He paused as he saw the mess of dishes in the kitchen. “What are you.. ARE YOU COOKING IN MY KITCHEN? OH MY GODS YOU, WHAT THE HELL- LANGA-“

“I tried to surprise you with poppy seed muffins.. I, um, kinda messed up the recipe..” Langa frowned.

Work Text:

“I actually hate the bus,” Reki said with an exasperated sigh, placing his keys on the side table. “I’m gonna start taking driving lessons at this point. The people on the bus are actually creeps, this is Utah, not New York.” He paused as he saw the mess of dishes in the kitchen. “What are you.. ARE YOU COOKING IN MY KITCHEN? OH MY GODS YOU, WHAT THE HELL- LANGA-“

“I tried to surprise you with poppy seed muffins.. I, um, kinda messed up the recipe..” Langa frowned.

“Oh dear.. Here, let me see the recipe, La.” Langa handed Reki his phone and went to gather his mess together.

“Oh, this is super simple. We need a tablespoon, a teaspoon, a 3/4 cup, and a 1/2 cup.” Langa handed over the measuring cups and waited for him to give out more instructions. “Langa this is 1/2 a teaspoon and this is a teaspoon, I need a tablespoon, the one that says tbsp and not tsp.” Reki gave him a sympathetic look as he handed over the 1/2 teaspoon. Langa handed over the colorful plastic ring of measuring tablespoons and teaspoons.

“Now add 3/4 a cup of milk to that big white bowl you have right there. Wash it first though. I’ll get out the ingredients we need.”

“Okay, now we wait for them to cook and they should be done!”

“What do we do while we wait?”

“We? You are gonna clean up and I’m gonna go look at driving classes because the bus sucks. Also we have a shift at Crossroads tomorrow from 6 to 3.”

“But I don’t want to do the dishes, I did them yesterday.” Langa frowned at Reki as he went to their room to grab his computer.

“And you get to do them again. We can order in tonight since I don’t feel like doing any more cooking and I’m not letting you use my kitchen without me helping you.” Reki sat on the floor with his back to the sofa and his computer on the coffee table.

Well this is oddly domestic..’ He looked at driving classes nearby the apartment in skating distance, being calmed by the soft sound of running water in the other room and the annoyed huffs coming from Langa.

“Rekiiiii, do you have any homework to do tonight? It feels like forever since you’ve gone to bed at the same time as me. You can’t live off Red Bull forever.” Langa whined as he walked over to where Reki was sitting and leaned over the back of the couch to see what he was up to. “Is your computer background a photo of us?”

“Huh? Yea, so is my phone and most of my social media profiles. Why? Do you think it’s weird? I can change it if ya want!” He turned his head and grinned at Langa.

“What. No, I think it’s pretty nice of you, your amazing Reki.” Reki stopped in his tracks and went as red as his hair.

“You can’t just say that so casually! Langa!”

“But it’s true! You’re amazing Reki, you make such a great skateboarder and you make the best food,” Reki dug his face into his hands.

“Stoppppp, I don’t make food as good as my mom.”

“You didn’t deny being amazing.” Curse Langa and his stupid smug smile. “Also your food is great too.”

“Oh, would you look at that! The muffins are done, better take them out!” Reki was bright as a tomato as he strode past Langa, who was now holding back a laugh.

“You wanna watch a movie?” Reki tilted his head up from looking at the driving class registration form he was filling out.

“I swear to the heavenly lord above if you say Legally Blonde just so you can gush about how hot Emit is and spill your Red Bull all over me again, then no Reki, no I do not want to watch a movie.”

“Jeez, what happened to the snow prince that every girl gushed about from High School?”

“Shut, now if you’re not gonna fill out the form you can’t get your license to drive.” Langa looked down at the red head leaning on his side and pointed his hand to the screen.

“Hey, if worst comes to worst, we can always just forge the documents.” Langa couldn’t tell if Reki was joking or not. “Chill, I’m not good at doing it anyways.” Reki rolled his eyes and reached for the tray of poppy seed muffins.

“Uh, what do you think you’re doing?”

“Grabbing a muffin, what else?”

“Nope, it’s almost 10 and you said we have a shift at 6.” Langa got off the couch, causing Reki to fall on his back. Langa closed his computer and put it on the coffee table.

“Go get ready for bed. I’ll put the muffins away and toss any trash from the take out.” Langa said shoo-ing him out of the living room. Once he was was in their room (with some protest, obviously) Langa went into the top cupboard and fished out a small white business card with cute letters sprawling ‘ᖴᗩᗰIᒪY ᖴᒪOᗯEᖇᔕ’ before he dialed the number below.

“Hello! It is after hours at the shop! Please leave a message after the beep and we will get back to you as soon as we can! Beep!”
