he looks as if he didn’t sleep for a month and is twitching like crazy.”
That totally sounded like Tweek. Craig just hoped that nobody was bothering him. He didn’t care that people thought that he was a weirdo, it was their fault for making assumptions about someone they didn’t even know. Tweek was probably just nervous as he was at a completely new place, plus Craig was a little bit late. Stupid teacher, not knowing how to end a lecture on time.
“He really looks like someone who would mug you in a dark alley.” The girl muttered as they stepped outside. She was looking in a direction of a bus stop and sure there he stood. Tweek had his bag with clothes laid on the ground next to him and was currently staring at his phone, typing something. He was surely asking Craig where he was because at the same time, Craig’s phone pinged inside his pocket.
Craig rolled his eyes at the girl’s statement and went towards the “dangerously looking guy”. If she knew what kind of sweetheart Tweek actually was. At this moment Craig ignored them, even though they still followed him. He didn’t care that they would witness him greeting his boyfriend.
“Oi, Tweek.” Craig called and smirked when he heard girls behind him squeak in irrational fear, as Tweek looked at them. And there it was, the fucking smile that Craig missed so much. “Craig!” Tweek shouted a bit loudly, probably from the happiness. Fuck, Tweek was so beautiful when he was smiling, and even more beautiful when he was smiling because of Craig. How he got so lucky, Craig never understood.
He just let his boyfriend run into his arms, leaving the bag behind, forgotten. “Hey, Honey.” Craig didn’t hesitate to kiss Tweek. It had been so long since he could hold him, kiss him. Nothing could ruin this moment for him. Surely not the group that stood a few metres away from them, shocked. None of them knew he was in a relationship, moreover with a guy.
And maybe finding out in this way would make them finally realise that first, he wasn’t interested in any of these girls and second, that they weren’t his friends. There was no reason for him to tell someone who wasn’t his friend about his private life. And so took Tweek’s hand and led him away, took his bag and threw it over his shoulder. “Let’s get your stuff to my dorm and then get something to eat.”
Only from afar, he heard one guy comment. “Is this also your first time seeing Craig genuinely smile?” That was right. His smile was reserved only for his love and for Stripe.
