He picks up the phone with a shaking hand and calls the first of his friends, Jeff. The phone rings once before Jeff picks up.
“Hello.” Shit, shit, shit. He sounds so happy. And Eddie’s going to be the one to ruin that. Fuck.
“H-Hi…”
“Woah, Eds, what’s up man?” Fuck.
“I just… wanted to… apologise. For… everything.”
“What’dyou mean?”
“I worried you a lot. With my exes. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”
“Eddie- don’t tell me you’re about to do something stupid- Eddie.”
He hung up. 2 more friends to call. Then the hardest call of them all. His boyfriend, Steve.
The calls to Gareth and Grant went the same as Jeff’s call.
He called the Harrington phone.
“Hello, Steve Harrington speaking.”
“Hey Stevie…”
“Eddie!” Fuck, he sounded so happy when he realised it was Eddie.
“I’m sorry.”
“For wh-“ Eddie hung up.
Shitshitshit.
He grabbed a nearby knife and slit his wrist, the blood pouring out, the cut burning. He repeated this process over and over, fucking up his already fucked arm.
Jeff, Gareth, Grant and Steve all burst through his bedroom door in time to watch him faint.
2 hours later, he was pronounced dead.
